Honestly one of the worst Libraries I’ve EVER been to. I hate to say it. It’s not because its South Central. South Central HAS AMAZING LIBRARIES! Some of them are GREAT others are just okay. This one had bed service. No Test Prep books. (I am a tutor currently.) And the staff was not very helpful in finding stuff.
Skip this noise. Theres 80 Libraries in the LA system and although I haven’t been to them all this one is probably the worst.

This place is really small but I wasn’t there for research. I just needed a quiet place to do my paper. Boy, was I wrong! Even though there is a sign right outside the library that says you’re not allowed to pick up your cell phone in the library, people still picked up their calls. Also, people were talking to each other out loud. And the librarians/​workers didn’t say or do anything. Of course, I didn’t want to be the bitch by saying something though.
The parking lot is really small but I guess people don’t like to read because finding a spot was easy breezy on a Thursday afternoon and a Saturday afternoon. LOL The staff looks kinda bored working there but at least I saw all of them being helpful when people had questions for them. Also, I’m glad I got some work done despite the noise and commotion. Next time if i have time I will drive the 4 miles to the downtown LA location since I have never been there before. LOL :)

Ascot is an unassuming library right near the 110 Freeway. It was hard to fathom that a library would be in such a busy part of LA, but I’m glad it exists! I’m a big fan of libraries. =)
Parking is scarce… Ascot has a lot for about 30 cars, if that.
The space is also small — its a one story library with a very limited selection of books and mixed media. There’s a nice sized collection of computers *w/​net* for you to use. Don’t come in here expecting to find scientific research papers or some of the more advanced readings you’d find in college libraries or larger public libraries. I’d highly recommend you do an online search first to make sure what you want is at this site.
However, just because its small doesn’t mean it doesn’t have great hidden finds! Got a PBS DVD along with 2 other genetics related books here. =)
