Excellent food and service. The chicken korma was delicious. The owner was really nice and even threw in a free dish in our order!

I had such a pleasant experience at Little India, while the food is different to other India food that I have experience in the past, it was honestly very tasty. I went during the lunchtime buffet and the owner was super pleasant and accommodating. The food was fresh and the service was delightful, we shall be returning to Little India real soon.

FYI this review is a direct copy/paste of a post I made on — needless to say this refers to a delivery, and not a dine-in experience. «This order took 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete, which is entirely unacceptable. The guy on the phone graciously offered me two extra dishes, but that really doesn’t make up for it. And when the food finally arrived it was all reeking of cigarette smoke, and of course, barely lukewarm. Not to mention they forgot my soda. Worst of all, the food is low quality canned ingredients with dismal seasoning. Waste of my time and money — I will not be ordering from this restaurant again.»

We liked the $ 8.95 lunch buffet. 11 – 3. They have only been here 7 months. Clean with white tablecloths & napkins. The darling couple that own & run it are hard workers. They say they may soon begin to continue the buffet into dinner time @ same price for awhile. Strip mall Parking in front. We will return.

We had a great experience last night. Everything was delicious. The menu was rich and we had lots of options to choose from. I arrived hungry and was fearing that I’ll need to wait a long time for the food to arrive, BUT was pleasantly surprised that it came very quickly(as appose to some other Indian restaurants where I had a long wait). If you live near by, a lunch buffet would be great, it’s only $ 8.95 p/p. The service was very warm and welcoming. I felt like I was in India again :-) Time got a different meaning, life got a new perspective(not because of the food) but because of the conversation with the owner Joi(pronounce Jeh). I recognized him since I saw him at a different restaurant in Sherman Oaks and was happy yo learn that Little India was owned by him. Another great thing is that they are open pretty late, which we like… Enjoy.

I went here with a friend because of a living social deal two days ago. After bland, non-spicy(when we asked for it hot) and unappetizing food from this strip mall located restaurant, I was already going to write it a not-so good review. Yeah they owners were really nice — a little too nice, coming over every minute to ask how the food was(it’s a little hard to keep lying to them) — but the food was just nowhere near what you would serve someone. But I decided to sleep on the review. The next morning I woke up with the fire of Satan in my bowels and had to jump out of bed and run to the bathroom to expunge all which was evil. Now, I am Indian. I eat Indian food all the time, I know what I’m getting into, but there was NOWAY this amount of pain equalled out to getting good food. I thought that was it, but then that’s when the food poisoning set it. A full day of switching off between sitting on the toilet and expunging stomach acid into it. There were the brief 5-minute lapses where I collapsed onto my bed in cold sweats, but I’d have to get right back up if I didn’t want to gross up my apartment. At this point, a review was definitely in the cards, but I could not physically bring myself to write it. I was in pain. After an additional night of cold sweats and vomiting bile, I had to take one more day off from work before finally feeling good enough to garner the strength to warn the other residents of LA against this place. I don’t understand the good reviews for this place. Even the good ones admit that the flavor has become a lot blander and not acceptable for an Indian restaurant. This place gets an F in my book. Oh, and my friend got deathly ill too, so it wasn’t just me.

Love this place! Our favorite indian food in LA. The butter chicken is FANTASTIC. We moved to LA from NYC and were sorely missing the great indian food available in Manhattan and the northeast in general. We tried this place after scouring Unilocal and were so happy with the food — so much more flavorful than what we’d gotten at other places. We’ve only ordered delivery, have yet to dine in, but the service has been great. Very courteous and competent on the phone. I think the man who delivered our order one time may have actually been the owner, and he was so kind and polite. They gave us some bonus samosas and a dessert as well, on the house. Fantastic, neighborly service, awesome food, and a generous spirit. Well done!

Wonderful Indian food. Jay is an awesome person and cook. Samosa, malai kofta, Grilled fish, chicken curry, chicken mango, potatoes and eggplants, rice, naan — everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. I ate in India many times and this is by far better than any dish I ever had there. The guy is just talented and loves his food. Can be pricy so try to get there for lunch — 8.95 all you can eat!!!

We LOVE Indian food. We’ve been to just about every Indian buffet in the Hollywood area, and this is our current favorite. Service is wonderful; it’s attentive, friendly, and the host is clearly concerned about making his clientele happy; he will literally run into the kitchen and pull out something freshly made if you’re really hankering for a dish. The food is great. The doughnuts are the best in the area, the vegetarian dishes urge me to grab seconds(something I almost never do), and the curries varieties get changed on a regular basis. I’ve yet to have a disappointing dish after about 4 – 5 visits. Plus, their buffet is open 7 days a week. Price is also right at 9 bucks a head.

I don’t usually like to give bad reviews unless I feel the place warrants it. This is one of those times. I came here for their lunch buffet when they first opened and I gave it a 4 star review because they had a great selection and quality. I’m sad to say that my latest experience is anything but. Although the owner and service is nice, I simply can not recommend the food here. They have changed a lot on their lunch buffet selections. The food is not even that hot and it’s just flat out bland. To me, only the chicken tandoori is even half okay, everything else is just bad. Unless they change their menu and quality back to what they had before when they first opened, I will not be going back.

I’ve been back a couple more times after my first good review. It’s sadly to say this place is not even close to my first experience. The menu is different now and the flavor is not even close to the original quality. Overall, I give it several chances and I would not go back to it again.

Ordered from . Normally I like to get a meat dish and saag paneer at an Indian place, but I didn’t want to spend $ 35 on dinner. I got the lamb curry, samosas and garlic naan. I’m usually wary of ordering lamb, especially in the U.S., as many lower-end places have tough, cheap cuts of meat. But as the other reviews said — the lamb was tender and tasty. I got the curry medium, and it had an appropriate kick — the kind of spice that leaves your lips tingling a bit, but doesn’t kill your throat. The samosas weren’t as crisp as they probably are in the restaurant, but were passable. The naan wasn’t super garlicy BUT was a generous, large piece. Next time I’ll just get the plain; it was good as naan, but not outstanding as garlic naan. I was pleasantly surprised to get a free order of popadums, which apparently are also complimentary at the restaurant when you eat-in. They were crispy and just like I remember from London. I was also very happy that they included the traditional dipping sauces — the spicy green one and the sweet tamarind one. I love the latter and was glad I didn’t have to ask for it. Order took a little under an hour to arrive, about what I expected for a driver dealing with Hollywood traffic on a Saturday night. Food arrived piping hot. I’ll definitely order again, and try some other main dishes.

Trying a new Indian restaurant is always risky, but this place was definetly worth it! It’s a little hole in the wall, family owned and generally pretty empty for dinner(though it shouldn’t be!) It just opened recently and is definetly trying to find a new customer base. The food is some of the best Indian I’ve had in a long time complete with delicious garlic naan and lamb vindaloo. They also deliver for free! Give it a shot, it won’t disappoint!

I just came in for their lunch buffet and it was quite tasty! Their tandoori chicken is succulent and tender that the meat is literally coming off the bone. The juices run down your throat like liquid gold. Seriously, I couldn’t get enough of their chicken. If you are craving Indian and are in this side of town. Give it a shot. It probably won’t be the greatest you have ever had but it certainly will hit the spot. Would I be back? As long as I am working in the area and I am craving Indian, this is going to be on a short list.

So, a coworker and I decided to give Little India a shot. We usually go to the place next door, Crown of India, so we figured we’d try this place out… what a huge disappointment. The only thing they had going for it was the service, the lady there was very attentive to our water glasses. Salad tasted like it came from a bag and I don’t even think they washed it… it’s not really a salad, just lettuce and tomato slice. The rice was cold and hard. The chicken tandoori was hard and tasted like it was leftover from the previous day and reheated. I decided to try a little bit of everything and nothing really stood out. We left hungry and unsatisfied…

I feel robbed by my fellow Unilocalers on this one. I went to try the buffet so I can try a little bit of everything. The food was horrible, the table dirty and I didn’t like a single thing from it which it makes me sad. Salad tasted fresh from a bag, rice was cold, most of the chicken was dry even in the curry, the sauces weren’t flavorful. Never again… if you want good Indian food for lunch just go next door there is no comparison. oh yeah I forgot, my friend got really sad and I think I saw a tear come out.

Plain and simple, the best indian food I’ve had in Los Angeles. I had some trepidation, mind you — this isn’t the best part of Hollywood, and frankly, the restaurant’s in one of the sketchier shopping centers in the area. Right when I walked in, however, I was put at ease. The room is attractive, with gauzy curtains to shield your view of the questionable dealings outside. There was clearly a good attention to detail too, right down to the heavy, carved waterglasses and good quality silverware. A promising start. The food is the star here, though. From the complimentary papadums, to the tender lamb, to the perfectly cooked cauliflower, everything was really excellent. I also appreciated that they don’t seem to use as much salt as most indian restaurants; the flavors were very clean and bright. The vindaloo, in particular, was outstanding, with a deep, flavorful heat. The owner is a very nice man, and he clearly cares deeply about the service he’s providing; he presented the food, checked up on us several times, and was otherwise quite friendly. We didn’t take advantage, but he also mentioned that there’s no corkage fee if you want to bring wine or beer. All in all, we had a great time, and I would highly recommend the restaurant. A great(and much needed) addition to the indian restaurant scene in LA.

This is the best Indian food I’ve had in a long while. I’m excited that its so close to home! I came here last Saturday hoping to get the lunch buffet. We were seated by a very nice lady and were told there wasn’t a lunch buffet today. We were a little disappointed but then the owner came out and told us that we could order a la carte for the same price as the buffet. Score! We pretty much got dinner for lunch prices AND the food was made to order and super delicious. You can tell that the owner puts a lot of pride in his cooking because everything was fresh and so so yummy. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, veggies and Chicken Vindaloo. Yum, yum, yum, yum! The naan was delish as well. Above all, the service was great and top notch… pretty much ran by a very friendly husband and wife. I would definitely recommend Little India for anyone craving yummy Indian food.

This restaurant is only a few minutes from where I live, and I’d driven past a few times before they opened. When I saw that it was finally listed in Unilocal,I figured that it might actually be open and took a chance and drove over. Little India is at the corner of Highland and Santa Monica in a strip mall on the northeast corner. Admittedly, while the neighborhood is improving, it’s still a little sketchy at night – a guy tried to hit me up for $ 3 as I was getting out of my car – but once inside the restaurant, they do their best to make you forget about the surroundings. Sedate lighting and ambient Indian music do their best, while the service is truly hospitable. The owner is extremely welcoming and made me feel like a valued guest(admittedly, it was a pretty quiet night, given that it was Monday and the restaurant’s only been open for a week). The food holds its own against the local competition – I tried the lamb saag and the chicken tikka masala. The lamb was tender, and the dish brought a bit of heat(I’d asked for medium, which it turns out is actually reasonably spicy, though it wasn’t more than I could handle). The chicken had a nice sweetness to it, which balanced out the lamb. I would definitely return to sample other things on the menu, and their lunch buffet, at $ 8.95 with what appeared to be quite a bit of variety based on the signage that was still out from earlier in the day(and the owner says most of the buffet changes daily), looks like a good deal. Obviously, I haven’t tried much of the menu yet, but Little India is off to a good start, and the warm welcome definitely elevates the experience.
