I used to live in Brentwood and go to this restaurant all the time. I was visiting from Vegas and and I was craving their chopped salad. It was a lot smaller than it uses to be. I never used to be able to finish the salad. The waiter was Super Slow! No personality. My husband had the bolonese. Just ok. Disappointing! Bread is still good. Wouldn’t race back.

My wife and I love this place. Great chopped salads, great chicken parmesan. It’s not very expensive unless you eat too much, which seems to happen whenever we eat there

Mozzarella marinara, bruschetta, and chicken parmigiana are so amazing I always love coming here. It’s down the street from where I lived in Brentwood and now that I moved I still make a point to come here whenever I can. It’s one of my favorite Italian restaurants because of the ambience and the customer service. I mainly bring my clients here for dinner meetings because of how consistent and authentic the food is. I will continue to bring both clients and family and friends here for a long time. A great place to dine.

I would give them ½ a star if I could. Just left the restaurant and I cannot honestly tell you how food or ambience was because the gentleman who came to me at the door REFUSED to give me service. As soon as I stepped in, none of the servers or staff at the counter glanced at me or smiled. I started looking around and trying to wave at «anybody» who could greet me. Finally a gentleman calmly waked my way and asked me how many people my party was. I promptly said«2! My sister works right above your restaurant and she will join me in the next 5 – 10 minutes. :) « He said, «so please let us know whenever your party is complete and we will have you seated». WHAAAT? «Sir, she is your upstairs neighbor! She is coming down in 5 minutes, and I can order!» «No, M’am. We DONOT seat incomplete parties.» So I said«don’t you worry, Sir. We will certainly go someplace else and NEVER come back here again.» I have been a manager in the restaurant business for the last 18 years, and I would never refuse a first time customer, specially a party of 2!!! I understand if my party was a large one and the restaurant needs to make sure at least half of the party is present, but a party of 2 in a Tuesday night at 5:45pm when there is 1 table seated in the whole restaurant??? The gentleman’s approach was rude and reckless. It goes so beyond anything bad I could ever imagine from a host. And yes, I will remember to let all my friends know about this experience so they do not through the same humiliation. I sincerely feel so bad for your staff. They just lost a future loyal customer who would come every single week.

The original chopped was not the same as the BH location. How do you mess up the signature dish!!! We were floored by how different and to be honest gross it was. La Scala is a favorite and kind of an obsession but the experience we had at the Brentwood location has me wondering if I’ll ever go back. Maybe it was an off day or a rogue employee but I’d recommend sticking to BH for the signature chopped salad.

How can the restaurant with the greatest chop salad known to man have three and a half stars??? It blows my mind.

Haven’t been here in a while but always a good go to ! Food is usually consistent and love the chicken forno ! My waiter was great but the hostess had an attitude as usual. My whole party was there and I went to the restroom and gave my guests a hard time ridiculous. They have had so many different hostess and all horrible. Meal and waiter was great but the rules are ridiculous.

I have enjoyed the Beverly Hills location for over 40 yrs. but moved to Brentwood five yrs ago. have had nothing but trouble and aggravation every time I’ve had a meal. The host is arrogant and rude and our server refused to toss our salad and walked away… what happened to trying to give good service to customers who are paying(over paying) for their meal? Well I’d had enough and walked out! NEVER to return. I would have left zero stars but it wouldn’t let me. Too bad as I enjoyed the OLD restaurant, Jean Leon would be appalled …

One of the popular dishes is the grilled chicken salad. It’s so simple. Just some lettuce, chickpeas, chicken, and dressing. Simple. BUT it’s the reason why I continue to come back … The crisp lettuce diced extra small, the LIGHT dressing that’s so smooth and barely acidic, and their lean chicken also diced small and well done.

One of my favorite places to have lunch. They just have the best salads in town period. I enjoy them way too often. It is not only the great tasty meals but the service that keeps bringing me back. For sure one of my «to go» places of all time.

Delicious! I’m from NY so they had a very hard lead to follow– but La Scala was delicious. I had the eggplant Parm and my sis had the chicken Parm and both were amazing. The sauce was fresh and the eggplant was so well seasoned. We finished it off with the lemon cake which was unbelievable. So fresh and light with white chocolate. Everyone around us and the salads, which looked very good but I’m so glad I got the yummies! Only reason I gave it 4 stars instaed of 5 is 1) the bread they brought in the beginning of the meal was eh. I expected better bread. 2) the oil they served in the oil and vinegar container tasted like canola oil! so weird. I expected a high quality EVOO.

I once strayed away from my usual chopped salad, in favor of a healthier turkey chopped salad. Don’t do it. The original chopped salad is the signature dish for a reason; don’t mess with it. Original chopped salad and an iced tea = a perfect leisurely lunch! Parking is not convenient, or else I’d be here more often.

Not bad overall. I had the chopped tuna salad and the wife had the pizza — artichoke and prosciutto. The prosciutto was like bacon– you can do that. Super thin baby! Keep it paper thin. The cappuccino was excellent.

I truly believe that the maitre d’ sets the tone. At this La Scala Presto, Brent Bambic creates an atmosphere of graciousness and calm. When my husband and I arrive, we are greeted with genuine enthusiasm. Brent cares that we are there for an enjoyable dining experience. He fairly seats COMPLETE parties on a first come, first serve basis. A party of two can be seated in a large group booth, if they are next on the list. Brent makes sure all diners are treated with respect and understanding. He sincerely goes out of his way to guarantee great service, excellent food, and a comfortable environment! Thank you, Mr. Bambic. You are the definition of an OUTSTANDINGMAITRE D’!!! See you soon!

La Scala will always be one of my favorite restaurants in Brentwood. It is a classic and well-established place and has been a favorite of people near and far for years. The Chopped Salad is always my go to — however, make sure to ask them to add cucumbers and tomatoes to spice up your usual chopped la scala salad! I also really like getting the garbanzo beans chopped because it enhances the«chopped» idea of the salad. The chopped salad dressing is amazing also! Another really great dish is the Ortolana soup — this is a hot pureed vegetable soup and it is honestly to die for. Make sure to get fresh ground pepper on the soup if/when they offer it to you! I love the pepper on the soup as well. I don’t think their pizza is the best — but I LOVE the ragu meat sauce that you can get on pasta. Also — pro tip — If you are like my family and are a big fan of toasted bread, ask for the bread toasted when they bring you the bread-basket. This will make the world of a difference when dipping warm toasted bread into the Ortolana soup!

We are frequent diners at la Scala(once a week), we love the food . What a disappointment La Scala was again with its service. As great as the food is at La Scala that is how bad the service is. Your first impression, the manager who greets you, OY… the bed side manner of manager Brent, needs help. Personality and customer service would be a great tool for la Scala to incorporate into it’s greeter, seater and manager all combined into one. Come on La Scala, let’s get the front service to be as good as your food so your customers don’t have to walk out after.

First let me start off by saying that I’m Italian, so I KNOW good Italian food… And this place is simply delicious! The chopped turkey salad is fantastic. The pink sauce spinach ricotta ravioli is the absolute best thing on the menu! I crave it all the time now. The pink sauce in general is the best pink sauce I’ve ever had. The service is good, and the menu items are reasonably priced considering the portion size and quality of the food. Would absolutely recommend this place for true Italian food lovers!

I love the chop salad here. The service is good. Here’s why it gets three-stars. Why is a chop salad with iceberg lettuce so expensive? If I compare it with other local options the competitors salads come with more yummy items and are larger.

Ok this will be my 800th review! So I was walking down San Vicente and two other places I was going to go had lines out the door onto the sidewalk so I kept walking and I thought, I never have tried this place before so I figured I’d take a shot. I was going to keep it simple and have some spaghetti, I upped the ante a little bit and got the Bolognese, which is a meat sauce, lots of meat. So yeah, it was my very first time having it and I wasn’t impressed with the way it looked to be honest but after trying it, it wasn’t bad at all. though I though it could use something else to make it more flavorful. it did hit the spot. The other thing I liked was the service, the staff was on the job as much as they could be. Very impressive. I wish my break was warmed up, it was cold. I don’t know if it is supposed to be that way but definitely not my style. Since I walked, I can’t say anything about the parking so I would like to give them a 3 ½ star I am going to go ahead and give them a 4, the service was good.

This location is a smaller version of the larger La Scala location in Beverly Hills, and has a less extensive menu, but keeps many of the favorites like the chopped salad and the spaghetti bolognese. The restaurant is also a bit on the smaller side, and less fancy in terms of appearance, however, the quality of the food still remains the same. I came to this location for the first time the other day for lunch, and ordered a fettuccine pasta dish that was served with a creamy white sauce and prosciutto, mushroom, peas, and onions. I found the dish to be very heavy on the creamy side, which is not a preference for me. However, if this is what you enjoy, you will probably really like this dish. The rest of the ingredients made it very pleasant, but it would have been more suited to my tastes if creaminess were not so intense. Not bad overall, but I would probably opt for something else next time. The service was pleasant and friendly, even for a rather crowded lunch hour. Waters were refilled promptly and someone was always there to take care of us when we needed them. Would definitely return here again when I’m in the area and in the mood for some good Italian food.
