A good clean cut! I’ll never understand why people are waiting 30 – 40 mins plus for a haircut around the corner at Floyd’s… Has that fad not passed?! Every time I’ve been to Floyds the haircuts have been mediocre.
I like to support my small local businesses! The guys around the corner from Floyd’s are never too busy for me and I always leave looking great and feeling fresh. So stop waiting at Floyd’s and support these guys!

These guys are the best around.
My son and I have been going there for years. Whenever I am forced to go elsewhere I’m always disappointed.
These guys never disappoint.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
I was going away and couldn’t get into my regular barbershop… Walked in here, some old guy was there. Can you cut a mohawk? Yeah. How much? $ 15. Okay. But he doesn’t budge… some other guy comes in from outside.
This guy put in ZERO EFFORT plus he was totally incompetent. Not a combo you should trust with a scissor or razor. I already had a mohawk line. All this fool had to do was follow it. I have never in my life gotten out of the chair and pointed at shit in the mirror — but he could not operate a buzzer. This guy butchered me… so bad that I had to go elsewhere to have them clean the lines up, on both sides — still weren’t straight. And the top? It was already pretty short, but let’s just say that the other shop had to fix that too.
So after I had enough — I take out my wallet and hand him $ 15. He says — this haircut is $ 20. The old guy told me $ 15 so you’re going to get $ 15. Then starts to argue with me about it. The old guy, who witnessed this debacle has the balls to say… If you got the haircut you came for you should pay the $ 20. I offered two options — take the $ 15 or get zero for the worst haircut of my life. And be lucky you still have your teeth.

I live nearby and was in desperate need of a trim. The other fancy-​looking barber shop on the corner looks cool… but I wanted to support the smaller guy just down the block. Glad I did. The two gentlemen at L&R are very friendly and Atalo was quick, attentive, and professional. I couldn’t argue with $ 15 (CASH ONLY) either. I will definitely return for the quality cut and take the money I saved around the corner to Grand View market for a beer! Support Mar Vista businesses!

Asked for a confirmation whether they can do a complete shave before working on me, specifically for a «smooth finish». They buzzed my hair leaving a stubble and called it a day. When asked to do more as its not smooth, they claimed that they don’t use razor blades. Misleading. You get what you pay for.

I recently moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a good haircut that was nearby. I initially was going to the Floyd’s on the corner but saw this spot when I was parking. Decided to give it a try rather than waiting 30 minutes at Floyd’s. I had an interview the next day so a good trim was in order.
Atalo Sernas is a good barber, very attentive and responsive to my requests. Not only that, but it has an old school barbershop feel with a ton of history and experience – it’s been there for 50 years and with the current owner for about 20 years. It is unpretentious and unlike Floyd’s they take their time, not to mention the awesome price – $ 15 (cash only). I actually only had $ 15 so I was unable to tip but promised to return.
Went back for a full haircut and was even happier with the results. Nice work – I’ll be returning.

I used to get my haircut at a place in culver city but didn’t like the atmosphere. It was all quiet and no conversation. At L&R its total opposite. Rafa always has something to talk about and he never leaves you in awkward silence. When I first came here the price was $ 12 but now its up to $ 15. I don’t mind because its good quality cuts and conversation

Just spent the last hour trying to remember the name of this place. I originally found it by doing a «local» search on my phone when staying at a friends place who lives in the area. I was a little weary at first, but I was very pleased with the results. Rafael is very friendly and cuts hair well. I’ve been just a couple times and he always remembers exactly how I want it cut, even though it’s usually several months in between visits. I’ll definitely be back!

Rafael is super. Very friendly and does a nice job. As you might guess, he is a great source for all the neighborhood news.

This place is very close to my house and very cheap. The service is always great and they cut hair very well. I don’t need a fancy haircut; just to clean up the back and the sides. It is a very intimate place and there are never too many people.

This place is PERFECT. I just got my hair cut there this morning (20^th time since I found them 2 years ago). Rafael is a cool dude who can keep up a comfortable chat and has tons of great stories. They charge 12 bucks, but I always tip up to $ 20, just because of how rare it is to find a good barber with a personal touch. Down the street is a trendier place meant to draw in hipsters like me, but they can’t hold a flame to L&R. Exactly the type of place for a wonderful cut. I always come here, and will continue to do so.

Hey nice short hair cut, from two really good barbers Rafael & Vicente. I have been coming here for over 14 years all most since the first week they opened. They are like the uncle or grandpa who does not mind cutting your hair, even crying screaming kids… cuts today are 12 bucks. i get it cut every 8 to 10 days. like i said i like it short!
