Okay so the street it sits on is terrible! But this is downtown LA guys! Not Beverly Hills! The entire county is terrible even if you live in a million dollar highrise or condo, you will still see prosties and crackheads outside your window. If u cant deal, this area is not for you. Also, the King Edward Hotels lobby is terrible as well I will admit but the thing about downtown la is you cannot have one without the other wihout paying over a killing for rent. Eventhen sometimes the outside of those building still need work. Ur Either going to have a GORGEOUSLOBBY but a crappy shoebox apartment thats falling apart. A rad, clean, spacious apartment but a rundown lobby… or if u r lucky enough to havewood both your building will still look like it was made CENTURIES ago because it was! And u will still enjoy the smell of sin on every block. So why do I give it four stars? because for the price and location(downtown la is a happening spot for SOME of us, also a quick train ride away to hollywood, which is also a terrible place visually but whre lots of us artist thrive at) you cant get any better! King Edward has a sister hotel across the street called I belive the baltimore? Or something liek that but their rent is higher and the space is smaller(but the lobby is a bit more cleaner thats about it). So you really have to see what you want to do more — impress your friends with a nice lobby or impress your friends with the size of your unit? idk! U be the judge!

I have a friend who lives in the King Edward Hotel, located above King Eddies. I finally got to venture into this apartment/hotel yesterday. To be honest I was hesitant, leave your ID at the front desk. There are notices around for jobs, items for sale and little parties going on in the lobby. There is a collection of old TVs in the lobby along with a small collection of books. The upstairs reminds me of the first building I lived in when I came to LA, living in MacArthur Park, therefore I come in open minded. There is a bathroom at the end of one hall. Hipsters, prison tattooed guys, and just old men are walking around. The only scary one was the hipster who quickly ran to his door and closed it quickly when we passed him in the hallway, he is a door sign saying NOMAIDSERVICE. They have maid service? Inside my friends place was small, but with a decent bathroom, full shower and huge windows. I would say for the extremely cheap rent, this place is not bad at all. Am I checking in, hell no. But can I walk in without being creeped, sure.
