You know when you walk into a hole in the wall restaurant and question whether this dingy place will give you food poisoning or be an amazing find that you can brag to others about? Well, that’s what I thought to myself as I walked into this place. That«B» rating in the window should have pushed my coworkers and I not to test our luck here. I ordered the combo bowl(beef/chicken). The quality and taste of the meat are similar, if not worse than Yoshinoya. I am not a fan of Yoshinoya, so you can take that comment as you would like. The food took about 15 – 20 minutes to come out, but my meat was room temperature and the rice and vegetables were very, very soggy. The plastic utensils and styrofoam cups that were given to us were also very dirty. It was not the typical«I will just wipe off that water spot with my napkin». The food is cheap/reasonably priced with adequate portion sizes, but I think you’re better off going to a fast food restaurant instead. I am thankful that this place did not give me food poisoning but I don’t want to come back here ever again.

Worst restaurant ever. We’ve been ordering from this place for about 5 years now. They forgot to bring rice along with the meal today. I called back for rice and the lady yelled at me and blamed it on her new employee. SMH. 2hrs later the other owner came back with rice, cigarette stank all over him. Never ever again.

Kiku isn’t the best Korean restaurant, but it satisfies for what it is. There is a small selection, it’s affordable, and the food is decent. Our favorites are the galbi tang — which is the short rib soup. It’s refreshing and filled with rib meat, mushrooms, and scallions. Mix some rice into it and eat it with kimchi. It will satisfy any Korean person’s stomach. Bibimbap is good too. They put in a huge amount of veggies so it’s healthy and delicious. I The ajushi is really nice everytime I’ve ordered. Kiku isn’t fine dining but it’s a great addition to dtla where everything is same-o same-o.

Tried this place for the first time today and I was not impressed. I ordered the combo bowl(beef/chicken). The beef was sliced super thin and was a lil fatty. The chicken was ok though. The bowl was small and unfortunately smothered in teriyaki sauce with more rice than veggies. Needless to say, I’m giving this place 2 stars for the ok chicken and speedy service. No, I won’t be giving them a second try.

The place is not impressive or fancy by all means but for locals and dt workers looking for a quick bite to eat, this is a steal! This place seems like it makes money mostly by orders for take out and delivery, there is a small area inside to dine in with 3 tables, and another 3 – 4 tables in the outside patio by a parking lot.(wouldn’t recommend dining in, you’re on hill st with downtown traffic, homeless people, no view of anything except the walls of the next building and a parking lot, but shoot yourself) The menu ranges from 5 – 8 bucks and has selection from teriyaki beef and chicken(fresh off the grill with sauce not to my standard. one of the staff was kind enough to let me sample a piece of the chicken when i was ordering take out.) to soon tofu and sushi rolls. I just discovered this place, and just wanted something light and simple so I went with the Soon Tofu. The portion was good, I just ate until I am full and still have dinner left. There was good amounts of tofu and soup, 3 shrimps in its shell, 2 clams in its shell and an oyster with scallions and two sides(kimchi cabbage and turnip). Overall, it was a good meal for $ 6.99. Flavor was spicy with natural sweetness from the seafood, didn’t taste too salty which i like. I will definitely come and try out more on the menu, not in a rush to do so though…

I had the korean spicy beef stew(yukgaejang) here and it absolutely blows, it hardly had any flavor and it took quite a bit of time to come out as well. Also, dining in at the lil restaurant I didn’t expect the soup to come out in a styrofoam container, you would think that would be for to-go orders only and at the very least get an actually bowl to eat out of.

I’ve eaten better but in today’s economy I got to watch the pocket. Walking the streets of downtown I found this small restaurant that looks like a small Benihana misplaced on the other side of the road away from anything. It’s like I’d never walk on that side of the street, and it’s placed between two flat lot parking. On to the food, since this place looked a little… How can I say, not a superly appetizing establishment to eat, I had a beef bowl, and for $ 5 it’s not too bad. Most things on the menu are between $ 5-$ 8 so it’s not going to break the pocket. I’m still at the experimental stages for this place, so I’m not sure if I’d recommend the sushi.

Kiku Teriyaki is a great little fast-food Japanese restaurant in downtown and we discovered them via a flyer/menu that was delivered to our door. Living in downtown, we like getting a lot of meals delivered and the pictures on their flyer looked really appetizing. Pricing was super reasonable as well, with most items being in the $ 4.59−7.99 range for rolls and $ 4.59−9.99 for different plates/combo plates. We usually order a chicken bowl or two(each serving comes with super hot miso soup), a few California rolls and a few spicy tuna rolls. All the food is VERY fresh tasting and delivery usually occurs within 30 minutes of ordering, which is great(as I usually order only when realizing I’m totally starving). The pictures are pretty indicative of what will be delivered. We’ve also never been to the actual restaurant — only had items delivered. Having ordered from them probably about ten times or more, we’ve been pretty happy with their food and service. Kiku Teriyaki is essentially fresh-tasting, quickly delivered, fast-food!(Japanese food). Free delivery with minimum order of two items — SO easy! I don’t think they take credit card and I think they’re mainly open for lunch, as I’ve called after 4PM on a weekday and no one answered.
