Very impressed with this café! Every time I do my fabric shopping, I come here! Employees are super friendly, and the food is delicious! :)

Sandwiches all looked good, but I went with the Hawaiian. So I waited to see if it was good before posting my review n oh yes it was great. Very very good.

WHAT A TERRIFICSURPRISE! My daughter and I often go downtown on Maple to shop and our favorite eatery had closed. We found Josaan’s quite by accident(it’s in a large building sharing space with fabric and wedding merchants). A true ‘hole in the wall’. Today(May 1st) was really hot and the inside corridor was cool… we JUST happened to see a sign on the sidewalk as we went outside… and realized it must refer to the tiny place we’d passed and took for ‘just another sandwich shop of no particular distinction’, yet the sign looked pleasant and beckoned to us. We went back inside and read the small menu on the outside wall of the shop. Figuring we couldn’t go too far wrong with a humble BLT and a smoothie,(figuring nothing truly great would be so almost unnoticeable), we ordered those and sat at one of the 3 small table and chair groupings just outside the shop opening. A nice young woman came out to ask if we wanted mayonnaise(yes), and brown bread, toasted, please … and she went back inside. A nice looking young man came out and asked if we would also like avocado(YES!) … and went back inside. Did we want a pickle too? Yes. Then… out came a immensely tasty looking sandwich … along with a great pickle and a smoothie that was fabulous. The BLT(and avocado)? DELICIOUS and perfectly balanced with taste and texture. The bread(perfectly toasted) was amazing too. No way in the world would either my daughter or I have expected such good food from such an unassuming place. The inside is spotless and the staff are lovely. I had seen a small sign indicating they serve ‘chocolate and strawberries’ … but wait… this place is a hole-in-the-wall off a corridor in a fabric vending building. Another sign indicated something about ‘fruit and cream’ and I paid that one no more attention either. UNTIL … I took our dishes back inside and saw what I took to be two largish desserts being boxed for delivery. Strawberries and whipped cream! I realize that, by posting this I’m risking not getting a table there(easily) after this… but when a jewel as this one is is found… well, those who have created this DESERVEALLTHEATTENTION, and rewards, they have so richly earned :)! So… go there… finding it is a bit tricky(the space is #131 and their phone # is 213−265−7377. They also do take out :) ENJOY!!!
