Just serviced my watch, and put new sterling jump rings on a pendant; with *one exception, the only place that has ever serviced that particular watch — and I’ve had it for going on 20 years. I need short watch straps which they also have. They’ve also serviced my vintage Longines [a long ago gift exchange between my late parents] which has included keeping it running — it’s neither waterproof nor battery operated; straps; crystals; and a whole new face — which came out well [they pull of the numbers which are actually on little tiny feet, then they have someone screen a new finish over the old face]. They’ve re-plated an inexpensive Swank watch sold under the Alexander Julian name — remember him? Which I very shortly thereafter lost in Houston; re-plated and got running my ma’s vintage pink-gold Bulova, and repaired her old Hamilton and replaced the black cord strap. They’ve replaced the clam-shell closure on jewelry and have replaced a number of jump rings on vintage pieces that I’ve purchased here and there. Currently, they share space with an eye doctor, Dr. Regier on the 12th floor of the Macy’s Plaza Office Building. Best to call for information: 213÷623−8070 on how to get up there — it’s easy but I don’t want to give out mis-info. I started going to Jewelers Repair Service back when they were in the Downtown Robinson’s Department Store and I’ve followed them here and there because I trust them. With the exception of my everyday watch, all of the other stuff I’ve taken there belonged to one of my parents so it has sentimental value, so I really need to feel a high honesty and integrity vibe, which I do with Gigi — the proprietress. *JRS used to be in another Department store and I didn’t realize they’d moved when I took my watch there for a new battery but I figured it’s just a battery: 1st the gal couldn’t get the backing off; then, they had this set of tools to get the back back on, which is like a set of open rings that you fit to the size of the watch which allows you to press the watch face and back together without crushing the crystal — anyway, watching her struggle to press these together, and finally having to call over a co-worker to help her was not a confidence inspiring sight and taught me a lot about service professionals and the importance of staying in touch with those that do inspire and earn confidence. The renovation of Macy’s Plaza is supposed to be complete late fall this year [2015] and she’ll still have a space with Dr. Regier, but will be a lot easier to find for walk-in traffic. It’s not just that I’ve never been disappointed — I’ve always been pleased.

I don’t know what happened to my review of a year or so ago, but I see it’s not here. So I will tell you(the truth about this place) again. To begin with, they do not treat all their customers equally, and they are not fair!!! I brought in a fine jewelry watch that my aunt left me when she passed away. It had a fine-link safety chain on it. When I took it in to them so they could tell me whether the inside of the watch was broken or if it just needed a new battery, she took my watch in the back, then stoled then tiny-link safety chain off it!!! When I asked her for my chain back, she gave me a much bigger link safety-chain!!! It’s up to them to(buy) some fine-link safety-chains — not try to steal it from the customers!!! Also, they increased their prices of even putting a battery in a watch. When the daughter(or niece) tried to explain why they’ve increased their prices, she made up a story that everytime they repair items, they have to replace their instruments. All the time no friendliness, no appreciateness,(certainly no smile), and even no thank you — for your business! Go somewhere else where they treat every customer equally and fairly. After she pulled that with the chain for my watch, I’ll never return there!

See Gigi or Stacy, they’ll fix it all for you. Goofballs inside Macy’s 3rd floor over charge just for a watch battery. I have been bringing my watches and jewelry to be fixed or battery replaced and it’s always quick and honest. I would send co-workers and friends there and they are always happy with the service too. Tell them you saw my review here on Unilocal,I’m sure they appreciate the word of mouth business and the good word.
