I don’t know what was going on exactly, but it was late on a weeknight, NOBODY else was in the restaurant, and the wait was painfully long(we were really hungry). HOWEVER, all four of us ordered the bibimbowl and all of four us could not have been more satisfied with the food. It was SO delicious, the sauces are homemade(the proprietor told us she wants to eventually sell them in supermarkets), and I altogether ate too much. As an apology for the wait, we were given free fruit smoothies and complimentary chocolate chip cookies(I believe the cookies might always complimentary though). All in all, we started off on the wrong foot and ended on the right one. I can’t vouch for any of the other food, but if what you want is an awesome bibimbowl, this is the place to go.

I was clearly disappointed with this place from the outset. The place is unkepmt. They don’t keep the hours posted. They use ingredients from Costco that they leave on the front counter and around the tiny place for everyone to look at. I couldn’t believe how dirty the place was. Looks like they just don’t care and it shows. They were rude to a guy in front of us because he wanted to buy something and get change for the meter. My wife and I tried the bibimbowl and smoothies. They were made with generic ingredients that were displayed right there and the vegetables were not fresh at all. I am a big fan of Korean food and love the tiny Korean restaurants with no ambiance. All I expect is good food and In Seoul does not even have that. No wonder they are always empty.

I’m so happy to have found this place right in my neighborhood! When I don’t have the time to drive into Koreatown, this is such an easy place to pick up some bibimbap for a quick and healthy easy dinner. My husband and I have been ordering take out from In Seoul once a week since we’ve discovered it. It’s a quaint unassuming little restaurant with super nice owners. It’s been pretty quiet whenever we’ve stopped by, but I hope people get hooked so it stays in the neighborhood.

The food is really good(and lighter then Korean generally is) and inexpensive, and is in an area that doesn’t have a lot of good, cheap restaurants. Also the owners are really nice. Don’t be an idiot, eat there. I was there late on a Saturday, so I’m not sure how busy it gets during peak hours, but it was about five minutes from the time I ordered to when they gave me my order. So it’s also quick. Again, don’t be an idiot.

Once you open the door it will feel like you are stepping into someone’s living room. Cute, kitschy and cozy… The owners are super sweet and make you feel right at home. I even got the blunt Asian compliment: «your face looks like…»(uh oh, I just came from Runyon so I was expecting her to say greasy, gross, looks like I need makeup?) «looks like nice shape.» Phew! Thanks owner lady! Btw, the food is fresh and good. Especially the homemade bimbimbap sauce which now want a jar of.

I am sooo happy that I found this place near by my house! Since there is no Casual Korean place(this place is more like Café, not a restaurant) in West Hollywood, I go there a lot whenever I miss Korean food. (Don’t need to drive down to K-town anymore!) The owner, Korean couple are super nice and friendly! She always gives me a cookie or fruits.(so sweet lady!) «Kimchi Panini» and«BiBimbowl» are my favorite. so yummy and great price for Lunch!

This place deserves this 5 star rating. As a recent import into West Hollywood and being a Korean guy born and raised in South Korea, it was really important to me that I find a Korean place near where i live that is GOOD. I would rarely say Korean food is GOOD unless they really get it right. Their Bibim Bowls(esp the one with beef) is fantastic. Ever since i discovered this place about two weeks ago, I have gone here no less than 5 times… That’s how good they are. The owners are extremely pleasant and they really try to get it right for you. They also have some fantastic chocolate chip cookies there, which I get every single time for dessert… They also have all these other panini’s and non-korean stuff which i hear are fantastic as well. It’s a small place, but it’s got everything it needs to be an amazing place. i am so happy that i found this place and I plan on being a loyal patron for a very very very long time.

If writing this review will bring in just one more customer who can also spread the word to just one other person, so on, etc… Then it’s totally worth it! I’ve driven past this place many of times and I’m kicking myself for not having come sooner. Who would have thunk that a korean noodle joint was right in the smack of my nieghborhood? The one dish that tickled me fancy was the kimchi beef noodle dish. The noodles were the mini somen type and they were so thin and chewy ~ I loved it. It was topped with kimchi, zucchini, seaweed, and lots of yummy bulgogi. Think of the broth as a mixture of bulgogi sauce and kimchi: hearty, sweet, spicy and flavorful. All the elements were there for some delicious slurping! The cost? $ 6.50. Superb deal. Totally worth it. And guess what? The super nice owner gave me a free dessert cookie. It was the perfect sweet bite after a hearty bowl of noodles. Heads up though. Don’t expect banchan or an elaborate setting of food. This place is tiny but serves up nice meals for quick bites or for pickup. They’ve also got rice bowls, paninis, salads, etc… I’m looking forward to my next visit there. It’s truly a little hidden gem. Good food, good prices, and good service. Please stop by, check it out, and spread the looooooooooooove!

I’ve driven up and down Beverly boulevard many times since In Seoul opened in 2007 and I never had a clue there was a tiny eatery at 8230. So when Kwiri Y. planed an UYE with FREE food at IS I had to go. There were 80 confirmed attendees but with last-minute warnings of over-crowding only 10 folks showed up, turning the tasting into a feast for us lucky few. What Chef Julie has created is a lighter and healthier version of some traditional Korean dishes and some of her own fusion creations. The In Seoul Smoothie($ 4.00) was yummy with red beans, organic milk and a splash of honey. The Kimchi Panini($ 4.50) was oh so good and the Chicken Wrap($ 6.50) had a surprise of super heat to grow hair on your chest. Also at the top of my list is the beef bibim bowl($ 8.50). While it is traditionally a composed salad of marinated vegetable and meat over rice, Chef Julie uses some fresh vegetables for a slightly new twist. The one dish I was not a fan of is the Kimchi Kimbab($ 5.50) which is beef, kimchi and Swiss cheese in a sort of sushi roll. I don’t feel kimchi pairs as well with Swiss cheese as it does with a milder mozzarella like in the panini. I was surprised there are no soups on the menu as I am a big fan of Korean bean paste soups. There are many items on the menu to choose like 6 different bowls and 8 different kimchi specials in addition to a slew of smoothies, salads, and hot and cold sandwiches. And In Seoul is a like a breath of fresh air for those tired of KBQQ. (The highlight of the evening for me completely unrelated to the food was that I discovered new CM Christina’s boyfriend Cody went to college with Brett Erlich, co-host of Current TV’s «Rotten Tomato Show» of whom I am an obsessed fan. One degree of separation to go!)

The discovery of In Seoul Café = Pearl in the oyster! This is a true hole in the wall restaurant on Beverly blvd near the Beverly center. I was referred to In Seoul café by a very close friend a while ago and finally had the chance to visit with few of my non Korean friends! In Seoul café is a Small cozy café is owned by a very sweet old Korean couple Julie and James =D I tried numerous Korean Fushion style dishes, But nothing can top Julie’s Kimchi Tortilla and Kimchi Panini! One bite, and it just blew me away to another continent! Julie is a well-known Korean sauce specialist in the Korean community. She is probably the sweetest and most generous restaurant owner I’ve ever met! She treats all of my friends and all her customers like a family! For god’s sake, she gives a week worth of food portion for less than $ 10!!! The ingredients are fresh and healthy! If you are hesitant to try her food, feel free to ask for samples! I love how Julie’s intention is to help people to understand that Korean food is not just«Korean BBQ». Here are my personal recommendations. Drinks: 1. InSeoul Tea: Citrus honey tea with ginseng and herbs(very sweet and delicious) 2. InSeoul Smoothie: AMAZING!!! Even if you don’t like red beans, you’ll fall in love!!! Main Dishes: 1. Kimchi Panini 2. Kimchi Tortilla(can be slightly spicy, but dare yourself! You’ll want to come back for more!) 3. In Seoul BiBimBowl(speaking of HEALTHY Dish!) you’ll be full and not have to worry about working out at 5am in the morning. You can satisfy your belly happy and dine healthy with less than $ 10 dollars per person! And always remember to ask for Julie’s handmade cookies! She loves baking them and giving them away for her regular customers!

Love this place. Great food, friendly service, quiet atmosphere. I eat here at least twice/week and Julie and James make wholesome, organic food. Recommendations: 1. Julie’s Chicken Breast Salad Sandwich is loaded for $ 6.50. Comes with salad, fruit and if you’re nice, maybe even a cookie. 2. Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Choice of white or brown rice. Big and delicious. $ 7. 3. In Seoul Bibim Bowl. My personal favorite. I’ve seen Julie trimming the beef and chicken just for this masterpiece. And if you’re not a carnivore, she also preps a veggie version. $ 8.50 with miso and fruit for dessert. Yum! Last but not least, get a smoothie. They make them fresh and they’re downright the best. Personal fave is the Tropical Smoothie for $ 3.50. Now quit drooling on your keyboard and hike on over!

Quaint & Tasty! This is a little sandwich/salad shoppe. Its Korean, duh. I stuck to an american classic a Tuna & Caper Salad. Quite delish. Nothing to exciting about it, but it was good. The funny thing was, I started the induction faze of the Atkins diet. Carrotts contains a higher side of carbs for veggies. Well this salad had a ½ of handful of carrotts sprinkled over it. I took the carrotts, no problem right. WRONG! The lady working the counter saw that I didnt eat them, so she asked if they were bad. I told her I was on a DIET. Well she thought that if I couldnt have Carrots I could have COOOOKIES. So she brought a Sugar Cookie & a Oatmeal Cookie. Dammitt. Those damn cookies just would not stop looking at me… so I had to fricken eat them. The Sugar was so damn good. Im going back to have one of those amazing cookies, after the diet, of course. Check it out.

After driving by it several times on the way home, my curiosity got the best of me, and I had to go in… and I am so glad I did! This is totally my idea of comfort food. The kimchi noodles — were spicy and savory enough to hit all the right spots. And for a mere $ 5, they can’t be beat. My husband’s kimchi bibimbap was delicious too. Totally want to get that. To wash it all down, we shared the coffee smoothie which definitely beats anything from a certain chain with a confusing mermaid. To top it off, the woman and man who owned it are 2 of the sweetest people, and kept checking up on us to make sure we liked our food, then gave us sliced oranges at the end, just like mom. A small, hidden gem, I really hope they manage to survive this economy.

This is your friendly neighborhood café/hang-out with an interesting Korean twist. The owners of this café, Julie and James, are as sweet as they come. All the ingredients they use are organic and fresh. The price point is unmatched. And the food tastes great. Don’t think you can ask for more, really. Folks, let’s keep this one around.

I’d been driving by In Seoul on my way home from work and promising myself I’d stop there for months. Yesterday I finally kept my word to myself, aided and abetted by my partneress in crime, the charming Miss Regina T. Tired from a day of pampering and walking, walking and pampering(pedicures! shopping for lingerie! window gazing! eating at Breadbar!) we were bone tired and in need of liquid refreshment. We stopped by In Seoul, and were greeted by the charming, soft-spoken owner(actually, co-owner with her husband). In Seoul’s menu is small, but the ambiance is restuful and the food offered is fresh, clean, and very tasty, if our tiny sampling is any indication. I had a very refreshing and energizing Vegetable Energizer, which was basically a smoothie made with carrots, celery, ginger, and fresh apples. It was not, as I had feared, overly sweet(a‘ la Jamba Juice) but pleasantly bracing and tangy. R’s rainbow sushi(which she nicely shared with me) was also beautifully presented and tasty. We whiled away our time there flipping through Korean magazines(oh, to read Korean and decipher the mysteries of those gastro-intestinal cross-section drawings alongside pictures of happy smiling men in white uniforms) and discussing the wacky wild«Valley of the Dolls» shop next door. It was closed when we walked by, but will definitely merit a visit and a Unilocal review. Please do try«In Seoul.» The owner charmed me completely by saying she would keep her prices low for the forseeable future«because the economy is bad.» I wish Joan from Joan’s on Third followed a similar ethic.
