HVW8 Art + Design Gallery

Finally visited this spot for Kevin Lyons’ «Shits & Giggles» exhibit that is going on right nowwww. He collaborated with other artists including Baron Von Fancy whose work I also follow. I had pre-​purchased these Air Jordan Flashcards (made by the artist himself) online and since I live in LA, decided to choose In-​Person Pick-​Up so I can check out the exhibit as well. Small space, right off Melrose, street parking easy to find. Was greeted by 2 guys and when I told them I was there to pick-​up the Air Jordan Flashcards, they knew exactly who I was. Great and friendly service! And I believe these are sold out online too so the guy said I was a smart one for pre-​ordering it.
Love the mural K. Lyons did out back in the parking lot right behind the gallery. Must take a look and must take a picture!
The guys added me onto their mailing list so hopefully will return to another one of their exhibits soon! For now, I’ve been admiring my flashcards and can’t wait to show my uneducated friendsies.

New works by Parra entitled «Kind Regrets» at HVW8 Art + Design Gallery. If you’re familiar with his works they have always maintained a certain trademark theme and motif. This exhibit is no different and consist of paintings, drawings, and sculptures, featuring Parra’s surreal and unique characters. Particularly strange «men with bird heads, fleshy and voluptuous women with round sensual bodies, mixed with texts and themes that span from sarcastic and introspective to ironic and bold, all the way to nonsensical.» Exhibit runs till November 11, 2012.
