I wanted to try something different for lunch today after reading about the twice cooked pork I was intrigued. I must say the lunch special is awesome soup, salad and an entrée. The dish was fantastic and light it had the perfect mixture of cabbage, green onions, tofu and pork. The sauce was so good I wanted to go to the kitchen and high five the chef. Can’t wait to try something different.

Everyone loves this place so much and I honestly don’t get it. It’s just standard rubbery take out food. Also, this past Tuesday when my family ordered from here there was hair and a bug in my rice(only time I am aware of that this happened and we order from here often). Unacceptable though.

The service was great, the place is a little older but well kept and reminds me of my grandparents home. The food was delicious but its not authentic — still well made. If you go for the lunch and dinner specials they’re a great deal. Great portions and was a nice experience.

Came to eat here today… an old spot here in Palms. been around since I was a kid attending Palms Elem. Definitely not what it used to be. I think they should update the interior as the ceiling is molded now. and looks unsafe. The food is decent, my salad looked a few days brown and packaged. thrown together like. and all the family sits around and stands around the tables while you eat. it’s a little uncomfortable. Like they’re staring at you as you eat. cool joint from the past. but times have changed.

We were there on Friday nite and it was awesome My wife and I love this place and a particular server. They are all nice but this one particular one is our guy We had shrimp with snow peas! Spicy eggplant! A tofu dish! Al dishes were served hot and fresh This has to be the best Chinese restaurant in the 90034 I don’t know what the other negative posts are all about We are back today, 5/31…everything was excellent as usual!

I like this place. My husband and I came here last night and the service was extremely friendly. All of our food was quick. The portions are gigantic. We have enough left over for a full lunch. We had hot and sour soup, egg rolls, fried rice, steamed rice, chicken chow mein, and sweet and sour chicken. All of it was delicious. We would definitely come back(well I have been here before my husband said he would definitely come back). Yes, parking is a bit difficult in this neighborhood, so we normally park on Motor where there is meter parking and walk a block.

I’m from mainland China and am thrilled to find out this place in my neighborhood. The portion is generous and the owners are kind. Plus the flavor is good. Definitely recommend!

This is the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I now live in SF unfortunately. When I used to travel to LA regularly, I always left time to stop for to go order before hitting LAX. THEBESTSZECHUANSHRIMPEVER! Delicious sauce and tons of giant shrimp. Excellent sweet and sour anything. Twice cooked pork melts in your mouth. I used to ask for house fried rice New York style(which just means extra soy sauce so it is brownish vs white). Old family recipes. Exactly the same every time. Any bad review must be for something I haven’t had cause I’m sitting here craving those shrimp and wish I had the recipe.

I was not a big fan of this place. I’m not sure if I am not a fan on Szechwan food or I am not a fan of this place specifically. The food seemed very expensive to me, which others have commented about. And the flavors were just okay. I’ve eaten at Panda Express and other Mom and Pop Chinese places that were much better and cheaper. I am also a pretty picky eater so it could just be me. I tried the wings, shrimp, dumplings, beans, cucumbers, and plain white rice, and nothing really stood out to me. They also don’t really have parking and it’s located on a really weird corner. I would only come back if others wanted to.

My new chill restaurant. I love how they have been in the business since the 1970s. The food was very good and authentic. It was a great treat!

This place needs four $$$$ signs. Its beyond expensive for the quality of food. The décor is something outta of the 70’s. Im sorry hu but you unless I sell a kidney I won’t be eating at your establishment

I ordered the double cooked pork and sweet and sour chicken. The taste is good but a little different from the Chinese food in China. The meal is really big for me. They served two plates of Chinese pickles additionally.

Been coming here since I was in high school. I haven’t dined in since 1999, but have ordered delivery many times. My go to favorites are Kung Pao chicken and wok fried green beans. Flavors haven’t changed, however, I noticed they don’t clean the stems off of the green beans very well as of late, but I really don’t mind. Their Kung Pao sauce is tangy, not too sweet and spicy. I wish I can have it everyday, but that would completely ruin my diet.

Back in the days before my phone was smarter than me, I used to have a Hu’s menu in my car and would order take out or dine in with my Chinese girlfriend on a regular basis. It had been many years since my last visit, primarily because I now live 3000 miles away. Since it was my last day in town and I was nearby, I had my last LA dinner at this old favorite. The interior hasn’t changed. Sparsely decorated with common culturally appropriate items you can find in Chinatown, and a dozen or so tables. The staff was always friendly and that has not changed. The gentleman who waited on my table was a true professional and came back multiple times to check on me and make sure everything was going well. I had a few old favorites. The spicy chilled cucumber was refreshing with a bite and as delicious as I remembered. Hu’s was the first place I ever had that dish. The Szechwan wontons in hot garlic sauce were fantastic pillows of meaty flavorful awesomeness! I finished up with an order of Yu Hsiang chicken which was also very tasty although my perception was that it may not have been quite so bountiful with chicken as I’d recalled. I’m glad I made it back to Hu’s on my latest trip to LA, and will certainly try to be more diligent in getting there again the next time I’m in town.

I think Hu’s has the best Kung Puo chicken in town, hands down! Large portions, decent pricing, nice waiter. I’ve been going there for 10 years now, and it’s always consistent. Also I must recommend the egg rolls. Parking is a bit tough, so now I take Lyft there.

Wasn’t for me:( The chow mein had way too much garlic Orange chicken was pretty good tho! Great staff, very nice people I paid $ 38 for 2 orders of chow mien&1 order of orange chicken. (1 order feeds 1 – 2 ppl) Parking was impossible! And this was on a Sunday night.

Wow I didn’t think this place could get worse, but it has. I went in for lunch a few days ago. Their lunch specials come out to a little over $ 11 which is higher than most Chinese lunch specials. Putting the price aside, the food was seriously the worst I’ve had in a very long time. I’m not really sure what the chicken was made out of. I couldn’t eat it and that’s saying a lot considering how much I love food. I tried the Kung Pao Chicken. Avoid Kung Pao at all costs! Lol that sounded weird… but seriously, don’t do it.

It is with a heavy heart that I give Hu’s three stars. I used to love coming here, the shrimp dishes, the szechwan dumplings… all so tasty. I’m not one to usually factor in pricing, because different people have different amounts of money to spend. However, I *will* rate on value, and Hu’s has totally lost it. It’s not just expensive, it’s *overpriced.* The restaurant itself has always been dumpy — your typical no-style Chinese restaurant that puts about $ 20 into decorations. OK, fine, I usually get it to go. But the pricing has now gotten OUTRAGEOUS. I picked up a takeout order for four and was handed a bill for $ 90. For Chinese takeout! Over $ 20 for shrimp dishes, and just about everything else was $ 13-$ 15. The food has always been great(four star Chinese takeout), but it’s not amazing, it’s not worth this kind of money. For this money, I’d rather make a trek to San Gabriel and get the real deal. Sorry Hu’s, I just can’t justify you anymore.

My favorite Chinese restaurant on the west side. They also deliver to Venice! Great range of food, must try the Szechwan Dumplings. A little higher priced than some places but worth it. Delivery is always timely.

Dry Fried String Beans(with or without pork)… … My friend grabbed my hand, dragged me across Rose Avenue to as she put it, experience«the best green beans ever»(no pork). She was right. We shared an order with plain rice and sipped tea. I can still picture the unassuming storefront, our cozy table near Hu’s entrance. That was pre-Yelp, many years so. Impromptu Tony Awards party sent a guest to Hu’s for one order(We called it in. Hu’s delivers but we were outta their jurisdiction.) of those beans(no pork), sweet and sour shrimp and veggie fried rice, which served, make that stuffed(we’re light eaters), the four of us while we patiently waited for the show to begin. Hu’s was kind enough to comp us four crispy veggie eggrolls, hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce for our starter. Can’t believe I forgot to take pics(did set a fine table though) but trust me, everything arrived as ordered, tasty and filling to absorb previously consumed cocktails. Those beans were exactly as I remembered them, al dente, flavorful with a hint of garlic non-overwhelming, just right. The shrimp, lightly breaded was tender amidst bell peppers and pineapple. Fried rice is not my fave but Hu’s was well-prepared, requisite peas and carrots. 3.5 Stars rounded up, as there is much to be said for decades worth of consistency and complimentary egg rolls.
