Cheap, low quality food. Service is slooow and clean is not the way I would describe the inside. Whatever you eat there today you will regret tomorrow. Make sure restroom is close by.

Restaurant is dirty, the cook was playing with his phone just before making my naan without washing his hands. The food was watered down and had no flavor. Will never invest another dollar into this place. The guys working looked angry and miserable and the food reflected it.

I’ve had the chicken tikka here before and it was pretty good but this last time it was really terrible. This place is very inconsistent and I’ll probably find another Indian restaurant.

I live blocks from this place, and have been a customer for years. I’ve had great and so-so meals there because the crew seems to change constantly. I understand that, even enjoy the variety as long as it’s good. Recipes seem to reflect whoever is cooking and you just never know. But it’s local, and generally OK. Tonight, a Saturday, worst ever. I was surprised when the guy answering tried to deflect my phone order and told me to just come in and order over the counter.(I know better) I told him I had my order right in front of me, so he took it, reluctantly. When I arrived for pick up 25 min. later, I recognized no one on staff, and they were running around frantic and confused like a Chinese fire drill. Then I waited as if I had just ordered. $ 48 and 45 min after I made my order I was on my way. At home, the food was so bad I couldn’t believe it. A 16 oz. Tikka Masala was 60% sauce, practically NO chicken. An order of Daal Makani was just a cup of bean juice with bean residue in the bottom. Chicken Vindaloo was weak in a thin tasteless broth. etc. While I didn’t engage the staff much, I had plenty of time waiting to watch their rude and inefficient interactions with those poor souls in line trying to order. Much eye rolling and mouth gaping. They’ve lost me for good. Too bad, used to be pretty good.

This place was gross! I have had Indian food and this place is not good Indian food. The man was really kinda pushy too. The food was so gross I didn’t even finish it I just threw it away as well as my boyfriend threw his away. It was so nasty he threw up after eating it! Will NEVER return again!

They are good and would get 4 stars if they weren’t restrictive on their coupons. They offer coupons but they only tell you in person that you can ONLY use it for ala carte items, which is not the greatest deal.

Underrated. Take it from a foodie. Yes the place is a «fast food concept» but the chefs know what they are doing. Just don’t let the old building bother you.

I wish I could be reviewing the food. But I called to make an order for pick up and he said he was too busy and hung up on me! I can’t believe a restaurant would do that. I don’t think I’ll be trying to place an order again.

I am surprised to see all the negative reviews, because I really liked the food. This was my first time here and I enjoyed the food. Being an indian I can say that the food was authentic and they used the right amount of spices. We ordered a meal for two and the portions were generous. We had enough food leftover for dinner. We got garlic naan and it was soft and tasty. Typically the meal for 2 combo comes with meat but since we are vegetarian they changed those for vegetarian dishes. So, we got 6 vegetables, rice, 2 naan and raita. I loved their black dal and mixed vegetable. Their chana masala was pretty standard like most indian restaurants. I did not like their aloo peas sabzi because it had no taste. It did not have enough salt and the spices were inadequate. I cook a lot of indian food so I tend to be picky! Overall, it was a good experience. I would not really recommend dine-in, Its more of a place where you can take stuff to-go. Parking is sparse and so the next option is street parking if you can find a spot. Owners were pretty friendly and accommodating. I would recommend going here to get some decent and affordable to-go indian meal.

If you are looking for good authentic Indian favors, Hurry Curry is your place! My fast and convenient go to with friendly staff and decent prices. Only slight complaint is that I have noticed the portion size has decreased(and rice increased) since the owner retired, but still a solid staple.

The prepared food looked like middle school cafeteria slop, old and dry. There were only 3 vegan options: chana masala, cabbage and peas, and aloo gobi. I got the first two. The taste was surprisingly not bad. My SO’s chicken curry looked a lot better than mine. Maybe cause the vegan options aren’t as popular and sit out longer. The service was friendly and fast, and the food is inexpensive. I’d go back if there was nothing else open. The food didn’t taste nearly as gross as it looked, but I bet it would’ve been a lot better fresh. Samosa House in Culver City is soo much better.

Cheap and Fast! If you want cheap or fast only 5 stars! Really really cheap Indian food with lots of selections during lunch time. However, despite ordering off the lunch already prepared options, the Chicken Tikka Masala was really bland. The Garlic Naan was decent. If I want cheap, I might still go back.

Come here for some really good Indian food. Absolute best garlic naan I’ve ever had. Very good prices; a 3 item combo will be enough for two people. The saag paneer and goat curry are my favorite. Also, there’s a very nice seating area. I eat here at least once a week. Never had anything less than stellar here. I eat a lot of Indian food and this little hole in the wall is my favorite!

Nice hole-in-the-wall place. The server is super polite, the décor is lacking(clean, but weird cushy seats with cafeteria tables-you’ll see), but the food is pretty good. Lunch Combos range from $ 7.99-$ 10.99. They’re vegetable dishes are good(«cabage», eggplant), and I really liked the mango chicken and goat curry. My naan was a little burnt tho, but overall I left satisfied. Food tastes legit, street parking wasnt that hard to find, and the price was decent. I’d go back again when my Indian craving returns.

I am so sad that tonight may have been my last night to get food at Hurry Curry after 20ish years. They have always been our local go-to spot when you do need that Curry in a Hurry. Sure the quality have varied a bit over the years, but still definitely good, and we even liked our dinner tonight. The issue I have is with their overcharges. A few months ago I walked into a situation where the owner was arguing with a homeless woman who had money to get an order of chick peas and nan. When she went to pay he added a few $ on for some reason, which no one could understand. I gave her the the $ 2 and he gave her the food, but he wold not explain why he over charged her. When I got home I noticed they overcharged me $ 5. And it happened again tonight. When he totaled my order and I knew it was more than it should be and asked to see the breakdown, he told me he couldn’t because he processed the transaction? I had a hungry child with me, so we went home, quick math and it was $ 6 over charge this time. When I called to ask, he just argued and told me if I wanted to go over it I had to drive back right at that moment and he would not go over it on the phone. So pretty good food, but not as low price unless you really watch your bill.

What the eff??? This isn’t Hurry Curry. I’ve been comin here for three years. I know it like the back of my hand. Right off the bat, I noticed that the dining room looked different and they’ve brightened up the place. I take a look at the food and the food labels have changed. No longer do you see«Chicken Saagwala» or «Chana Masala». It’s «Chicken Spinach» or «Chickpeas». I even called them by their names and I was corrected«Chicken Spinach». We ordered two garlic naan and samosas. Shockingly, the naan was terrible. It’s no longer soft, thick, or appetizing. My food was terrible. Like really bad. I couldn’t even finish the tray. The chicken looked like it had been reused from the Tikka Masala the day before. The lentils had mystery ingredients and no flavor. The chickpeas were watery and undercooked. The rice was hard and undercooked too. What the hell happened to this place??? How could it be that an LA staple like Hurry Curry can change so quickly; for the worst no less. Does anyone have any answers? I’m so sad at my most recent experience. The worst part is, I don’t know where the hell I can go now to get damn good Indian food. I have to report that the samosas were actually pretty damn good and soft. The dipping sauces were changed though. This place has lost its spunk. I hate to say it, but avoid this place and save your money. I’m not going back until I know that the old chef has returned.

*Heads up, I am of Indian decent* I had actually heard good things about this place by some of my Indian friends but I don’t know why. I was really surprised by the poor quality of the food, pretty terrible service, and sad nature of the atmosphere(for example, when you dine-in, food is still served in Styrofoam). I went with a group of friends and no one enjoyed their meal. The portions are fairly generous but who wants more of something that’s not that great to begin with. I remember someone ordered fish and it was SO fishy! It also wasn’t really authentic and was over-spiced. The price and naan were good but not good enough to ever go back.

I used to be a regular(for 6+ years!!). My last visit there was horrible! The food is BLAND! Everything tasted the same(differences were only in color and texture). Everything lost its flavor(no spices and no longer spicy). Even the naan was horrid(which is hard to mess up in my opinion), lack of garlic and TWOHUGEBURNHOLES. Sadly, their sauces(green & red) also lost their zest. I wonder if they are trying to cater to a different palate or if they hired a horrible cook? Lastly, it looks like they have new people working there and the person forgot to give me my Raita that comes with the«Dinner for 2» special… which I love. I called the person back and they did not offer any sort of solutions(e.g., next time you can get a discount or get an extra Raita on the side – the one we didn’t give you). She actually hung up on me, though it could have been an accident(benefit of the doubt here). I will try them out one last time(perhaps they have a new cook??) and I suggest you sample the foods you want to purchase(I did not because I have been coming for years and this was never an issue – I know what I like), I know I will. I hope their food picks up on flavor again; otherwise, I will have to find a new go-to Indian Food restaurant :(

Good if you’re in a hurry and craving Indian! Watch out for the to go «overage» issue though — one of the guys puts so much in the container it spills all over the place on the way home. Happens every time, so you have to ask him not to overdo it!

Let me start off by saying I love Indian food! But this place wouldn’t be the best place to start off with if your trying Indian cuisine for the first time. The chicken was a little tough in the Tikka Masala, the food itself lacks preparation… Didn’t taste anything like what I’ve had before. The garlic Naan was okay I’ve had bigger portions of it for the same price. The Mango Chicken was decent I must say. I don’t think I would go here again though, I was just really hungry and Indian food by my work is always a win lol

This is my nearby«go-to» Indian restaurant. I’m a regular. I don’t very easily become a regular anywhere. I love Indian food anyway, but the flavors cultivated here are simply amazing. The Chicken Saag is outstanding, the baby eggplant is something I always hope to see, because they don’t always feature it, but I get it when I can because it brings ecstasy o my taste buds. I also love the Chana Massala, The Chicken Tika Massala, the Daal, and the Baingan Bharta. This is not a fancy place. Although the décor has been upscaled with some go very comfortable new chairs, the meals are served on styro with plastic cutlery awaiting. No frills here. They do offer some items normally seen in the corner shop in London, and there are a variety of beverages to choose from, but I come for the flavors and only that. All other considerations are peripheral and seem unimportant. The people working here are pleasant — they know me by now, but I’ve had comments that one of them can be surly. Never to me. The naan is fantastic and is made when you order. Namaste!

Their rice is amazing and curry can’t be beat for the price. They also have recently remodeled and it’s absolutely gorgeous in there compared to how it used to look. However with the recent remodel somethings happened to their food because it’s just not the same. Used to go here all the time when I lived in Marina Del Rey and have gone back several times since only to be disappointed that it’s just not like it used to be. It’s still probably the best curry for the price in the area.

Disappointed. I’ve eaten Hurry Curry’s food several times over the last few years, and always enjoyed it, but not so much this time. This was the first time the garlic naan bread was burnt, and slightly bitter. The goat was not braised long enough and was still tough, and chewy. Plus, WATCHOUT for all those BONE fragments that they sloppily left in the sauce. Very scary. There was also, a slightly bitter and burnt taste in the eggplant. The rice was excellent, and the raita [cooling yogurt sauce] was good. And the cauliflower was very good as well. Something has changed at this place, and NOT for the better. It’s like they are in too much of a hurry to make proper curry… :-) Maybe they just had a bad day, I dunno. I did not finish the food, and I normally love leftovers, but not this time… right in the trash. Plus, my stomach is not feeling very good right about now. Certainly does NOT make me want to go back there anytime soon. Oh well… such is life.

The only reason I’m giving this place 1 star is because I’ve been there twice prior to my last experience and was semi-satisfied with the food; however, the thought of giving any more stars after my last experience makes me feel disgusting. A few weeks ago, my husband went out to pick us up some chicken tikka masala because I had a HUGE pregnancy craving for Indian food. He brought back 2 combo dinners to which we immediately started shoveling into our mouths. All was well until about 5 minutes into eating I found a PIECEOFGAUZE or a breathe right strip buried in my curry! Both of us incredibly disappointed, called Hurry Curry to kindly notify them of this and the man on the phone rudely said«come in and I give you whatever you want» and hung up. My husband looked at me and asked what we should do and I suggested we take a picture of what we found, then bring all the food back and simply get a refund. Reasonable right? When we got there, we pulled the sweaty rotund man to the side to quietly show him what we found and he grasped the piece of gauze so tightly and tried to take it from me as quickly as he could, took a look at it and said, «it’s an onion» in an audible voice probably so as not to alarm his customers. We both look at him in disbelief because we know he’s so full of sh*t. I pointed out that I could see the fibers of fabric in it and it is clearly not like any onion I’ve ever seen harvested on this planet. As we were explaining, he rudely turns away and says«OKOK i give change», so he took the piece of gauze and we assumed he was getting us our refund, but we noticed him getting us more curry, which was the last thing we would ever want. We shook our hands at him to signal that we didn’t want more food and told him«We would just like a refund». He replied, «No, no refund… This machine, I don’t know refund». What?!? At that point we were so fed up with the guy that we just told him to forget it and headed for the door. I will never go back there again. I’m so beyond disgusted because the fact that he was trying to play us for fools meant that he knew exactly where that piece of cloth came from and I just don’t even want to know. I posted the photo we took of it for you all to see. Is it an onion? Gauze? You be the judge. FYI. That was our last goodbye to marina del Rey before moving an hour north. Disappointing!

I’m really on the border between 3 and 4 stars. the place gets a lot of flak for the quality of food, but I think it’s a great value for the price. The portions are huge and they usually stuff your box to the brim, which is much appreciated. Yes, the chicken tikka masala is a bit watery and reminiscent of Bombay Coast or similar low quality indian restaurant, but the lamb curry is much better and the vegetable dishes are pretty decent as well. The service is lamentable. The employee(s)/owner look absolutely miserable/annoyed every time I’ve gone there and can easily come off as rude. Just pick your food, pay and leave quietly and avoid eye contact if possible.

I came in 30 min before closing and started to look at the menu. I got a «We don’t serve that now» in a rude voice. In front of me were metal containers looking like a school canteen. I politely asked what the different things were and he told me two out of 12 or something. All of it looked like it had been there the whole day. I got Chicken Tikka and Lamb Curry, garlic naan, rice, raita and mango lassi to go. The only tasty things were the bread and the lassi. The food was bland and gave you a feeling of getting food poisoned and the raita was super extremely sour. I wasn’t annoying at all but two times I got asked in a rude tone«Do you have any more questions?». I added one more bread to the order and paid by cash the second time. I got a question if I wanted change on a $ 20 bill for a $ 2 bread. Eh, yes please. Service was terrible and the food the worst Indian I’ve had ever. Only reason I went there was because every other Indian place closed earlier.

3.5. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I was a little wary since the reviews were not glowing and whenever I would pass by the place was empty. I don’t disagree with the other reviews… the food here is just ok but the garlic naan earned it the third star. My cousin and I went here and she got the Combo 3 where you get one meat item two veggie items, naan, raita and rice. She chose the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and a chickpea curry. All for abour $ 9 which I think it pretty cheap for Indian food. The chicken tikka was lackluster I give it a 1. I am used to booming flavors and heat. This was definitely muted. The saag paneer was pretty good though a little bland, the spinach flavor came through pretty strong. I appreciated the heat that came from it though! The chickpeas were a surprise, not something I would have ordered on my own, but the flavors were there and HEAT! THEGARLICNAANTHOUGH! It was fresh, hot, fluffy and most importantly garlicky. I would come back again.

YES! Many times YESSSSSS! Indian curry has always been a hit or miss with me, depending on where I go and what kind of curry I eat. I will start off by saying that the curry at this place is amazing, and for their lunch combo deals they have a great selection of meat curries and vegetarian curries. This place is great for vegetarians! The selection is amazing and the food was spectacular. There is one reason why I gave this place 4 stars. Upon walking into the restaurant I get turned off heavily by the intense smell of turmeric. To be frank, I am not bothered by turmeric as much when it is used in food, but since the open kitchen does not have ventilation that airs out the cooking smell, the whole place ends up smelling like turmeric. But besides that, I would highly suggest you get their garlic naan(they charge extra for that) but it’s so worth it! Literally the best naan I’ve ever had anywhere. It came right off the pan and it was warm, a little chewy, and very pleasant to eat. Would come back here anyday.

steam table place with yummy yummy curries what i ate: — dinner for 2: 2 plates w/raita, rice, 2 proteins, 4 veggies, naan. i got raita, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, mixed veggies, garlic naan. this was probably way too much food, but like a champ i got through it(oink oink). the chicken tikka masala was good, though the chicken was a tad dry, i think bc it was white meat. the saag paneer was good, but i’ve had better. i really liked the mixed veggies — it was in a curry like sauce, and had a nice spicy kick to it. the garlic naan was amazing, but how can you not like carbs with garlic? oh the one thing i didnt like was the rice. it was incredibly salty for some reason. — mango lassi: sweet, thick, good. though after getting the diner for 2, this was another meal in itself. pros: — plenty of options to get a lil bit of everything if you get the dinner for 2 option — garlic naan was fresh and delicious — best bang for your buck kind of place. meaning, it’s really cheap! i think they have great lunch specials — food, for the most part, was very very tasty and it’s very filling — small parking lot in the back, but when i went on a saturday night, there was also plenty of street parking cons: — not the classiest of establishments — dining room area was really messy. most of the tables were not wiped down — bathroom also left much to be desired. very dirty. would i come again? maybe, if i was in the area and wanted something cheap
