I’m from San Diego where acai bowls are done really well, so it said a lot that we actually liked this place! The acai bowls were on par with the ones we eat in SD, and definitely hit the spot. The interior of the place is really quaint.(Fake) grass benches, and plenty of table games to play while waiting for your smoothie/acai bowl to be ready. More than anything, the service was really good! We interacted with two staff workers and the manager, and all three of them were incredibly nice. I was blown away by their kind service!

Like they state on the door: one of the best açai bowls in the universe. Really good açai bowl! It has a lot of toppings which I find perfect for my palate since I like to have the granola and fruit with every bite of açai. This one is just perfect! I had a bowl like this one at Juice Generation in New York but it doesn’t have as much fruit and nuts as the Grotto one. The fruit is super fresh and the açai blend with almond milk is so refreshing that I had it in the park while taking a sunbath. The bowl has a decent size to fill you up and it costs around $ 9. Not a bad lunch and very healthy. Go to Grotto and order an açai bowl now!

The Dreamers Acai Bowl is good(and pricey), but I was disappointed that you get charged extra for using a Debit Card if there’s not a $ 10 minimum… kind of annoying. Also the Service is kind of Hit or Miss.

You can’t take an order over the phone you say? When your product takes over 10 to 15 minutes to make then local residents are gonna want to place their orders in advance over the phone. If I’m in the car I’m not going to pull up online ordering Bc guess what, that’s dangerous. And it’s a pain in the ass. I’ll be taking my regular, repeat business elsewhere if this how you choose to treat your customers. It’s pretty much BS to be so unaccomodating. If you haven’t noticed, you have competition in the neighborhood and you’re slipping big time with this one. Not mention the snotty girl that conveyed this information to me. Big UGH! I will never come back to your business and your snarky response proves just how much of an ass you all are. Everyone talks on blue tooth while driving but no I’m not gonna jump online to place an order because it’s inconvient.

I can’t deny this is pricey however can you truly put a price on healthy living? Gold star for David and crew at the Green Grotto. I truly appreciated his knowledge of menu and health when I mentioned what I was looking for or really what my body needed, and he had answers. Not only did I try their namesake, but I got a shot of energy on the side with gratitude. Thank you David for a happy and healthy break!

Slow, overpriced and just not tasty. First went when they had just opened and sadly it has been downhill from there.

Love half of patty Tuesday’s! Their Jamaican patties are fresh, and oh so good! The best I’ve had in LA! Decided to try The Dreamer(Acai bowl) as well today! Prices are very good compared to their competitors down the street. Highly recommended! Oh and love the access to games, free wi-fi, and charging stations.

I am ADDICTED to this place. As a former bartender, I am huge on customer service. The owner is the kindest person. He makes the environment very welcoming. And all the food goes beyond expectations, too. Everything is deliciously fresh and there is a wide selection of products to choose from. From acai bowls to fresh coconuts. I love it. Working across the street is a blessing and a curse. TAKEMYMONEY!

Stumbled upon this place by accident after leaving the Last Bookstore and it’s a cute little place. Very clean, cozy and has games to play too so it makes the wait for the order pass by quickly. The staff is very friendly and helpful in explaining the items on the menu. We decided to get the Believer bowl and it’s pretty good, a little too minty for my taste but it’s good overall, I’d highly recommend coming here!

Longtime Unilocal Lurker. Signed up just to leave this review. I usually go to another place to get Acai bowls but decided to stop by here to try it out. Here the bowls taste more fresh than other places I think its ingredients they use. Its more smooth compared to the icey type Acai bowls from other spots. The owner is hella cool and the atmosphere is chill. I hear they have Jamaican Patties that are bomb also. Will be back to try those out and confirm.

Delicious! I tried the Dreamer bowl — my first time having an acai bowl ft. peanut butter. The blend was the perfect amount of sweetness and went very well with the granola and berry toppings. A little pricier than what I’m used to paying for acai bowls, at ~$ 9. The cashier here was so genuine and helpful. He was knowledgable about the menu and ingredients. Wish I got his name so I could mention it… This place is located in a small hallway type area with multiple food/dessert choices. Look for the Guisados storefront.

Great juice bar. If you are near downtown LA then come by here for a ‘pick me up’. Great selection of items and lots of ways to customize. Friendly staff helped dial in a great selection. Cute little inside mall you can hang out in as well. Excellent Mexican food within a hundred feet too

Eek! Methinks not. Bought something from here basically so we could use the restroom. First, we asked the cashier if we could use the key to the bathroom. «Ask the security guard,» she instructed. So, we found the security guard and she told us that no, she doesn’t have a key for the restroom. Next we asked a shaven headed man who we thought might be the manager if we could please, please use the customer restroom. «Give me a minute or two and I’ll open it for you.» So, we waited. And waited. There were 4 employees and two other customers. It took 10 minutes for the green juice thing we bought. The manager guy took his time, walking around the place, straightening a napkin dispenser here, fluffing a pillow there, going in back and changing shirts at one point. This went on for about 10 minutes. Then he went out front(close to where the restroom was located) to hang out and bullshit with a friend who walked up. By this point we were pretty much over the whole thing. I assume he just got caught up in his restaurant duties and forgot the two people 5 feet away staring intently at him, waiting to use the restroom. Or, he just took his sweet-assed time because he didn’t feel like messing with it. Either way, it doesn’t generate a lot of goodwill. People have to pee sometimes. Its gonna come up again. Might wanna put some protocol in place involving an extra key(or two) attached to an oversized novelty item.

(The Food) Had the following: –The Simple Climber 20 oz Acai Bowl($ 8.50): I have to say this Acai Bowl was one of THEBEST acai bowls I have had in DTLA. Personally I find it much better tasting than its competitors in the area. It is crisp and refreshing, also sweet but not too sweet and packed with flavor. I highly recommend the simple climber. It is really filling due to the walnuts and granola. –Chicken Curry Pattie(empanada)($ 3.00): Super grateful that Green Grotto Juice Bar gave me a Chicken Curry Pattie on the house(THANKYOU!) The pattie was delicious. You can taste the cumin and spices in the curry base but it was not too pungent and very enjoyable. The pattie was nice and soft, definitely should try one if the acai bowl alone won’t fill you up. :) You won’t regret it, promise. (My Experience) I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Green Grotto Juice Bar and he was extremely nice and sweet. I asked him to make my acai bowl extra pretty so that I could take nice pictures of it and he did exactly that! I thought that was super sweet of him. (Cons) It is downtown los angeles, so parking definitely sucks. I had to pay $ 8 to park right next to the building. But I think thats the cheapest parking lot on the block so if you can’t find parking, PARKTHERE! The other ones are like $ 9-$ 15.(I went around and around to find cheapest parking. lol)

Delicious, fresh, healthy smoothies, juices and bowls! Right in the heart of downtown… you can’t beat this place! In a converting — strip, green grotto is a place to come, sit on fake grass while playing connect 4 or mancala and enjoying a delicious smoothie. They have a rewards program as well for their frequent buyers. The service is great and everyone seems friendly and makes conversation. This is definitely a nice break from other green spots where the employees act to elite to mingle. So if you’re looking for a delicious smoothie downtown or a place to kick it with friends over an acai bowl, I definitely recommend trying this place out.

Juice shots and Jenga… that’s how we roll. I was doing my best to fight off a cold and thought that a nice shot of juice, ginger and other delicious ingredients would help relieve me of my sniffy nose and scratchy throat. Because there were a good amount of choices, I was indecisive and couldn’t make a decision. I asked the gal at the counter for her recommendations and she steered me towards the Happiness — a blend of lemon, agave, tumeric, ginger and cayenne pepper. Accompanied by an orange slice, I slammed my liquid down as soon as it was presented to me. I should have known that the combo of pepper and ginger was going to leave a super spicy kick, but I enjoyed every moment of it. It did the trick as I was able to take on The Broad and felt pretty amazing after the fact. While you wait, they have a variety of board games to help pass the time. We went the Jenga route and of course made a mess when it all came crashing down. Still fun. Other tables were in Connect Four competitions and playing cards. I liked the personal interactions that the games brought that weren’t on a cell phone. If you’re in the mood for an acai bowl, Green Grotto has a good selection as well. Watching them create a handful of them while we were there had me reconsidering our choice for tacos across the way. Next time. Unfortunately, my bug won the war and I still succumbed to sickness — but I believe it would have been much worse if I didn’t come here first!

For Black Friday my brother and I decided to support black businesses !! So we started off our day with something healthy I liked the place … It was cute, fun and vibrant The juice was really good, the fruit was really fresh and my attitude seemed to even brighten up after I drank it. The people who worked there were nice as well; considering it was a really slow day and I felt bad that they had to be there. I also like the motto’s on the cup, mine was be brave today & my brother’s cup said«health is wealth» which was really cool, because its his mantra. the only con would be the price point; Im not a pro at juicing so it may be the going rate but it was pretty expensive Definitely plan on going back in the near future !
