Loving getting fruit when passing by the area. Large selection of fruits and he works very fast for a good price. Would go back for sure and recommend it. Delicious

I never noticed the little carts on sidewalks around town, similar to hot dog carts, until my husband became obsessed recently. The carts are filled with fruit and usually manned by a Hispanic fellow. I know! A random cart in a random spot with some random fellow selling random food? Sounds WEIRD! Sounds unsanitary. But it’s not!(At least the one we frequent isn’t.) The one particular cart we regularly visit is on the corner of La Cienega and Cadillac(between the Chevron station and the discount T-shirt store). This is half a block north of the 10 freeway. We’ve also seen similar carts up and down Lincoln Boulevard. So what exactly does this little cart hold? Treasure, my friends. A wonderful, wonderful treasure. A cornucopia of fruits(and jicama), just waiting to be chopped up and doused in salt… lime…and chili powder! Sounds gross? It’s NOT! I learned after my first visit that there is a definite protocol when it comes to ordering. Step 1: Cut a hole in the box… oh, wait. That’s not right… Step 1: Tell the man how much you want, in terms of dollars. «I’d like $ 2 worth of fruit, please.» Or «Please give me $ 3 in fruit.» Or «Sir, may I trouble you for a spot of $ 4 worth of fruit?» Step 2: Tell him if there are any particular fruit(or vegetable) you don’t want, based on what’s available. I’ve seen watermelon, pineapple, mango, cantaloupe, honey dew, cucumber and jicama. Step 3: Watch in awe as he chops, chops, chops! Step 4: When he’s done chopping the fruit/veggies and starts to put it in the bag, tell him if you want lime, salt and chili powder. Step 5: Enjoy! And then send Nanette a note, thanking her for this wonderful review. I’m a spicy-wuss, so no chili powder for me. And it was superbly delicious sans chili powder! My hubby loves it spicy, though. It’s a huge amount of food and it absolutely hits the spot! It’s our favorite post-workout treat. Refreshing, healthy, cheap! Can’t be beat!
