Was invited by my friends to have lunch on the Fox studio lot where they work. I was excited, as I’ve never visited before and got to go on a personal tour all over the studio. This is for the commissary itself, which had good food and decent seating, but was obviously designed for efficiency and functionality, not so much comfort. They did have decent food and several selections, including a soup and paella section, sandwiches, pizza, and a grill. I opted for the sandwich and went with the sandwich of the day — chicken with bacon and avocado. It was good, made quickly, and surprisingly large portions. Decent diner like atmosphere, you get your food, you sit down. It was all right. I was more excited to walk around the studio so left as soon as we finished.

Three words. Tostada bar Tuesdays!!! You get to load up your own meat, cheese, avocado, salsa, sour cream in a deep fried tostada shell! For reals, the highlight of my Tuesdays when I get to work during this shift. Usually the other food is kinda generic(similar to Moe’s), but here they have Orange Bang and Horchata that you can refill during your meal.

Very generous portions for lunch. I had enough for lunch and dinner by ordering just a sandwich. It was stacked so high! I ate once in the dining room and once in the other portion. I don’t recommend the Thai shrimp soup. It was a little too sweet for my taste but I enjoyed the seated tuna salad I had with the same meal.

You’ll have to be invited on to the Fox Lot to gain access. If you get lucky and are granted a look behind the gates of make believe you never know who or what you might see. I stopped in for a quick snack to tie me over until lunch. They have the best sandwiches stacked sky high with your deli choice. Salad Bar has options to build a healthy or not so healthy salad but, you can get a complete meal for around $ 8. Choices are endless, hot or cold sandwiches, daily entrees and a grill with burgers and dog of all kinds. Just ask for what you want you can get it most times with a smile!

Hey it’s cheap and easy. Also, if you are blessed by a visit from the black cat, she only eats black forest ham.

The sandwiches are incredible, especially the club with fries. Not to mention the celebrity sightings, but be cool and try to pretend you don’t see them, because that’s the LA thing, always trying to spot celebrities, and then pretend not to care. On this particular day, I was there on the lot to on a Sunday to see«12 Years a Slave», which was great. Chiwetel Ejiofor(the main star) and Lupita Nyong’o(Patsy) where there and spoke afterwards. I enjoyed the movie immensely. As to the commissary next door, there was not a soul there, except for a cleaning crew waxing the floors. If you do hit it on a day when it’s open, the Club Sandwich is the best in town.

The best work cafeteria hands down. Great food and cheap prices. I try to go everyday. Ever since I left, I’ve been missing this place.

When a friend invited me to lunch here I was ecstatic. I had never been inside the Fox Studios lot and imagined that since he works with Gordon Ramsay’s 4 food shows I would be able to get a peek. Alas, 2 of the shows are filmed in warehouses off site. By the time I got there he was already involved in another project the upcoming«Teen Choice Awards.» Nevertheless we walked around the lot to and from this restaurant which was half the fun. I liked that their building’s walls were happily painted with scenes from movies. We strolled by the set of «Bones». He worked on the Simpson’s show for years so we popped into«Moe’s» café too, which I noted offered fresh squeezed juices. At the commissary, he ordered a pastrami sandwich which he said was«good.» There were 2 sandwich maker workers there so the line was short. There were hot vegetarian entrée options, though I chose from the salad bar where the ingredients were very fresh and cold. Perfect as I dislike room temperature food. What really left me with a positive impression were the bigger than my head clear and deep salad bowls. It made eating my salad such a pleasure. We dined outside on the patio, no bugs, no birds, just a leisurely lunch surrounded by well tended plants, trees and from my viewpoint happily employed workers. I say«happily» because I did not hear any grumbling at all. It was all very civilized and calm. The downside in getting here was passing security clearance(they will ask for your picture ID) and obtaining parking. He had emailed them, which was not acknowledged. My advice is to have your«contact» phone the parking booths and be prepared for valet if necessary. Also beware there is no phone reception down in the parking lots.

So, I was invited onto the lot by some clients and was ecstatic to try out the Commissary. I didn’t know what to expect and sort of figured it would be similar to Moe’s, over on the other side of the lot. Boy! Was I wrong! We headed over to the Commissary through the New York City backlot, and I tried to fill my eyes with as much as possible, not knowing when I might be back on the lot. The Fox lot is really self sufficient with a dry cleaner, atm, and 4 places to eat that I know offhand. We entered the Commissary through double doors into a lobby area with rows of Emmy’s encased in glass for us to admire. You can look up the history of the Commissary through Google, but apparently, it used to be a semi-permanent French restaurant set. It is set up in the dining room style of bygone restaurants, and you don’t see this set up too often any longer. You know the ones, with an ocean of tables, chairs with arms and wheels, white table cloths and cloth napkins on the table. I was instantly struck by the murals on the wall, that showcased different destinations across the world in art deco style, and the large statues that we sat beneath that echoed the art deco motif. We were given bread baskets with pretzel buns, crunchy crackers, and different breads, accompanied by chili infused olive oil and olive tapenade. The tapenade was very mild, and very good. The menu has appetizers, sandwiches and specialties. The commissary offers both a small and full size version of what appears to be all of its dishes. Plus, there was a table tent chock full of specials including and appetizer, salad and pasta dish. I ordered the Shrimp and Crab Louie salad that was served with a dijon vinaigrette. At first, I had wanted a thousand island dressing because that is what I am accustomed to, but when the salad came out I ended up loving the dressing. The salad itself had its core ingredients tossed together, and then placed on top of leaf lettuce that was uncut, and garnished with 4 large shrimp. The salad included avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, and finely chopped onions. The full order was a large portion, and I was unable to finish all of it, but it was delicious. The guests I was with ordered pasta, chicken and the salmon salad, all of which looked excellent as well. The service was excellent. The waiter, who knew the people I was with, was excellent, attentive, quick with refills and prebussing and friendly. I noticed when I used the washroom, that there is a false wall in the dining room that divides what looks like a cafeteria style commissary on the other side of the expansive room. I am guessing some of these reviews are for this side of the Commissary as the place where I sat was full service. All in all, for 5 drinks, and 5 full size entrees our bill was $ 119 plus tax and tip which ended up being about $ 156.00 when it was all said and done. Definitely not a cheap lunch, but a worthwhile experience that I will never forget seems worth the cost of admission. And who am I kidding? I am definitely expensing lunch! If you get the chance to eat here, don’t hesitate, just do it!

I got to come here for a job that turned out to be the easiest money I’ve made in a long time. The day started off with a luncheon here on the restaurant side. Sitting down and looking at the special menu they made up for us, I was happy to see several seafood selections. I hedged back and forth between the Sauteed Scallops and Glazed Halibut. I chose the latter. There was also a choice of appetizer between a salad and Manhattan Clam Chowder. I took the Chowder. The Chowder was really good. Chock full of veggies and clams. Waiting for my entrée and seeing all the dishes that everyone ordered, I couldn’t wait for my meal. A couple people around me got the Scallops and some Seared Ahi Tuna. The scallop dish had four huge scallops and I started to wish I ordered it. I was happy to see my dish. A nice piece of halibut over some stir fried rice. It was perfectly cooked and delectable. As I ate my meal, I just got a gut feeling that I wasn’t going to have time to do what I was there for. I fretted for over a week about how I was going to do this job and it was basically all for naught. Just did one simple thing and I was done, got a good free meal and got paid! Can’t beat that! I wish I had more days like this. The only downside was that our group of about 30 was crammed into one side of the restaurant eventhough it was virtually empty and it was really hot. I believe the air conditioner was broken. Also, I didn’t see any celebrities. I wish I was able to walk around and see more of the studio, but there’s a lot of security around and I had to leave to get to another job. In all a pretty cool day.

I love this place. You can get a good quality meal at a fair price. If you are on the Fox lot it sure beats getting in your car and looking for a place to grab a quick bite. I have always had great luck ordering a veggie wrap from the sandwich bar. Also, how can you beat the in-house Starbucks coffee!!! :) Ok sooooo maybe they make it so convenient so you never have to leave the lot and everyone works through lunch!

When I have meetings on the FOX lot, one of the highlights is having lunch at the commissary. Today was no different. I admit that I am star struck and I always enjoy looking for celebs when I am there. Today, the only celeb I saw was Michael P. The décor is a through back to the golden day’s of the movies. It is classically elegant. The service is outstanding and so is the food. I had a grilled Chicken Salad with pears, raisins, greens, blue cheese and candied walnuts, Michael P had fish and Courtney had the seafood salad. We were all extremely happy. The bread basket on the table had a variety of home made breads including raisin bread and flat breads with a humus spread. For desert we all shared the home made cookies along with ice cream and fresh fruit. I’m looking forward to my next meeting on the Lot!

I came here for a business lunch in the Shirley Temple room which is now a private dining room and was where Ms. Temple used to retire for school lessons etc. in between scenes whilst on the set of one of her films. The room is airy and bright and covered with black and white photos of Ms. Temple. It’s cute and historic. The menu was pretty well modern Californian with some classics like steak, fish, chicken and salads. A good selection of breads came to tide us over before our entrees arrived. I ordered the white fish(what is that?) that was seared and served on top of pearl pasta I think. Tasty and not too big or small. If you get a chance to eat here expect good food at business luncheon prices.

I was on the Fox lot for an early meeting today and after that was over I was very hungry, so I decided to head over to Moe’s Café for a quick bite. I was impressed with the fact that I was able to order a custom made egg white omelette. They had a large assortments of fresh ingredients and they cooked my omelette to perfection. The salsa was also great. This omelette was everything I wanted and more. Helena B.

The commissary was my choice when I worked on the Fox lot. Huge menu and they had good fresh veggie choices, a great grill/griddle with some funny characters manning it, and everything in between. I love eating out in front in the deck area. You eat there often enough, you will see some actor standing behind you in the lunch line. The dining room is nicer and more pricey, and really more suited for a business lunch, or work/team lunch.

Before I started working @ Fox I thought the commissary was a grocery store but come to find out it’s cafeteria. Prices are always LOW and I’d say the lowest out of all the dining options on the lot. It goes. the Commissary, Moe’s, News Café, then the Dining room… in that order. from cheapest to most expensive. Well anyway, @ the Commissary, they always have a good variety of items to choose from, from main entrees like tri tip steaks, lemon herb chicken„ citrus marinated pork, bbq boneless short ribs, quesadillas, etc. They also have a good salad bar and daily soups for all you health nut peeps.

If you happen to be on the Fox lot and hunger hits there’s no better place to eat than at the commissary. I normally skip the News Café and just pick up one of the many items from the cafeteria section. From fresh sushi to made to order sandwiches, they have everything a hungry studio worker could want. They used to have a root beer dispenser in the cafeteria section but removed it. Not a moment too soon, it always tempted me to get another fill up. Root beer on tap is something you certainly don’t want to call your addiction. In the mood for a Salad? They have some really loaded up salads for great prices. The dressing/condiment bar is also well stocked and kept very clean. The selection will keep your salad well dressed to your liking. During the summer months they set up barbeque’s outside of the cafeteria and grill up burgers. They get you in and out quickly and the seating area is great. There hasn’t been a time where I didn’t run into a writer or director and the occasional star while enjoy lunch. You can always count on the fox commissary to provide a fair and balanced lunch.
