I bought a loaf of the«stolichniy bread»(made by Fairy Tale Bakery) at a Russian grocery store in Hollywood. Ingredients: dark rye flour, pumpernickel flour, sourdough, yeast, salt. This is one of the best breads I’ve had here in L.A.(I’ve been here 20 years). It is sliced for sandwiches, and would make an amazing Reuben or other deli-style sandwich. The flavor is out of this world — truly an artisanial-level bread, but at a better price than you would pay at a higher-end stores. This bread not loaded with dough conditioners and preservatives like the usual supermarket varieties are. That means you must store it in the freezer to keep it from going moldy. Then, when you want a slice, just take it out and toast it, or let it defrost for 10 or 15 minutes. For the record, I am a total bread snob, and I am very stingy with praise when it comes to bread and baked goods. I worked in an old-world style Italian bakery when I was a college student, I regularly make my own bread, and I have won baking awards. If you like honest, delicious bread at a reasonable price, check out this bakery(or look for their bread at your local grocery or supermarket).

What a wonderful bakery, they have some of the best bread I have ever had. They have an incredible sour dough that they bake daily. The people are nice, you can even walk in and have them FRESHSLICE you a bread fresh out the oven(after it cools of course). One of the best experiences I have had. Place looks like a hole in the wall, but it’s a baking factory. What do you expect? Incredible product that they produce.
