This place is the only place to buy fish in the neighborhood. The only way to get fresher fish is the downtown Japanese early morning markets, and that is, as we say in Yiddish, a schlep.

Great little place! As long as you can get past the fish smell at the front door(it’s better once you get inside), there’s no reason to ever shop anywhere else. The quality of their fish is consistently excellent. I go mainly for the tuna that I use in my sushi. The guys working there dice it for me and save me that job and it’s delicious and fresh every time. They also have excellent salmon and other fish if you’re more adventurous than I am.

After locating this nearby freshwater fish market– first, I called and was rushed off the phone– then, arrived at closing and was rushed out– it seems to be a good local source, though poor customer service.

Love this place! I have been coming here for the past year every time I plan on having seafood night. My family eats a lot of seafood so when I come here I like to buy a little bit of fish, crab, shrimp and clams. I love making a delicious seafood soup! The reason that I come to this place is because they always have fresh seafood and that is something I am very picky about but with this place I don’t have to worry about. Also, the prices are really good too!

We only buy our lox here. The packaged lox at Trader Joes, Whole Foods, bagel shops, etc is just inedible now. Friday mornings are the best time to shop here, but you can call ahead and order what you need. Many people do. Their organic Scottish salmon filets are fantastic & very reasonably priced. We also enjoyed black cod our dinner party host purchased there & still talk about it years later. You have to plan your shopping a around their limited hours, but it’s worth it. My least favorite things: It smells really bad, which goes against everything I’ve learned about where to buy fresh fish. The packaging they use for their delicious homemade whitefish salad, lox spread, etc is impossible to close after you open it. Don’t spend the time trying, just spoon it into a resealable container.

Fairfax Fishery is great — good prices, super fresh seafood, a nice assortment of wild/organic/farmed fish. The best thing, however, is Shaya, the manager of the market. He always gives me advice on how to grill, what to buy, how to prepare, etc. Very nice, and very helpful. I’m a fan…

The fish store is great, as is the service. The blueberries must have come from the produce store that is just next store, as in inches away.

The best and well priced salmon in town! Love it and it’s sushi grade. It’s a great neighborhood fish market. Been going for a year now. They don’t serve blueberries, so I don’t know what the reviewer on the bottom is talking about. They sell fish and Kosher condiments. That’s it.

I have been going to this fish store for 10 years and it is the best in town. The prices are good and the quality is FANTASTIC!!! Every time I make one of their fish for company I always get compliments. You can’t cook it wrong. Also, they smoke their own fish which is incredible and make fabulous and beautiful platters that are reasonably priced.

Selection’s alright — it’s bigger than most of the little markets in this area. But the prices aren’t great. They’re not expensive, but they’re hardly cheaper than Ralphs or what have you. I bought blueberries for a buck, because they were a buck, and they were the last ones left. They were kind of sour, and I could tell they were about a day away from being moldy. Customer service is fine. Whatevs.
