We had a very unusually sized wall and needed a fold-​away wall-​bed for our in-​laws when they visit the children. Ken built us a custom wall-​bed with a country-​style finish and steel frame — that is just unbelievable.
He also built me a barbeque rack for our tiny porch that includes a computer server compartment. How cool?
Ken @ Essential is a magician. He has the best service and prices are extremely reasonable.

I was waiting to leave this review. Had no problem buying the furniture. My roommate and I each bought a dresser. Within a month, the furniture started falling apart. Glass door started coming off, drawers breaking apart, etc. my roommate a I both called the store several times and explained the problem and the person we spoke to (who we believe is the same person we bought the furniture from) said everytime that he had to call us back, or call us back to make an appointment to come and fix it for us. He never calls us back. This isn’t cheap furniture either, (in price), and I wish I would have just bought from ikea. Their stuff actually lasts longer. Will never buy from here again.

I first discovered Ken at Essential Furniture in 2005 when we bought our house. We bought all of our bedroom furniture, most of our living room furniture and two giant custom-​built desks with storage units (think Pottery Barn but half the price!). He is amazing and I’m going again this week to see about a dresser for my boys. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

I had been looking for a reasonably priced, LA-​based, custom design furniture store for quite some time — specifically a store that built well-​crafted wood furniture. I’d driven past Essential Custom Furniture many times without stopping, until recently. And I’m glad I did! They have THE most incredible selection, coupled with great customer service. I’m getting a couple pieces and can’t wait to see them in my space. So happy! Can’t wait to share this treasure with all my friends.

This is a great place! They have great items — a mix of many designs and best of all, they can customize any piece you want. Great prices (i got a floor item on sale — love it!) great service, about a week and a half for a custom order for two trundle beds in wood (also wonderful pieces that will last forever). Good craftmanship, work done locally, great prices and nice showroom.

They have really amazing wooden pieces, and make everything locally, so you can customize sizes to fit your space. Prices are very reasonable, as is local delivery. Great quality items.
Just ordered two custom pieces and they will be delivered in two weeks. So excited!
