My 7 year old daughter loves Elise Robertson’s class more than any other activity she does. By the end of an 8 week session, the kids had scripted, acted in, directed and edited a couple of short films that were presented to the parents on the last day and we couldn’t have been more impressed. Kids of varying age ranges collaborated together and were so proud of themselves. I highly recommend Elise Robertson if you are looking for a fun acting workshop for your child.

My family moved to Highland Park in the summer of 2014 and live just off of Figueroa near York Blvd. We have two small children, ages 3 and 6, and are always looking for engaging activities for them within walking distance. A good friend of ours spotted a flyer for Elise’s acting class and we immediately emailed her to get more information since our 6-year-old had caught the acting bug in a small kindergarten production and had taken a theater games class at Lincoln Park’s Plaza de la Raza. Elise was very accommodating and helped to craft a positive experience for our son. Google Elise Robertson. You’ll find her on IMDB, YouTube, and Facebook. She is a working actor with a ton of experience in front of the camera and behind the scenes. She is also an artist and a mother that is actively engaged at her daughters’ elementary school. She brings a wealth of knowledge about the art of acting as well as child development to her workshops. She is patient and flexible with her students who can be extremely diverse in terms of age and personality. Last fall(2015), our son took an 8-week theater games workshop with her. It met once a week for about an hour. At the time, she was offering two classes: the games class that works for anyone over 5, and a higher level acting class geared towards older kids who are able to memorize lines and actively work on screenwriting and production. When we reached out to her, she allowed our son to try out both classes so she could evaluate him. She was very straightforward and specific in her feedback and recommendations(my husband and I are both teachers and really appreciated this). In the end, our son ended up in the games class, but also got to participate in the final video productions that the older kids wrote, shot, and edited themselves. I was lucky enough to attend the filming and the screening of the students’ work and it was great fun to see how much they were able to do and learn in such a short time. In the games class, your children will get to know a lot about themselves, build confidence, and use their imaginations. In the acting class, students memorize monologues and work on every step of producing a short film, from writing to post-production. Parents are warmly welcomed as helpers or observers depending on the needs of particular classes. The acting space is nice and the cost is reasonable considering the caliber of instruction. I highly recommend any acting class that Elise is teaching.

Looking for an acting instructor or audition coach? Check out Elise Robertson. She is detail-oriented, helps you find moments in the script to personalize, and makes blocking for the audition room pop. I frequently work with Elise as a coach to prep for auditions: Nickelodeon, NBC Showcase and independent films, to name a few. I’ve also taken her adult acting class in Highland Park.
