Checked out a groov3 class today. Reminded me a bit of hip hop and cize workouts. Instructor walks you through steps slowly and speeds up pace as she sees class master steps. At the end we put it all together. Super fun and energetic. However, parking is metered 2 hours $ 2. After 8pm is free but at that point there’s probably no classes.

I just did an Afro Funk dance class with the coolest, most fun teacher at the best dance studio in downtown LA! This studio is urban & chic with a wide space to dance, wood floors and mirrors all across. High ceilings are also ascetically pleasing. I felt like I needed to clear my mind to finish my final projects and this class was the best fix! I’ve never taken an Afro funk class but Tanita Fadyeyola made me and all the other students who were also new, feel so comfortable. She had so much style and funk. I was immediately inspired by presence and furthermore her beautiful positive uplifting words and expressional dance moves. I highly recommend going to this studio and taking her class! I encourage people to join Tanita Fadyeyola Tuesday 7:30 classes at Downtown Dance & Movement studio !

Dope classes, beautiful studio, good bathrooms and facilities. Super friendly people. I loved my class with Sam! I’m so excited to have a legit dance studio in DTLA. Parking is kind of hit or miss at the meters.

This place already starts with 5-stars because it’s the only dance studio on class pass downtown but it keeps 5-stars because the Tuesday night Groov3 and Wednesday night hip hop with Sam Allen play the best music(I have a special place in my heart for 90s/early 2000 hip Hop and R&B) and they have incredibly fun choreography. They are super welcoming and the rooms are huge. I’ve also taken jazz and Chicago stepping. Those aren’t really my dance forte but I had a great time with those instructors as well. Wish I could go to more than 3 classes a month here on class pass!

I love this new studio. Experienced instructors that know how to teach a dance class with all levels. Clean and new studio. Parking stinks! There’s a lot for $ 5 a few blocks away and there a shuttle that will drop you off to and from the studio but you have to «make an appoint», although its free I barely have time to squeeze in a last minute dance class let alone have enough advance notice to schedule a ride. They need a new solution for that. Otherwise I spent $ 10 on parking directly across the street.

Came here on a Sat. night to take a tango class and join the milonga after. The place is relatively close to the freeway and not too difficult to find, although if you’re driving at night the street could use more lighting. There’s street parking around the studio and paid parking lots too. I parked about a block away and paid $ 7. It’s recommended(especially if you’re a woman) to try and find parking close or to avoid walking alone as the area can feel a bit sketchy late at night. The owner(and her sister) here are very friendly, enthusiastic people. Their customer service is excellent(I left a message to the owner and she called back and left me a message that was very clear and informative). During the milonga, the owner spoke in front of everyone(there must have been more than 100 people there… very impressive crowd) and she definitely has a talent for public speaking. You can tell she is passionate about what she does. The studio is brand new. The room we practiced in was very clean, bright, and spacious. The milonga room was very nice too… state of the art air ventilation, fans, lights, and mirrors.

I take their Wednesday hip hop class and it’s awesome! First class is free. Sam is an awesome instructor and got the class laughing. Everyone is nice. There aren’t any dancer egos. Depending on the time, try to find metered parking. The facility is clean and completely new. It doesn’t smell like old dancer funk and the floors are spic and span. The lady at the front desk was totally helpful. Can’t wait to be back!

Great first impression! I did the Buti Yoga class with Karen and it was so fun and challenging. It’s a lot of shaking(core shaking and some booty shaking, but not really twerking) while doing yoga poses. Unlike the meditation music of other yoga classes, I heard Jay-Z and Dre’s Next Episode and near the end stretched to Ed Sheeran Make It Rain, which is a really good song. Karen was also friendly and helpful, checking on my form and correcting me when needed. The studio has been open for only a month. It is big and looks really clean and offers other classes that I will definitely try, such as Zumba, Hip Hop, Salsa, Pilates and Barre Conditioning, etc.

Beautiful new studio in the South Park neighborhood of downtown Los Angeles. 1 block from Staples Center and the Expo Line of the Metro. Yesterday attended a one-of-a-kind workshop there, a Halloween Thriller Workshop. We learned the choreography to Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video from Kim Blank, one of the original dancers. The studio has three huge, beautiful studios with floating dance floors, and one of the studios is devoted totally to ballet.

Brand new dance and wellness studio open on Hope between 11th and 12th. Great location right at the heart of the new Wellness Corridor on Hope Street. The hipsters and USC kids need places to get healthy and stay skinny, as do the working professionals. DDM is one of the new businesses trying to fill that need, and is acting as an aggregating center for lots of different kinds of dance, fitness, and yoga classes. The space is huge and brand new, with the paint still wet. There’s restrooms, brand new wood or blacktop floors, A/C, floor to ceiling mirrors, etc. They’re running a new studio offer of 25% off classes right now, which is a bargain. It’s still new, so for $ 12 bucks, you often get a private class. They have everything from yoga, to jazz, to salsa, to IMPACT(meditation, core, and stretching), to Barre, to Groov3 offered. Check the schedule — it’s packed full and the three rooms are used simultaneously to offer us DTLA folks as much booty-shaking fitness as we can handle. My favorites are 7:30am Mix Tape Yoga with Trane on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and 5:30pm Groov3 with Felicia. Trying Zumba next, and hoping it’s just as addictive. Pro-tip: Aladdin’s coffee shop next door serves up a mean buffet lunch for after your class, for dirt cheap
