Dorothy Klein, MD, FAAP

Dr. Klein is a fantastic pediatrician. We switched from another pediatrician in Santa Monica to Dr. Klein about 6 months ago because we couldn’t get into our pediatrician’s office for a flu shot. The wait at my old pediatrician’s office was a month just to come in and have a nurse give a flu shot. I called Westside Pediatrics and they were so responsive and willing to give my kids the flu shot even though they weren’t patients of record in their office. When we went in, we were so impressed with their nurses and front desk. They are so nice and sweet. The office is small, cute and very homey feeling, which is great for the kids. Their fish tank in the waiting room is beautiful. They have a sick kids entrance and waiting room, which I think is great. Anyway, they were so easy and nice to work with that I decided to actually switch my kids to their office! Dr. Klein was really great with my kids and I love how easy it is to get in touch with her. In the last 6 months my daughter had a fever of 105 that had us really worried and my son has had croup. dr. Klein handled both of these issues so well. I have been able to email and text with her, and call her on her cell phone. When your kids are really sick, having a pediatrician you can really count on is invaluable. Their website is great, too. Being able to access health forms for school or camp is so easy. My old pediatrician would charge me $ 25 to get a copy of their health records! Anyway, I highly recommend Dr. Klein and her team!

It is such an honor to write a testimonial for Dr. Klein! Our 2 sons and daughter have been patients of Dr. Klein for over 3 years now. We adore Dr. Klein and her staff at Westside Pediatrics! She is kind, caring and fun. The care and attention that our children receive from her is outstanding. Dr. Klein never rushes through our appointment and our entire family just adores her. Our wait time is always minimal! We feel like we are treated like family when we are in the office and we refer friends to her constantly!

Finding an amazing pediatrician in LA can be a chore. I spent countless hours reading reviews, visiting offices and interviewing Pediatricians when I was preparing for the arrival of our first born. From the moment I arrived at Westside Pediatrics I knew this was the best choice for us. The office is warm and inviting and not just in the way that typical pediatrician offices are. The office took the time to not only personalize the waiting room, but all of the rooms and even the bathroom. But that’s not why they get 5 stars! During my hour long interview with Dr Klein (she actually scheduled a full hour for me and we actually talked the entire time!) I went through my very long list of questions and what ifs and every single question and concern was answered with compassion and knowledge and it seemed to me that she genuinely cared about my new mother concerns. One of my concerns was a slowed vaccination schedule, and their office not only has a slowed schedule that still protects my baby but all of their vaccinations are metal free. I had one pediatrician tell me if I wanted to slow my vaccinations then not to use him because he didn’t believe in that. What a relief to hear a Dr say it was OK for me to not give my baby 5 shots in one visit!
Ok so after deciding this was the Dr for me, let’s fwd to the service we receive. Dr Klein was amazing in checking in with me when I was due to let me know she was remembering me and my due date and to assure me she would be visiting me in the hospital. When my baby finally came, not only did Dr Klein come visit (which yes is standard) but she spent time to actually talk with me and spent a good hour going over my new questions and my lengthy story (in case you’re wondering, I talk a lot!) and she brought me an adorable gift bag. It felt like she cared and I believe she genuinely did.
She came to visit each day, which might be standard again, but none of her visits every felt rushed or inconvenient for her and I enjoyed seeing her every day!
On to the care I’ve received since. PHENOMENAL. Every single visit, I have about 45 minutes of time with my amazing pediatrician. We go over allllll my questions, all the milestones I should be watching for. She spends time engaging my baby so my baby feels comfortable too. She’s just amazing. On top of feeling great visiting her, Dr Klein also offered her email and cell phone for emergencies and off hours. Well I have used that, a lot. Yes I’ve had a lot of frivolous questions, but to me as a new parent, it means the world to be able to shoot my Dr an email and get a pretty timely response. But the best experience I’ve ever had with her was on Thanksgiving when I was out of town and at 9 at night I noticed an allergic reaction on my baby’s face. We didn’t know what to do! We were about to take her to the emergency room when I sent a picture message to my Dr who answered me within minutes and walked me through the simple benadryl dose to give her saving us hours of unnecessary ER room time and I’m sure tons of money! It was amazing and reassured me that Dr Klein was in fact the very best pediatrician I could have found.
The only downfall with the office is they are a cash office meaning they don’t accept insurances but they do submit for reimbursement for you making it much much easier than doing it yourself and their billing lady is also incredibly nice and helpful. And while I have spent more money to go to this office than many other offices I visited, I belive that it has been worth every single penny and having a Dr that will answer your emails and thanksgiving night text messages has been an invaluable bonus that any parent can understand. If you have any hesitations about meeting this Dr after reading this, then best of luck to you but you’ll think of me when you want to ask your Dr a question at 3 in the morning and don’t know what to do:) Dr Klein deserves 10 stars.
