I have been going to comedy sports for the past five years and always have a great show. From the college team to the Saturday night shows they’re always great. I love the energy of the players in the cleanliness of the theater. It’s a great place to go in off the beaten path

We had such a fun time at ComedySportz. It’s hard to find good live and family friendly entertainment on a Saturday night. It’s a live show, I get the feeling that they have different players all the time. It doesn’t matter, I’m sure they have a certain standard for entertainment! It’s a small studio, perhaps only fits about 35 people. I won’t go over the details of the show too much, since that’s part of the fun, but the referee(acting as host), regulates the flow of the show. He did a very good job involving the audience(shouting out suggestions is very encouraged). Very clear instructions were given to the team players, it made it easy for the audience to follow the different rules. Lots of fun games, very creative people on stage. Fresh and unpredictably funny. Would def. come back here again to check more out!

This shit was awful. I can’t believe I ever came here. Terrible comedy that was definitely not funny and was not crowd pleasing. Also got kicked out because we were quietly talking during the show.

Perfect entertainment for families with tween and teens. My 12 year old son,(shy) had a blast — even volunteered on stage. Funny! Clever! Highly recommend this! We plan to return with my son’s friends. I loved the interactive part when the referee asks for suggestions for the improv actors. 2 hour show with intermission — GREAT $$ value. Bring $$ for snacks. I enjoyed the cookies, hot tea & vintage sodas Foosball table in patio was fun. Comfortable patio for waiting for show. Parking is on street so allow for time to find parking and walking to theater. Not bad. Well worth effort

I’m writing this review after my second visit to ComedySportz — I absolutely love this place! The talent in this place is just amazing — like I said this is my second time here and both times were equally as funny. I’ve been looking for a consistent comedy club in LA and I think I’ve found it! Only downside is that admission is a bit pricey(at least to me it is) at $ 20 per person. Nevertheless, this will not stop me from coming here on the regular!

I’m going to have a hard time writing this because one of my friends is a recurring member here at ComedySportz, and he’s definitely one of their best. I’ve never been a huge fan of(amateur) improv, as I find spontaneous humor while EXPECTING hilarity to be not only incredibly difficult, but difficult for most people actually doing it. The result can be some pretty hardcore secondhand embarrassment, and Schadenfreude — while I enjoy sometimes — is not really my thing. It feels like, the majority of the time, it’s actually quite good — better than I expect, which isn’t much to begin with… There is limited street parking, and don’t be that guy who thinks they’re funnier than the people on stage. They might be amateurs, but you’re not that either.

I love love love Comedy Sportz! Basically, it is similar to the show«Who’s Line Is It Anyway». They have two teams and play comedy games against each other with suggestions from the audience. Everything is improvised and every show is different. The regular shows are family friendly and very funny. They also have long form shows, some of which are not family friendly but these are noted when you look on the website. The cast is very welcoming and friendly. The theater is small and clean. Every seat is a good one with a great view. Parking is on the street as there is no private lot for their theater. They do have a nice patio area outside and they offer snacks and drinks for sale before the show and during intermission. Also, if you have high school students, check and see if they offer the Comedy Sportz High School League at their school. This is a great activity for the teens. They have a lot of fun and learn a lot. They also offer classes for adults and kids at the theater.

Been to comedy Sportz numerous times and cannot get enough. I’m hooked for life. The team is so quick on their feet and open to the crowd. The concessions in the back with glass bottle sodas is the cherry on top. They’re 3 dollars a pop(pun intended) so not the cheapest soda in town, but a great accompaniment to the show nonetheless. Great place to drag friends and/or a date too. Love love love

FREE birthday admission for your birthday month~ Sign up on their email list. This is the only comedy club I have found so far that is all«clean jokes». Perfect place to bring your kids with you. I love their improv, all the performers are very talented. They offer classes too! No drinks minimum required. They do sell drinks/snacks at the back of the theater. Nice seating area during intermission. The Parking: Street parking(FREE)

Came here for the college team show(Thursday night). Super fun! I never knew that clean comedy could be so thoroughly awesome. The team was energetic and brilliant. The theater itself is pretty small. The room we were in smelled kind of stale and sweaty. The audience consists of high school kids and parents. However, the show was one-of-a-kind, fantastic entertainment. I haven’t laughed this much in a while. Hope to come back here again!

Shun the nonbelievers! I’ve been to CS a good many o’ times(probably around 30) and I can’t say that I’ve ever had a bad experience. Sure, not every show is roll on the floor amazing, but it’s never bad. They are consistently family-friendly, very funny, and I walk away feeling like it was worth the money. Take my advice and go once. I’ll let them do the talking.

This review is for CHICKSPEARE as I did not watch the usual Comedy Sport show. I bought tickets through a charity silent auction so I had to call ahead to reserve a spot for a Friday night show. The box office lady was very friendly and helpful. She explained that Chickspeare will be playing through September, suggested arriving around 7pm for the 8pm show, encouraged us to bring food/drinks & light jacket for patio seating. My boyfriend and I were running behind and arrived around 7:45 to pick up tickets at the box office. The gentleman was extremely friendly even when I was fumbling around my purse for the 4th voucher. I left it in the car and he didn’t make a fuss over it. My 2 friends were also running late and there were no more tables for a group of 4. The manager of the house came by and set up an area for us. He was courteous to the other audience members and they were all so considerate. The ladies of Chickspeare did an awesome job. Our group had many actual laugh out loud moments and enjoyed a lovely summer night.

Took my 10 year old kids to see the Sunday evening show. I was concerned what sort of material might happen, considering it is improv, but it was definitely kid-friendly. The theater is small — only street parking is available(but at least that’s free). I did not feel all that safe parking in that area at night, but there were no problems. Like many others, I discovered the show through Goldstar. Pardon me while I got on my soapbox for one minute. While Goldstar is a great way to discover new things to do, know that the event you are buying tickets to see only pockets a couple of dollars per seat. If you try the show and like it, I urge you to buy the tickets directly from the box office if you go back. The difference between Goldstar and the Box Office is so small, but it means the world to the company that puts on the show. Goldstar is an awesome service, but if people use it as their only method to see shows, the theaters will either not be able to survive, or ticket prices will skyrocket to compensate. Seating is first come first served, even if you bought from Goldstar. As I said, the theater is tiny — maybe 8 rows of 10 seats in theater fashion. There is a concession booth outside behind the theater. The show runs about 100 minutes, with a 20 minute«halftime»(intermission)

This was our first time at ComedySportz(8PM Saturday show). We took a friend for his birthday, and we all loved it. If you sign up for the birthday club, you get a free ticket in the month of your birthday! Although I prefer the more adult comedy you can find at the Groundlings, ComedySportz still has a lot to offer and doesn’t leave you disappointed. The performers are filled with a lot of energy and the host is super enthusiastic. The games I particularly enjoyed was the one riddled with puns and sound effects. For family friendly humor, like Whose Line, this place gives you a lot of laughs. Don’t let the PG rating deter you at all. My only gripes was that it was way too cold in the room, and one game they should take out because it’s really not that funny. The A/C was directly blowing on me, so that got distracting at times. The game they should take out was the gibberish charades game — it took too long and no one really laughed because there was no comedy involved, more like frantic gestures between the comedians as one had to guess what the other was describing. Those two issues aside, though, I’d love to go again and hope to soon. The staff are super friendly and even though the area doesn’t look all that great, it’s really chill and parking was free(streets). If you get there ~30 min before the show, you should be fine. We got there 5 minutes before it started(traffic) and we had time to use the bathroom and easily found seats since the theatre wasn’t full. ComedySportz is a good and hilarious way to spend a night. It should be more popular, if you ask me. I can’t wait to go again.

Everything about this community theater is dripping with love. Performers who love performing and love you. The facility is more functional than luxurious(this isn’t the Los Angeles Theater or Segerstrom Center) but I would recommend ComedySportz to literally anyone who has a sense of humor. sorry, Dad.

Just went to ComedySportz for the first time on Friday night. Going in I did not expect much. I enjoy improv comedy and have been to Groundlings about 5 times for their Completely Different Late Show, and for the most part have had enjoyable experiences. so this review will compare the two shows. I figured ComedySportz would be a step below Groundlings, and figured the squeeky clean humor would not be quite as funny. First off, be sure to buy your tickets thru Goldstar to get discounted tickets. We got to the theater right when the box office opened, figuring parking would be difficult and there would be a line waiting to get in like at Groundlings. Nope on both counts. Free street parking can be found on the side streets. When we got to the box office there were only two other people there, and after we go our tickets, we were chilling in the patio area out back, and we were the only ones there. For a moment we thought we might be the only ones in the audience and figured the show must be kinda lame. When we entered the theater, thankfully there were other people there. By showtime, about half of the 80 seats were filled, so it didn’t feel cramped like Groundlings. The seats are more comfy than the ones at the Groundlins theater as well. Unfortunately no house band like Groundlings(those guys are awesome), but they have Mr. Voice who plays some music throughout the show. Now to the comedy itself. If you like Whose Line Is It Anyway, its much the same format, and they use some of the same games. There are some cheesy elements to the show(like the singing of the Star Spangled Banner), but overall the performers were very talented and I laughed a lot more than I do at Groundlings. The formats of the shows are different so you can’t really compare them, but overall I enjoyed Comedysportz much better than Groundlings. Maybe the novelty of the experience played a part in that, but I plan to go back again very soon. Some other random tips: if you sign up for their mailing list, you get a free ticket good during your birthday month. They also give a free ticket to the person who has the best audience suggestion of the night.

Tonight was our first time. We went to the 8:00 pm show. the house was packed. Hey if you dont like to laugh and have a good time, I recommend that you dont come to this place. Nice to be able to see and hear Entertainers that entertain without being foul and vulgar. this is truley a «FAMILYSHOW’ Bring your granny or your child they will love it. Funny rib tickling side hurting good time. I suggest coming early to get good parking and a good seat. There are no bad seats just they fill up fast. Nice little patio for intermission to grab a snack or drink and to chat with your guest or make new friends. Everyone from the young man in the ticket booth to the ticket taker to the performers all very friendly and generaly happy that you were there. Can hardly wait till we come to the next show.

I would like to thank all the Unilocalers who reviewed ComedySportz because without you I wouldn’t have been able to make an educated decision on where to take a group of high school girls that was appropriate enough for them but still hollywood enough to seem cool. You guys definitely did it justice. Who knew clean, fun comedy could be just as hilarious as crude, lewd comedy? I am a changed woman. There was crowd involvement, parody singing, ridiculous improv games and a «ref’ who really brought it all together. The girls and the rest of the staff left with soar cheeks we were all laughing so much. Sure, there were some not-so-funny moments, but I think that’s what makes improv so great. You can still laugh out loud at the not-so-funny moments and not feel like a terrible person(like in standup when it is evident that someone is bombing on stage and it would be to cruel laugh at them). It brought a serious smile to my face to see all the girls’ fb update statuses that night commenting on how much fun they had! Unilocal, you treat me so good!(oh, and another point for ComedySportz… two of the staff want to take their husbands back for date night!)
