Always somethings unique and unexpectedly delicious. Our latest visit was no different. We had the most tender bbq’d octopus to start. Followed by the duck(my wife had that) and the scallops(for me). The duck was served rare — which we’d never had before. Originally apprehensive to rare poultry, my wife gave in to the succulent morsels. She dos find the confit croquette to taste a bit like liver — so that went to me. The scallops were surprisingly small in portion for my main dish — 3 ample sea scallops, basically $ 10/per scallop. They were very fresh and satisfying, with a wonderous black garlic sauce dolloped along side. For desert, what else but the donuts. I’m not a bit donut person and these were fantastically chewy served with 3 different sauces. Service was decent, though I feel that many of the servers should have been dressed less casually(including ours) I find it backwards, lazy and irritating when the bussing staff dress more professionally than the customer facing staff(servers).

Went here for 1 year anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. We were greeted by the host and wished a happy anniversary. We asked to sit outside in the beautiful patio which has a jungle feel to it(although it was cold there’s ample heating outside). As we sat down we were brought complimentary champagne on account of our anniversary. We ordered some cheeses for starters and sampled a few wines before my girlfriend landed on a wine she liked. As far as entrees I ordered the duck which was the best duck I’ve ever had and a pretty decent portion to boot. My girlfriend had the bocaccio, which is a type of rockfish. She really enjoyed it and that also was a pretty good sized portion to our surprise. Overall a great dinner. Beautiful space. Wonderful service. Also nice bathrooms haha

Five stars for the ambience, it’s seriously beautiful. Very romantic. One of the prettiest I’ve been to in LA. One star for the food. For 28 dollars I got an empty plate with three plain scallops and a splash of some cream sauce. Not kidding. As my company noted: This wouldn’t be enough even for a baby. I was like: «so where is my food?» We ended up eating tacos later that night at a nearby place because we were starving. If you scroll down a few reviews, there is another reviewer with the same experience with the scallops. The thing is, I looked through the pictures here on Unilocal and it looks like even a few month ago it wasn’t like that, they seem to have made decent portions back then(even the scallops). They must have changed a chef… NOT a way to go, guys. All in all, go there for a coffee or a drink but don’t eat there unless you like eating empty plates. And maybe don’t even get the coffee. Or else they will give you an empty cup with a magnifying glass to search for the coffee in it!

From the outside, all you see is a dingy looking building. You would never suspect that behind two huge double doors would be a lavish courtyard surrounding a majestic tree. Once inside, it’s almost as if you’ve entered Tarzan’s domain. When we entered we were promptly greeted by a very enthusiastic waitress who quickly seated us. Even though the majority of the restaurant is outdoors, they make it a point to make you as comfortable as possible with heaters and stuff. We went for DineLA and I got to enjoy some amazing quail, flat iron, scallops, and more. I particularly enjoyed the sauces that came with each dish, they were spectacular. The total was about $ 39 per person so budget accordingly. Nice places like these come at a price. This isn’t someplace I’d go often but it certainly is worth going once.

Walking into the venue was such a delight. We were greeted with bright lights, handsome waiters, and a magnificent overarching tree. It felt like we stepped into a tree house. The atmosphere adds to the overall dining experience, but let’s get to what we came for… the food. We started off with the oysters and sunchokes. The oysters became a star player during our dinner, and there was more to follow. The sunchokes were dressed with salmon roe, a pleasant treat. Moving onto our main course, we were anxious to dig into our striped sea bass and scallops. The scallops. Oh man. Where should I begin? At $ 30 for 3 pieces, I was expecting the greatest delicacies to meet my tastebuds. It was everything I could ever ask for. The sea bass had a great crispness to its skin, served alongside a sweet and fluffy sunchoke foam. A great pairing of sweet and savory. Bottom line: gotta go. Go for the food. Go the waiters. Go for the experience. Great venue and atmosphere. Ask for a table outdoors. Don’t worry, the lamp fixtures will keep you cozy if it gets chilly. –Signed the Foodie Duo

Awesome patio atmosphere. Cozy and warm with the heaters table side. The place kinda reminds me of the jungle ride at Disneyland. Haha! The food is very delicious. I had the shakshuka. I never had it and thought I try something new. I loved the cumin infused flavor throughout the tomato and onion mixture. Served with toasted bread was a perfect accompaniment for mopping up the juices. My hubby had the eggs benedict. Perfect and the hollandaise sauce had good seasonings. The drinks are great too!

High five to Cliff’s Edge for great spot and food! The ambiance is like the Caribbean! So green! I love it! I came here today for brunch with my girl friends. We opted to order the pork belly hash, the potato cake-poached eggs, smoked salmon, Swiss chard, sour cream, and blueberry pancake! Everything was A plus! For the drinks, we ordered the mimosa for 25 for four glasses! I can’t wait to go back. Tips 1) you can valet or you can park for free around the neighborhood. 2) the menu on the Cliff’s Edge is not updated, so do not depend on it! 3) make reservation on the open table and request for the table with the best view!

From the outside, this place looks like nothing more than a parking lot on a busy Silverlake street neighbored by a 99 Cent Store. Thrilling, right? BUT, lo ad behold: the castle doors swing open at 6pm, you walk in, and your heart swells with excitement as your eyes take in a sprawling patio with sparking lights dancing in the trees and a clear view of a peaceful night’s sky. Well, that’s a great first impression if I ever saw one. Easily one of the most romantic restaurants in the city. Ambience: 5⁄5. But okay, let’s be real, you’re most interested in the food. I came here on a date for DineLA, so there are only certain items on the menu for which I can speak, and speak for them I will! Butternut squash soup: 3⁄5. It was good, but nothing memorable. Wagyu flat iron: 3⁄5. It was juicy and I liked the sauce and mash it came with, but I’m spoiled by the steaks at Carlitos Gardel and few places measure up. Chocolate tart: 4⁄5. Loved the balance of the rich chocolate and the marshmallow. Donuts: 4⁄5. Fluffy little fried balls covered in sugar and cinnamon. Can’t go wrong. Service: The server honestly could have been a little more attentive as she brought my wine pairing quite some time AFTER she brought out my steak and I didn’t originally get my spoon with my soup, but she was fine otherwise so I’ll toss it up to having a busy DineLA Saturday night. 3⁄5. Fun fact: They give you these awesome Native American-esque blankets to keep warm as you fine outside, in addition to the heat lamps. Very cool touch.

If you’re looking to impress a date, this will do. Very well. This is definitely one of the most beautiful and romantic patios I’ve ever seen. There are copious heat lamps, cushions, and blankets for your comfort – my boyfriend even likened the service and ambience to that of Disneyland. The food is very delicious, but some dishes are better than others. I had the roasted quail appetizer and the flat iron wagyu, and both were perfectly cooked and presented… my pictures really did not do them justice. If you’re stuck on ordering, I would talk first to the servers(they seem to know what’s good). Random observation: the chef is a big fan of sharp/truffle-y flavors and decorating with heirloom carrots. Just be prepared to drop quite a pretty penny… the atmosphere and experience don’t come cheap. You could totally skip the mediocre dessert here and go somewhere else nearby for a sweet treat.

I visited Cliffs edge for $ 1 oyster hour, the oysters were spot on and the old fashions were generously poured. I then decided to stay for dinner and relocated to and outside table, Cliffs edge is absolutely gorgeous! Super tranquil, friendly service and amazing food. I had the scallops with winter squash, cous cous, medjool date, chermoula, marcona almonds and let me just say it was to die for. Little expensive, but well worth it!

Disclaimer: This review is based on a holiday dinner party that was held at Cliff’s Edge. We were served a pre-determined menu that was intended to be family-style. I was very excited to check out Cliff’s Edge but, unfortunately, ended up being hugely disappointed by it. As I said in my disclaimer, I did not get to choose the menu items. However, our group did get to sample a variety of items and I have to say that the food that was served to us was just not that great. Among other things, we got venison, quail and oysters as well as a few veggie plates. For starters, the portions were tiny. And, being that I know for a fact how much the total bill added up to, I can say that this place is definitely overpriced. Everyone was still pretty hungry after our meal. What I did love about Cliff’s Edge was the décor. Both, the indoor and outdoor seating areas, are beautifully decorated and very romantic. Is the décor enough to make me return? No. But perhaps my experience would’ve been different if I’d been able to choose from the regular menu. This is why I am giving them 3 stars instead of just 2.

Cool place but very crowded and tight/uncomfortable seating. I have to say that I did love their very crunchy(almost flakey) waffle but other than that food was just ok. Wasn’t a fan of their Bloody Mary either. I probably wouldn’t come back here lol

«Bit**es love Cliff’s Edge.” — FACT. Are you trying to impress a girl? Celebrate a special occasion? Or just have a romantic dinner? Cliff’s Edge is your spot. The menu always changes, but everything I /people I’ve been with have tried has always been great. FYI: this is right by the 99 Cent store. Look for the unlabeled parking lot with valet

People told me it would feel like a big treehouse, they were kind of right. I almost felt like we were in a jungle safari, minus the heat and potential danger. Wait, does that even make sense? I’ve never been on a safari but it sure reminded me of George of the Jungle. And the chairs were woven like I’d imagine my chair would be if I were on safari. Anyways, it was me and 2 best friends celebrating one of those best friend’s belated birthday. I made the reservation for noon on Sunday. We got there 5 minutes late, but did not run into any issues like being turned away. Yay. It wasn’t packed that day; maybe because the holidays are coming up? Our server was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. One small thing I noticed was that he didn’t start off by asking if we wanted anything to drink, but rather asked if we wanted bottled or regular water. And then asked if anyone else wanted coffee or a drank. I felt like that was a sign of him knowing what customers want and cutting right to the chase. Much appreciated. We ordered 1 starter and 2 entrées to share. We were pretty full off of that. The lemon blueberry pancakes are highly highly recommended. The salmon slices were thick and just smoky and salty enough. The potato pancakes underneath were also delish. The pork belly hash was probably the least impressive. But still good. I may have preferred to get eggs benedict over that. The only thing I found annoying(but I won’t dock off a star for because it’s out of their control) is the flies. We were often waving our hands over our food to get the flies off. It wasn’t a huge irritation but I would have preferred not to deal with that. It’s outdoors though, so just be cognizant of that. Our bill including tip for those 3 items and a coffee was $ 66. So you be the judge of whether you like that price range. I’ll be back to try their dinner! Valet parking for $ 5 is offered or try to find street parking.

I came with some friends for brunch the other weekend because I really wanted to check out the patio about which I’ve heard so much! Unfortunately, it was a a busy Sunday morning. Even though we arrived just 30 minutes after Cliff’s Edge opened, the patio was full — either taken or reserved. That and some of my friends were running late and we needed everyone there to be seated. We ended up grabbing a table inside because we didn’t want to wait too long. It’s not bad inside, but it really does pale in comparison to the beautiful patio. It looked straight from a tropical scene — lush and covered by trees, plants, and bamboos. To start, my friends and I shared a carafe of Captain Planet — pretty much your typical LA green juice spiked with gin. Hey, we have to get our veggies in somehow! It was tasty! Light, refreshing, slightly sweet with just a bit of gin to kickstart the morning. For my entrée, I had the pork belly hash which was mixed with brussels sprouts and toped with feta and a fried egg. It was delicious! The pork belly was tender and the dish overall was very flavorful. My friends ordered the smoked salmon, burrata toast, and brioche«bread pudding» french toast. The smoked salmon was also really good, especially with the crispy potato pancake and perfectly poached egg. The burrata toast was light and healthy, but still tasty. The bread pudding french toast was good, but not great. Our server was nice, but we didn’t really see her much. I think most of their attention is focused outside, so we didn’t see many servers coming by the tables inside. On a side note, we had a lot of flies visit our table, although I’m sure it’s worse outside. For brunch, I think Cliff’s Edge is a great choice. I’d suggest making a reservation for brunch if you want patio seating! Valet parking is available($ 5) but street parking can also be found on side streets.

I came here last night with a friend. It’s definitely hidden! I’ve lived in Silverlake for a few years now and although I’ve passed by their doors often(erm, en route to the 99 Cent store next door!), I had no idea where the entrance was located. So there’s that. We didn’t have a reservation, but we came early-ish so it wasn’t an issue. The hostess sat us next to the massive tree in the center of the restaurant, which was quite nice :) I imagine it’d be an excellent place to be in the event of an earthquake, hehe. I ordered the chicken liver mousse, and my friend ordered the… sunflower soup?(The name escapes me.) We also split house rolls and a three-cheese plate. The bread rolls are served freshly made in an iron skillet and with warmed butter. YUM. The cheeses came with raisin bread, and what looked like olives.(I was distracted by the house bread :)) I love cheese, and all the more when it’s bleu cheese, so they had my number right there! Then came our main dishes. I haven’t had paté since I left Italy several years ago, so I was curious. The mousse is accompanied by a deliciously grainy mustard, a sweet onion relish, and pickles(that I passed on to my friend). The plate is served with a rye/dill waffle. Fancy AND delicious! I can’t quite vouch for my eating of said delicacy, though, because dainty I am not. ;) The mustard and onion complimented the mousse extremely well. Admittedly, the prices are a bit high(I think the entrees start at $ 22), but the ambience was lovely — there were lots of dates happening all around us! And our server was prompt and courteous :) Thank you!

I’ve wanted to go to Silver Lake ever since having Death Cab’s «Tiny Vessels» on repeat c. 2004. You know, about the time«The O.C.» was on air. Vegetarian options are fantastic and I’m not even vegetarian. I ordered a cauliflower steak on a bed of cauliflower purée, which seems a bit much, but isn’t. My friend ordered the leek. The restaurant has a list of four punch options. I tried to order my first two choices, but they were out. It was only 9 pm. Other than that, no complaints.

Five friends and I converged on Cliff’s Edge last week to sample as many of the cocktails, small plates and entrees as we could. For some reason, the ambiance evokes the Seventies: maybe it’s the wooden outdoor tables with benches covered with brightly upholstered cushions, candles on tables, a giant firepit and a huge tree in the center of it all that recall those pictures on the school notebooks they used to sell(if you don’t know what I’m talking about, ask your parents). Inside, you will find the bar and more benches with cushions. Was there macramé somewhere? Not that I can remember but that’s the vibe. My friends tried several of the punches($ 12 each) as well as other cocktails and pronounced them good. Feeling adventurous, I tried La Chinita featuring a combination of mezcal, tequila, jasmine, and orange liqueur that I adored($ 14). My only complaint? It was really tiny for that price. Then, on to a decent selection of artisanal cheeses which we gobbled up straight away followed by the divine Parker House rolls. These rolls are a must: soft, delicious and soaked in butter. For dinner, we decided to go all out with the côte de boeuf with accoutrements. This dish alone raises the rating to four stars. We adored it and it was the perfect amount to split among all of us. We also had some delicious Brussels sprouts on the side. Stuffed but still with room for dessert, we decided to share a rich and satisfying caramel custard six ways, which was perfect. Valet parking is $ 5; street parking also available.

This has to be one of my favorite spots for ambiance in Los Angeles; super romantic for dates and grown and sexy for a night with the girls. I completely love their seating areas both outdoors and indoors, but more so when sitting outside under the giant fig tree. Seriously giving kudos for décor and design. As far as food and drinks, it’s been awhile since I have been back and the menu has changed so I am not going to try and front on anything on the current menu. But I do remember being impressed enough to want to go back(but haven’t because I am trying new restaurants over revisiting old ones =) Definitely going back soon though.

A beautiful gem in the Silver Lake area. The outside patio has the feeling of a treehouse. A perfect spot for a weekend brunch or a warm evening dinner. The outstanding part of Cliff’s Edge is Oyster Night! Thursday from 6−7p.m., oysters are $ 1 and they have 2 varieties each week. This is a steal! Also, they have a great wine list which includes a great price range, types and regions. I’ve only been here for Oyster Night, but to go along with the oysters, I have ordered some apps. The apps were ok and pricey. I have tried the marinated olives(marinated with rosemary, aleppo, sweet garlic, $ 6), fava bean hummus(fava bean purée, tahini, smoked aleppo pepper, sweet garlic aioli, garlic chip, lemon, $ 13), and the chicken liver(mousse, shallot + bacon jam, whole grain mustard, pickles, rye waffle, $ 10). I would not order the hummus due to the amount of hummus you get…3 little dollops. The chicken liver was my favorite and I would order that again… I loved all the condiments and the rye waffle is an awesome touch. Their entrees looked good but are on the pricey side. Cliff’s Edge has great ambiance and service! There is valet parking and parking on the street if you can find it. Highly recommend checking out Oyster Night!

We came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and everything was perfect. The wine selection is good, the dinner menu is original and delicious. Service was nice and discreet. The waitress was able to describe the different wines and help us to pick a good bottle. You can bring home the bottle if you don’t finish it. The atmosphere is fantastique, they have a big patio very nice decorated. We had the artichokes, the scalop and the beef rib. We picked the chocolate dessert and a bottle of Duente. Total 110 $. My only regret is that is is a little bit expensive. You almost can’t find a bottle under 30 $ and even the starters are around 13⁄15 $. But for that price, you have quality and very good service, so I imagine it is not something you can complain about. I don’t put five stars just because I think five stars are for«love at the first sight» addresses and this one was great, really great, but not outstanding. If you go there, you won’t regret it. I will definitely go back.
