If you like yoga that combines fluid, powerful movements with spiritual, heart-grounding moments you will love Clay Kyle. Clay’s classes at Center for Yoga on Larchmont offer what I consider the best mix between a great workout and self-enriching experience with his eclectic choice of music, poetry readings from Rumi, et al and methodical, purpose-led guidance through a fulfilling sequence of asanas. I have taken flow/ashtanga classes all over this city and I seek out Clay for a good reason to sweat, propel my practice forward and absorb the energy from others around me who also share the same respect for Clay’s artistry. Truly transformational.

I heart Clay’s yoga classes. A started practicing yoga with Clay almost four years ago. I’ve tried other teachers, but I haven’t found anyone that even comes close. If you want a physically challenging class, Clay’s creative flow will work every muscle in your bendy body. If you want a spiritual class, the poetry and music will take you wonderful places. If you want to meet amazing people, the classes Clay teaches attract them. I’ve met most of my friends through Clay and his classes… amazing, beautiful people.

This town has infinite yoga options, and(full disclosure) I like nearly all of them. Whether it’s 120 degrees, sitar-didgeridoo duets are playing in the background, or a bearded man in a robe is yelling«pull up your sphincter,» I’m happy. But here in LA we must be selective, otherwise we’d get nothing but yoga done, so if I had to recommend the best experience you can find in a yoga class, try Clay Kyle. His classes combine lots of elements: Creative, fun sequencing. Amazing music. Playfulness. Deep physical awareness. Poetry that sears into your soul. Woven together in a surprisingly graceful tapestry, so you don’t fully appreciate it until you’re flat on the floor, drenched in sweat and bliss. Just as you should be.

This is hard– I can’t say enough about Clay’s teaching. I take his class on average three times a week and in a nutshell he has changed my life dramatically. His teaching has made me both mentally and physically stronger and more resilient. His classes are challenging, but always fun and with a great sense of and lightheartedness and spirituality in the room. I am able to disconnect from the mania of my life and come out of it feeling renewed and reconnected to my true self. Competitive attitudes are banished. He plays great music and gives great flow. What can I say-Clay is on my short list. And I’m working towards a butt you could bounce a quarter off of.
