Beware: these are not the kind of churros that you remember fondly from your childhood at the zoo or at disneyland. These are thin tough strips of dough that are not covered with a sweet thick cinnamon sugar coating. Now, there is a total possibility that I am just a classless plebeian and I do not understand the churro culture of Spain. I’m entirely open to that possibility. But, I really feel like the churros were just… not good. I don’t know. I just must have been expecting something else. Definitely disappointed. The restaurant is VERY small(but very cute). Literally only 4 tables inside. So, unless you’re willing to sit outside, be prepared to wait.

Had the churros largos and churros con chocolate — same exact churros, different dipping sauces. Churros are good — I confidently say they will not disappoint any churro enthusiast. It’s a little skinny and shorter than your costco/theme park churro, but the crunch and texture as well as the cinnamon sugary goodness is on point. I think to give the churros more UMPH, it could have been a tiny bit chewier/dough-y-er churros largos comes with 1 dipping sauce, but we paid a little more to get two — chocolate and guava. The chocolate is a normal chocolate sauce(think sundae) nothing special. Guava is super red and looks like ketchup — it’s tasty! but obvi fake flavoring. churros con chocolate — the viscosity of the hot chocolate is perfect — not too thick. it’s really good because i like the almond/amaretto hint to it this place is cute with its small seating and friendly staff, but the churros dont have that addictive aspect that leave me craving mo mo mo

The filled churros are so good, you pick from a variety of fillings and toppings. The regular churros are very thin, nothing special really. The prices are high and the location is very small, I’d recommend take out.

best. churros. ever. I was so impressed with their churros! Only street parking is available, but it’s LA, what do you expect. There’s one spot right in front of the store but it’s usually taken so you’ll have to park on Colby Ave. It is a very small store, but their Christmas lights in the front make it pop out a bit. it’s right next to the theatre and a vape shop. The inside is TINY. The bar holds 7 – 8 people and the rest of the inside seats about 10 people. but there is outside seating that can hold another 15 – 20 people, so be careful when you come or you’ll have to wait for a table! Luckily I came during dinner time so I didn’t have to wait at all. My boyfriend and I were first seated inside but it was a bit chilly and there were heaters outside so we sat outside instead. I thought this place only sold churros, but they also sell like sandwiches and paninis and other foods. I didn’t look at that menu since I was super full from my dinner and wanted to try the churros! I got the 4 strips of churros with the two scoops of ice cream with the dulce de lech sauce which was SOGOOD. I was hesitant because I did want to try it with the condensed milk but I thought it would be too sweet. But I didn’t know that they don’t cover the churros in the cinnamon sugar AND the dulce de lech sauce. But the churros were PERFECT. it was very crispy, unlike most churros you find at concession stands. Like even on my last churro which I probably ate like 10 minutes later was still as crisp as the first one. and it wasn’t sweet at all. So the dulce de lech went perfectly with the churro. and the ice cream was a nice touch to it too! My boyfriend got the 4 strips of churro with the cream cheese and guava sauce on it, which he loved. He saw that people recommended it so he decided to go with that. I’m not a fan of guava and I don’t really like cream cheese but this was actually pretty good! Definitely would recommend to someone who wants to try something new. I wanna say the owner? was so nice and helpful and kept checking up on us because he knew it was our first time. One of the most outgoing owners I have met. Plus it is a small store so there’s no reason to not interact with the customers and see if everything’s going well. A young employee did charge me extra on accident but hopefully it gets canceled once it’s fully processed.

I noticed some reviewers felt that they are authority on churros because they ate it in Spain, but churros not only sells there but all over Central and South America and also in Mexico. There are variations to churros, but they all come down to a somewhat crispy and cinnamon sugared dough that can be served with or without chocolate or dulce de leche. The Service: I think this place not only has a crappy churro but the service is awful. The only time I went there, we ordered to go because there was no seating, but luckily for us, three people got up right after we ordered. The owner or manager — guy with a heavy accent, mustache, wearing glasses — pointed at us and told someone else who arrived about 5 minutes after we sat down that we were leaving. I tried to tell the guy we actually wanted to eat there, but he ignored me and when our food was ready, he handed our food and said«thanks very much» and on the same breath he said to the people behind us «you can seat here». Needless to say, those 3 people felt awkward and uncomfortable to take our seat when we obviously wanted to stay. Interestingly enough, several tables were taken by people who had already finished eating and were just chatting, and he didn’t act that way with them. We ate in the car since we had ordered the chocolate sauce and were not sure if it would be good if we warmed it up in the microwave. The Churro: –Chocolate sauce is definitely not sweet, but I wouldn’t say it was dark chocolate either. It was watery and plain. –The churro had the consitency I expected, but there is absolutely nothing to rave about that either. Without a tasty sauce, it just was a waste of money and time to stop at this place. The three of us did not enjoy it and we haven’t bothered to go back there. FYI: To be honest with you — kudos if you are still reading it — you might as well go to Trader Joe’s and buy the mini churro and the dulce de leche that they sell, put the churro in the oven then sprinkle it with the cinnamon sugar that comes with it, warm up the dulce de leche, and eat it. It is much, much better than this sad excuse for a churro made by Churros Calientes.

I love the churros here! If you’re in the area and want a snack, I would definitely suggest checking out this place. My favorite that I order is the guava, cream cheese with condense milk churros. That sounds a bit weird to some, but it is actually really good. Just a heads up: The first bite you have of this, you mouth and brain might be confused of the taste but after 3 bites, you will appreciate the taste and really enjoy it. Lastly, you should also try their hot chocolate drink. It is super hot, thick, and sweet. You could either simply just drink it while you’re eating the churros or also use it as a sauce. As for seating at this place, it is a tiny place so depending on what time/day you arrive there, there may be no seat to many seats available.

I have came here a few times with friends. Each time to try the churros. Yes, they serve other food here too BUT we came here to snack and we shall snack! There’s plenty of meter parking around but if its during peak hours your order might take awhile. You cant go wrong with any of the choices, whether dipping it in dark chocolate, having sauce on it, or sauce inside the churros. I came here recently after dinner and it was definitely my second dessert of the day. YAY.

For those not familiar with Spanish, Churros Calientes translates to «hot Churros». Aka the food is hot… as in the temperature kind of way, not like spicy. Dessert time. Churros Calientes is conveniently located in the middle of goddamn nowhere LA, which, let’s be honest, is really most streets in that city. It’s a small shop with limited seating, so hope that you come when there isn’t a large crowd. The four of us were seated outside and had ample time to peruse the menu. «Ample time» is the important phrase here. Our waiter seemed kind of spacey, and not the Kevin kind. I don’t know if it got busy inside, but he tended to disappear for long swaths of time(is it swaths? I don’t care). One of the first things ordered, which was before we decided on everything else, came out last after we figured he had forgotten about it. But the Churros themselves helped to alleviate that. My wife and I shared a churro grande with ice cream. The grande Churros are stuffed with a flavor of your choosing and then drizzled with a flavor of your choosing. We opted for chocolate inside, dulce de leche outside. The most surprising thing about it was the fact that even with chocolate and dulce de leche and vanilla ice cream the dish was not overly sweet. My only complaint would probably be that I wanted more churro. Blended mocha was alright. Just alright. I mean, not bad. But don’t come here for that is what I’m saying. Like most of LA, I wouldn’t ever go out of my way to come back here. But it is definitely quality. They also seem to have a deal with the theater next door that customers can use the theater bathrooms there since they have none. The theater doesn’t seem as happy with this arrangement, as I got a look as I went in.

Some of the best churros ever. If you were expecting a donut shop kind of place, come join the party. Churros Calientes does not only churros but sandwiches, coffee, etc. Service is friendly. It’s pretty small inside, maybe 5 tables and a bar. I did see some outdoor seating as well. My churro grande(filled with guava, topped with dulce de leche) was amazing. I highly recommend this combination. It’s a little expensive at ~$ 5, but it’s unique so I’ll give it a pass. Would definitely come back.

WOW who knew so many people wanted churros at 10PM on a Saturday night? I certainly didn’t! The place was packed inside and outside with a crowd waiting to be seated. We opted to put our order in togo and it came out within 5 minutes. I’m not big on super sweet stuff which is why the most popular items, with the fillings and toppings didn’t entice me. I LOVE churros con chocolate ever since I lived in Barcelona for their simplicity and the fact that the chocolate dip is more bitter than sweet. This came with 6 long and thin churros and a cup of warm gooey chocolate. First impression was, wow these churros are very… pale? Like TOO pale in color. I understand they won’t be the dark brown we’re used to from Costco or anything but ours were starkly white. First bite in, the texture wasn’t very crispy, almost leaning more towards stale. Maybe they gave us an old batch which is why it came out so quickly? The real winner was the chocolate dip though! Probably the best I’ve had in the US so far. Not too sweet making it easy to drench my average tasting churros in. Maybe next time we’ll try coming at a time when it isn’t so busy so the churros are better cooked. I

Almost missed my flight, Just to have one more churro Dulce De Leche. I’m getting sad just thinking about how amazing these churros are and how I don’t live in LA anymore so I can’t have them on a whim. I loved them so much that I decided to get one last basket of freshly made churros right before my flight with guava/cream cheese, dulce de leche, and hot chocolate dipping sauces. Dulce de leche is the real winner, but let’s be real, the hot chocolate and the guava sauces were also kickass. Please branch out and open up a branch in NYC! I will single handedly keep you in business. I stayed so long ordering more and more churros with my friends that I legitimately had to sprint through LAX to my gate since my flight was almost done boarding by the time I got to the airport. I almost missed my flight, but these churros were worth it. There’s not many foods that I would say the same about.

came here with a party of 4! the servers were attentive and have a great sense of humor! I haven’t got that type of service in a while. the place is quite small, but there is outdoor seating. on a Saturday night, we were told to be seated 10 – 15 min after putting our name on the waitlist. ended up waiting about 25? thank god it wasn’t too cold outside. we ordered the chocolate stuffed churro with condensed milk on top and vanilla ice cream. the chocolate inside the churro was oozing out and super warm. we also ordered six small churro with strawberry syrup on top! that one was good too, but the ice cream on churro’s definitely make a huge difference. trust me. dip your churro in it, place it on top, eat it together. whatever it takes, combine it with ice cream. game changer. overall there’s great atmosphere around and it’s quite nice. dimmed lighting and great service.

Churros & Hot Chocolate!!! Let’s start off with saying that they have the BEST Hot Chocolate ever! It’s literally chocolate that is melted… So rich, so smoothly, so chocolatey! We ordered the Guava Churros and Hot Chocolate. The Churros are so fresh and the homemade guava sauce drizzled on top was delicious. Dipping the churro into the hot chocolate made it even more amazing!(You need to try it!) We arrived about 20mins before closing time on a Friday night. They were of corse very busy and there was a wait but we waited no more than 10 mins. We ended getting seated at the bar and had excellent service! I will definitely be returning here sometime soon!

Good authentic Spanish churros! Also got a panini(which is very different from the Italian paninis I’m used to having). The panini came with a side of salad, and the churros were drizzled in caramel sauce. Both were delish! This is a very intimate café with only around 4 – 5 table inside, but it seems like a good date place. We went at right when it opened on a Sunday mid-morning-noon, so it was still pretty empty, though customers started coming soon after.

Dang. Who knew churros can be so good? I’ve come here several times many years ago, but was reunited with this place yesterday night when I came here for my birthday dessert. I remember trying a lot of different churros, but my favorite was always the churros with the hot chocolate. For about $ 8, you get 6 churros with a small cup of hot chocolate to dip the churros in. The churros are thinner than the churros I’m used to(costco, disneyland, etc) but they seem more dense. I think they are Spanish churros. They aren’t overwhelmingly sweet(even with the chocolate), which I like. The hot chocolate is thicker than your typical hot chocolate; it seems like melted chocolate. But the consistency is not THAT viscous or heavy that it is impossible to drink on it’s own… it’s actually pretty great by itself. The restaurant is small, but we were fortunate to sit at the«bar» area. The server was nice and even gave my friend extra hot chocolate when he saw that she was licking her cup clean. It’s also really cool that I can hashtag«#churroscalientes» on Instagram and see my pictures automatically pop up on their TV screen in the restaurant :) If you love churros, or even if you don’t but just love sweets, I’d recommend checking this place out.

I didn’t know this place opened at 6:30pm! But luckily that’s exactly when we decided to go and the 3 parties that were waiting including us took up all of the inside seating. It’s a tiny place. I haven’t had churros and chocolate like this since I was in spain, so I was really excited! Both the churros and chocolate were thinner than expected. And everything was pretty pricey. I think it was a fun adventure but can’t bank on relaxing there with some friends to chat for a while.

Unilocal challenge 2016(10⁄100) Yoooo finally tried this churro place! I feel like this place is ALWAYS packed! This is a great spot to chill and have dessert. I came here with two of my best friends after dinner in Sawtelle. It was a perfect place to end our girls night! We’ve never had Spanish churros before so we each got different things to try: Churro Grande($ 5.50) — one fat churro with chocolate filling an dulce de leche topping Churros Largos($ 5.50) — 6 small churros with guava and cream cheese topping Churros con Chocolate($ 7.85) — 6 small Churros with Spanish homemade hot chocolate Dude the churros were all SOOGOOD! What’s different about these Churros than the Disneyland ones is that they’re smaller, skinnier, and coated with sugar instead of cinnamon sugar. They kinda taste healthier too aha. I will come back again sometime soon!

This review is base on their Churros. After a night of eating and drinking down the street at Furaibo a buddy of mine suggest we go to Churros Caliente for some dessert. My wife and i was down for some good Churros since this place had a 4.5 stars rating. Churros Caliente is a nice small cozy café that has 4 small tables inside with bar that seats 5 and about 4 small tables outside. PARKING: Street Only. Wasn’t to bad to fine parking on a Friday night. SERVICE: Super friendly and nice. DESSERT: Churro Grande w /Chocolate filling: I thought it was just ok. It didn’t blow my mine. I was kinda disappointed because the churros wasn’t even warm. It didn’t seen it was made fresh to order. It was actually hard on the outside and barely moist in the inside. Churros Con Chocolate: Same thing with the churros here as well. But the hot chocolate/dipping sauce that it came with was very rich and creamy. Yummy. Churros Ice Cream w /Dulce De Leche topping: Same thing with the churros. It was ok. DRINKS: Cortado Leche y Leche, Café Cubano and Café Con Leche. These were all fantastic. They know how to make their café’s. Overall their churros are just average. The churros champ is still at B. S Taqueria.

This is authentic Spanish churros. I didn’t know that this existed in LA. I had the Churros con Chocolate during my trip to Spain and always thought the churros here are just like the kind you find at theme parks. The wait is crazy on the night I went. It was a weekday but we ended up waiting about 30 minutes. The restaurant is quite small so I felt really bad for the large parties waiting. I didn’t see anyone actually order food and only desserts but it looks like they have some Spanish dishes like bocadillos on the menu. I only tried the churros though. We tried their stuffed churros and also the thin churros. Both were delicious but I prefer the stuffed churros. Make sure you add ice cream. We had the guava cream cheese stuffed churros and the regular thin churros with nutella and caramel sauce. The ice cream went very well with both.

Guava and cream cheese churros are perfect, but honestly they are all delicious… and who doesn’t love Nutella. yum. Also, the ice cream is rich and creamy. So good! Coffee drinks are a must. Service is top notch. Always super friendly. Evening hours are perfect for a late night sweet tooth. But it gets crazy packed when shows let out at the adjacent movie theater. Fyi — the Laemmle allows outside food and beverage. Coffee & churros to go please :)

Delicious take on Churros. Service is nice, atmosphere intimate, rustic, cozy. Ordered the Churros Grandes with Condensed Milk, and my friend ordered Churros Grandes Dulce de Leche. the churros grandes are the size of a typical churro you’d buy at costco, but shorter, and has filling and a drizzle. their regular churros are smaller and thinner, like fat red vines. those have no filling, but come with drizzle or a dip. texture is crunchier than the typical churro, but i guess that’s how latin america does it. heard the latte was good… my blended coffee was good in flavor, but ice was still chunky. churros are made to order. took about 10 minutes for our 2 orders to come out, so you know they’re fresh from the fryer. this place also serves fancy gourmet sandwiches and entrees, and is all organic/free range. looks like there are a lot of regulars that come here, too. it’s always nice to see customers chatting it up with the owner, and even nicer to see that the owner already knows their order. :))) this is a great alternative to going to a café to chat with friends. it’s small, intimate, but has high ceilings and a nice bar/counter area, tables, and outdoor seating with umbrellas.
