Great food at low prices. Recommend the chow mein. Even though there are lots of options in the area, I stop when I’m in the mood for Chinese food.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants! I love all their noodles but the chow fun in particular. My husband loves the orange chicken! Great prices, food, and service!

Super authentic Chinese food! Recently under new ownership. My family and I tried the wonton soup, egg rolls, filet mignon, chop suey, fried rice, and fried noodles. Everything was delicious! We espcially enjoyed the wonton soup and egg rolls. Management is super friendly and cater to your needs.

Has this place closed down? I’ve gone the past two weeks and it’s closed. Anyone know why? I loved eating here.

This is an old restaurant that is still making food in the old Chinese-American style, with dishes like egg foo young, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, etc. It’s not like the newer style in nearby Monterey Park(and even that isn’t new anymore, since it’s been around here 30 years). This is 1940s to 1970s Chinese-American food. They used to exist everywhere… and now they seem to be vanishing. Partly, it’s due to people like me, who are from the SGV and started eating at the newer establishments that served the immigrant Chinese communities from Hong Kong and Taiwan. The food was much better, generally, and it was a very different style, more authentic. Little did I think that this would lead to the demise of 20th Century Chinese-American food. I think people need to make an effort to eat at the remaining ones, because we’re upon a third wave of Chinese-American food, which is the steam table fast food style and the ayce buffet. These aren’t the same. The newer style is more pan-Asian, and includes sushi and western buffet items. It’s still in flux. It has a lot of the same names and dishes, but the recipes are not as good. Even more tragic — the recipes aren’t likely to be copied, because the people who run these fast food places are immigrants from China and Southeast Asia, where they don’t eat this type of Americanized Chinese food. Nobody from China knows what American sweet and sour pork is supposed to taste like. The end of 20th Century Chinese-American food is almost certain. I remember when Japanese restaurants specialized in sukiyaki, and it was hard to get sashimi. Times and people changed, and now it’s pretty hard to get sukiyaki… but you can get sushi at the supermarket. The same will happen to Chinese-American foods in the LA area, but it can be forestalled. Try eating some egg foo young. It’s not authentic, but it can be really good.

The restaurant is under new ownership(as of the last couple of years) but the food is still good. The décor has been updated somewhat, so it doesn’t have as much of the old school feel as I had described in my original post. This place is still a solid choice for low cost, tasty Chinese food… and remember, it is still CASH only.
This place is so delicious! I came upon this place when I was in LA with some friends. When we sat down, we were automatically taken care of with some kind of friend noodle with a friendly greet from the workers there. With its inexpensive food and GREAT customer service, I can honestly say this is one of the better restaurants in Los Angeles. The combos are always great deal and if you are low on money and still want good, quality food, then this is definitely the place for you. Everything here is tiptop excellent! I highly recommend it! :D

I recently trampled upon this Café. Wow, the food was amazing. And the price!!! I can’t believe I can feed my family of 4 for under $ 20.00 of great Chinese food. They not only have excellent price for combos they have food that you can order as well. I have been recommending this place to all my friends and family. Definitely will come here often.

I used to love coming here as a kid with my family. However, in recent years the food has not been as great as it once was. A gentleman that the locals would affectionately call«Mr. Louie» used to run the kitchen while his wife and daughter would help the customers. The food was very good and inexpensive. Ever since the new owners came in, however, the food hasn’t been up to par with how it was. It still is pretty good and the service is top notch as well, but unfortunately the experience and food are no longer the same. 3 ½ stars( Unilocal needs to allow half-stars as well).

This place is just so so. I went there once w/friends. I think there are many more restaurants that are better than this one.
