My dear Mama brought me here many years ago and we engaged in the best chili cheese dogs french fries ever. She told me she had been coming here since she was young to. Hot dogs are fresh, they got a nice snap to them, good flavor and the chili is bomb !! the french fries are delicious too. The three gentlemen that are working here, have been here for so long and they’re all very nice. Good food, good prices, will be back again. Thank you guys for bringing us the amazing Chili dogs, the best so far, keep up the good work.

So disappointed, this used to be my favorite place but today it was horrible, we ordered burgers for the family and this is what we got, plain burgers no mustard, lettuce tomato pickles, NOTHING!!! And no we didnt ask for plain burgers. Never again!

My old high school substitute teacher would rave about this place but i think it’s just ok. What am i missing out on here? Maybe it’s what I’m ordering. Perhaps there’s a secret menu that i don’t know about?

Chronis… classic spot and great chili dogs, burgers and fries! You wont find a better place around. Cheap as well. Old school style place and looks like it hasnt changed in years. I like how the hot dog snaps when you eat it. and how the mustard works with the chili. The burger is one of my favorites. fresh and tasty and not large sized. The chili is perfect. not greasy.

Hands down the best chili cheese dog in Los Angeles. If you want a taste of perfection when it comes to chili dogs then look no further. I remember as a young boy asking my grandpa where the best chili dogs where and without hesitation he picked me and put me in his car. We drove what seemed forever at the time to Chronis and he said here is the answer to your question. Since i was 11 I’ve been coming here to get my fix. Pinks lol that’s for noobs and tourists, Chronis is the spot. I just drove two hours in traffic from san diego straight here got 5 chili cheese dogs and now im home being a gluten lol. I highly recommend coming here at least twice a week

Here goes, the good, bad &UGLY! Good: saw the sign saying«famous sandwich shop» and felt the obligated duty as a Unilocal Elite to stop and check out this place! Line at 12:30 wasn’t too bad, waited less than 5 minutes to order my food.(This could be a bad sign). Ordered a pastrami sammich with a side of fries. Bad: Waited less than 5 minutes to receive my order. Paid $ 10.50 for an order that was put together with pre-made ingredients and slopped together… sorry jumping ahead of myself. So, initially tasted the fries! As expected, you can’t really mess up fries unless your extremely bad. Ugly: the pastrami… seriously…possibly the worst place I’ve been to. Extremely dry and lacking any flavor. Was hoping for some mustard but it had maybe a splotch or two. I think the moistest part was the pickles. Overall: maybe this is how they do things, keep the pastrami in the cooker and serve it up on the fly and expect people to love them. Nope, not me. I’m a Unilocaler. I LOVE food to much. This sad representation for a pastrami sammich should serve as an example of how NOTTO serve it. Fellow Friends & Unilocalers, save yourself some money, time and precious taste buds from this flavor lacking establishment.

Old school since 1953. I usually eat the chili cheese burgers at greasy spoons but since this place is famous for the dogs I had to order that instead. I ordered a chili cheese hot dog combo with chili cheese fries and a drink. The hot dog was good and fries even better, all in all I was happy with my meal. I also ordered four chili cheese hot dogs with extra everything for my coworkers, my complete tab came out to $ 32, ouch.

I haven’t been here since I was a kid it’s still a great place to eat. Pastrami was great. Not too greasy at all. The burger was small but good. The chili dog was good. The mustard and onion gave it more flavor. Overall a great experience for my girlfriend for it being her first time. As for myself I knew what to expect.

You’re not going to find a better chili cheese dog in town than Chronis. This place is legendary in East Los and has no competition. The hot dogs snap when you bite into them and the chili is delicious. I order mine plain with chili and cheese only because it’s that good. I wish they would open more locations because I have to drive from Pico Rivera just to eat here but it’s worth it. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I’ll keep coming here until I’m old and decrepit. LOL. My mouth is watering just thinking about their food. Haha. So my final thought for my Unilocalers, let’s grub. I’m on my way there now and my stomach is growling in excitement as I type this. Ok. Gotta go now. Off to the best kept secret in my hood. Holla!

Ok so I gotta start this review by saying My mom has been bringing me here since I was a baby. That is not the reason nor do I feel compelled to give them five stars cause I was raised on this stuff! My reason is simple great food great service they deserve it! Ok so a chili cheese dogs gonna run you about $ 4.00 bucks, but when you do the math you gotta ask yourself where else can I get a dog this good? Maybe Pinks it’s debatable, but your gonna have to drive to holly weird and wait in a 20 minute line when you get there! So do yourself a favor save the gas and time take the 4 bucks in the chin and enjoy the best dogs LA has to offer people!

Small hole in the wall, but great food. I’ve been coming here for 30 years. I reside in La Verne, but will still make the trip out there to eat the pastrami, which is the best. Chili cheeseburgers are awesome, chili cheese fries are terrific, the hotdogs are unique, they are steamed and snap when you bite into them. The prices have gone up within time, but still worth paying for the taste.

I was Officially introduced to Chronis Famous Sandwich Shop 31yrs ago, although I remember cruising by here many times before. I am glad to see they’re still going strong. It’s a landmark in East Los Angeles. They are known for their famous Chili Burgers & Chili Dogs. The hot dog snaps when you bite into it. Today I decided on a pastrami sandwich for a quick lunch and it was right on point as always. Good spot, it has been for as long as I can remember!

Yeah, I’m sorta a creature of habit. Maybe just a creature. But in my old age and reclusiveness I do tend to find myself wanting the same things. I like my beer. I enjoy my books. I like my whiskey. I dream of only one woman. It is what it is. I am a simpleton. Hahahaha No. No. I am not. I confuse myself. But you know what I like? *besides her I like hot dog Friday. Maybe it… hells, I don’t know where it comes from. I just like The Hot Dog Friday Night. And you know what? I go to Chronis for it, every time. The dogs snap like a good pair of panties on her thighs. *snap I like it. I like it a lot.

I like the way they box your to go order(see attached picture). Much neater than the way they bag your order at the Hat. I liked my chili bowl, way better than canned chile. Lots of beef. The place hasn’t changed in fifty years, same window service, same outside patio seating, same sign, same green paint. The chili fries are half the size, and half the price of the chili fries at The Hat, which is just fine. I don’t know any single person who can eat an entire massive order of Chili Fries from the Hat. The pastrami is very similar to that at the Hat, maybe a bit smaller, but just as good.

LAWDHAVEMERCY! I found my favorite place for a «snappy» hot dog!!! They added pastrami for $ 3.50 and it made my dog perfect! The pastrami is lean(meaning very little fat on the meat) and meaty, very yummy! It gets pricey(almost $ 8.00 they charge 50 cents for Credit) for a hot dog with pastrami but it’s worth it! I know people rave about the Chili Tamales but I didn’t like it sorry :/

Just finished shopping at the Outlets and wanted to try something in the area and came across this place. I would compare this place to a Tommys burgers. Their chili is soooooo good. We ordered the food to go and next time I would get it on the side so it doesn’t make the burger bread soggy. The service was friendly and quick. Next time I’m in the area, definitely coming here again.

This is the second time my wife and I come to Chroni’s Famous sandwich shop. Chroni’s have been in East L. A over 50 years, I remember my dad use bring myself and two brothers including my mom after shopping in K-Mart coming to Chroni’s getting their chili dogs and pastrami they so good I remember, this were back then in the 70’s when I was young. We brought her dad along with us, he was telling us it look the same with little change since it open over 50 years. My wife and I decided to get the number 5 combo it’s their classic burger a hot dog and fries made to order, we order two bowls of chili. It’s great to see how cook my burger on the grill that been since they open. Hot dog steam hot on bun adding just mustard and onions that’s a class hot dog with no ketchup that’s another addition you need to add. Chili I can smell the aroma of the spices in the chili including the cumin. Couple minutes later our was real, the smell was really good. The burger looks so good I took a wow great flavors like the mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomatoe, including the beef patty that’s a good burger. My wife enjoy the hot dog, she like crunch of the casing their in the wiener that’s a quality hot dog. We enjoy the chili specially my father-in-law he love chili and he knows chili he from Texas, he told us there’s no bean, it’s true I told it’s a Greek chili they use at Chroni’s he really likes it. Overall we like this place it bring us good memories from the past and know Chroni’s is still around alive and kicking.
