Went there today and had the fried pork rice and it was really good. Turns out they’ve had new management for the last 2 months under the original owners son.

They switched owners. Food is not the same anymore. It’s a mix of China kitchen recipe with Panda Express mixed in. Fried rice is nothing close to Canton fried rice. I will miss the old owners and Cantonese food. I was a customer for about 35 years. I remember when they took over China Kitchen. Food continued to be the same. Recipe was passed on. Bye China Kitchen. Everything changed including their cookies, fried shrimp and egg rolls that look and taste like cheap Panda Express food.

Been coming to this restaurant since I was 2 years in age brings back so many memories and the food takes me back to my childhood, the food is always hot fresh and flavorful. Giving it five stars isn’t enough, they deserve 100

My review is probably biased because I’ve gone to China Kitchen since I was in high school. Quality-wise it’s 3 to 4 star, but if you combine quality, quantity, and price, it’s 4.5 to 5 star place. This is the place to go if you’re hungry but want to save money: D A Chinese old couple managed this place. I believe it’s cash only. Go here when you’re hungry lol, the food amount will fill you up, and it’s good for your wallet. I just give 5 star because the owner are nice. I remember their shrimp fried rice was ~$ 5.50 back in 2008(I remember this because I always ordered shrimp fried rice: D). Now it’s 2015, and its $ 6.38. So they don’t increase the price by a lot, which is nice.

It’s been over twenty years since last I’ve been here so I’m surprised to see this place is still up and running. If I had let nostalgia get the best of me I might have given this place five stars just because this was the place my family and I would go to when I was very young still. About 3 or 4 years old. However, after moving away from this area and getting to try other Chinese food restaurants, this place just doesn’t stack up anymore. The food is decent and the service is subpar, though I kind of remember it always being like that. I can’t say for sure whether nostalgia will be a big enough reason for me to return again but it was a nice revisit nonetheless.

I love China Kitchen. It’s been around for over 25 years and the food has the same great taste and they are the same owners. Still very affordable. We had the dinner for 2 and we paid $ 16. It came with pork fried rice, pork chow mien, sweet and sour pork, egg soup, egg roll, and a fried shrimp. The place only has 8 booths but there is a constant rotation of tables. It’s only one person taking care of all 8 tables, the food is made on the spot by one cook, so it’s going to be a good 15 minutes wait to get your food. You will get it nice and hot. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because there is no parking, no air conditioning, and they don’t take credit cards. I will definitely come back as long as it’s around.

I love this place! Can’t go wrong with their lunch special! Been here a few times, and I always get their Orange chicken!

This is an old-school, shabby Chinese spot in the middle of nowhere. The interior features wood-paneled walls and brown vinyl booths held together with duct-tape. It’s also cash-only. I got the vegetable lo mein($ 6.59 with tax). I wanted tofu added to it, and here’s how that went: Me: «Can you add tofu to the dish?» Lady at the counter: «What type of tofu?» Me: «Fried.» Lady: «No fried tofu.» Me: «Okay, how about regular tofu then?» Lady: «No.» Me: «Um, no tofu at all? Because you have tofu in other dishes on the menu…» Lady: «No tofu.» Well, that was that. The lo mein was really simple and not particularly interesting: noodles tossed in soy sauce with some cabbage and sprouts. That said, China Kitchen is better than Golden Lotus, the only other Chinese restaurant near my office. But that’s not enough for me to warrant a return.

Just moved to the neighborhood a couple weeks ago and was stoked to see this hole-in-the-wall potential gem so close by. Walked over tonight to finally try it out. Brutal. Walked in to find the cook sleeping sitting up, next to the older lady cashier. Holding my hopes high, I looked at the menu and chose the Wor Wonton Soup and the Combination Fried Rice. Took it home and broke it open. About the only good thing I can say about this food is that it was hot. Everything looked and tasted either old or freezer burned. The chicken was very slimy, the shrimp was devastatingly freezer burned and even slimier than the shrimp. The beef was like rubber. There weren’t any diced vegetables in the fried rice to speak of, just a box of fried rice with the nasty trio of proteins. The wontons in the soup were poorly constructed with over cooked noodles, all of which had fallen apart, leaving pathetic pieces of pork swimming with limp noodles and mediocre broth. Needless to say, I won’t be returning

It’s okay. The Orange Chicken was really sweet and not that great, the egg rolls were AMAZING and the fried wonton was good as well. Not a huge fan of the quality of food but its cheap. They only take cash. I probably won’t go here again because LA has so many 4 – 5 star Chinese restaurants but if you want something not bad, quick and cheap then here you go.

I went there and picked up a Shrimp Egg Foo Young. Egg Foo Young is a dish I like to test out when I try a Chinese place, not so much that there is a standard I measure it up to but more instead because every place seems to do it up different and I’m curious how it’s done — but mainly, well, heck it’s comfort food. The other dish I like as a test is Kung Pao and that’s my usual test but I didn’t get it this first time as I was in the mood for the foo. The Egg Foo Young came with 3 patties, the patties are rather average if not sub-average, same goes for the gravy. The shrimp is on the side, not mixed into the patty(which happens often enough). Normally I would give 2 stars but the shrimps were large and tasty and the price hard to beat at under $ 6. I’ll probably be back some time to try the Kung Pao. They have some great priced family dinners, especially if you’re only 2 people, then you get 3 entrees(if you count chow mein or fried rice as an entrée) so that’s also worth a try all priced under $ 10/person. Still the cheapest(pork-intensive) dinner at Paul’s Kitchen in downtown L.A. beats the offerings here. Most of their inside booths fit 4(or 6 with a tight squeeze) although there is one larger table that can fit more than 4 people. I didn’t see any steam tables up front with any food ready to go in them but maybe that happens at lunch time when perhaps they do more walk-in business. At dinner therefore, they cook to order. I phoned my order in in advance and that’s probably what’s best. I didn’t see any indication that they do delivery. I asked for hot sauce but took one sniff when I brought it home and threw it out, it smelled like it had gone bad long ago. As I say overall I’d normally rate this place 2 stars except I think it’s worth exploring the menu(especially any dishes with shrimp in them) and I might find something decent and the price is right. However nobody has a high tolerance to wade through a mountain of mediocre food to find the gems so I’m not feeling the urge to return right away. Let’s call it a 2.5 star review. The Unilocal«explore the menu» link may not be accurate, it lists a lot of things not in the menu they have inside and the prices on the link aren’t correct either. It’s the same menu you’ll find elsewhere if searching for their menu so I guess it’s all over the ‘net and not Unilocal’s fault but it ain’t exactly correct I don’t think but it can be still a starting point to what they offer.

Every time I go I always get their dinner special.& it’s so cheap. it’s 4.75 or 5 bucks and u get a huge plate with fried rice, your choice of meat or chow mein… I usually get their kun pau. also it comes with fried shrimp and an egg roll. It so delicious. The chow mien they make is amazing! everything is fresh, delicious and all at a good price!!! hope to go there soon! ohhh they only take cash!

Got the dinner special with orange chicken. Spent $ 6, it was a good large portion of food. However, I ordered this specifically bc It stated I would get soup, shrimp, eggroll, tea, rice, entrée. I didn’t receive the soup, which I was looking forward to the most. She refused to give me soup or tea, and argued with me about giving me the fortune cookie? The orange chicken sucked, it was sketchy looking brown rubbery meat, in a sauce that resembled orange flavor. Not at all fried with a batter like I’d expected, the rice an eggroll were the only things I ate. The«fried shrimp» was the strangest thing I ever eaten, in the worst way. I like a triple deep fried hockey puck with a shrimp somewhere on the inside, not sure I didn’t get that far into it. Strange experience, I won’t be back unless I’m starving and broke.

I got the«single special dinner meal» almond chicken. It wasn’t bad but the fried rice was just a little too soggy and I didn’t get soup or tea. The egg roll was ok, the shrimp wasnt. So I paid an extra 1.25 over the lunch special(3.75) for a piece of shrimp…

This little hole in the wall is a great cheap place ! The menu has all the standard fare you would expect for Chinese… The Chicken Curry is great ! Very cool ! BBQ Fried Rice, Egg rolls, Hot & Sour Soup & the Chicken Chow Mein is fantastic ! They have single complete dinners with Soup, Egg Roll, Fried Rice and Fried Shrimp, plus an entrée of your choosing for only $ 4.95 ! It’s not much on décor but the food is great !

This place has saved me from hunger many times. Their servings are huge for the price. It’s like 5 $ for every order and if you eat-in it’s served family style. The parking is lil rough so order to go. In the movie speed where the bus crashes into the baby carriage… it’s on your right. I bet the people on the bus were like damn, we passed it.

Great Chinese food at a great price. You can’t beat their $ 3.75 lunch specials and their food, is quite tasty. Great for take-out!
