I am from Austin and needed a trim. Walked in and sat right down, he was polite, accommodating, and the price was right. My hair is short but his attention to detail was excellent.

Little known secret: $ 20 for students.
This place is great. The owner (Carlos??) really knows what he’s doing. I was a bit indecisive about a fauxhawk and a combover so he cut my hair in a way that would allow me to do a bit of both if I styled it correctly.

Carlo does an amazing job and I have been going to him for 8+ years. I wouldn’t let anyone touch my hair besides Carlos… thanks for all the great haircuts

I should start by saying I’m female with a side cut. I have my regular go-​to salon, but it’s not close to home, and my friends with clippers were not around. It was closing in on week three since my last shape up. Needless to say, I was not looking cute. I had passed by Carlos’ shop all the time but hadn’t given it second thought until I needed a barber pronto.
Carlos is not the most talkative, but he is efficient. I’d like to see him have more business!

Stopped by after work (I work nights) and was the first customer. They actually took me before official opening ( Unilocal says 0830, it’s really 0900). Got great service and a great clean up!

I’m a simple guy who has simple hair. Well not exactly. I’m Asian with hair clippings that can give you splinters. But nothing except a good clean haircut from the man Carlos. He was great, and asked how I like this and that as he was cutting.
No complaints from me = 5 stars

Just had a great haircut with Carlos. My hair is not easy to cut. I am demanding. What can I say. Carlos listened intently to what I wanted and delivered where most have not been able to do so. Highly recommended.

Great barber. No frills just a nice haircut and playboys to read (lol). I got thick asian hair and he does a good job with it, so asian dudes; if youre looking for a barber, this guy is great!

Went to Carlos for my first time today and he’s a stand up guy. He’s been in the same spot for 17 yrs, yet he looks like he is 30. He did exactly what I asked of him on my hair style and took the right amount of time and care. I’ll be comings back!

I only get buzzcuts, and do it myself at home 90% of the time — but once in a while I wander in to Carlos to get it done superclean.
Carlos and his store are nice, well-​presented, no bullshit, oldschool and cool. He does a really great job on a zero cut, which, judging by other ‘barbers’ in this city, is harder than it sounds.
The only thing that he loses a star for is his erratic store hours — kinda hit and miss whether it’s open or not (like just now, midday on a Monday, closed) — and no info in this regard on the store windows (blank) or the phone number (rings out).
But still, he’s my number 1 choice.

Pretty sure this is my new go-​to for a haircut in Westwood. Super basic place, but that’s just my style for a barber shop. Definitely a place for soccer enthusiasts. Carlos had on a match from the 80’s… it was also my 2^nd barber shop Playboy spotting. This time in Spanish.

I wanted to like my cuts here. I’ve had two. Carlos is a great guy. Super nice. That’s what the three stars are for.
But I’ve been suffering from my last cut for weeks now. I made it clear (and asked for verbal confirmation) that I was growing my hair out and had been for a couple months and just wanted it shaped a little. Three times I said this.
Carlos turned my seat to the side so I could «look out the window» (not at my request) then proceeded to chop everything off. Many weeks of wearing baseball hats and battling my growing hair was all for naught, just like that. My head looked like an egg with its dome on top. I had to ask him chop off the rest from the top so it would look presentable. I glanced sadly down at my pile of hair on the floor.
Unlike what another reviewer said, my cut did not pass the «wife test.» In fact, her expression was less than encouraging when I walked in the door.
I guess I’ll keep taking the long trip over to The Proper Barbershop. It’s not close, but so far they’ve done a good job cutting my hair.
Oh, and I decided if I were to ever open a barber shop I’d call it the «Not Too Short Barber Shop.» And I’d mean it.

Quick and good looking hair cut, comes at the expense of being poked by the comb a few too many times. Overall, not a bad experience, but at that price ($ 25) I would expect my hair washed after the cut. 3.5 star would be more fair, I suppose, but that Unilocal does not give such an option.

Carlos is the man! Always gives a good haircut, friendly, been around forever, nice, fast but not ear chopping fast. Check him out

Yep, I agree. I’ve been going to him for a while. No frills, no fuss, just your basic hair cut. He’s from Ecuador and likes soccer. He just repainted the place and installed a big screen. Upgrade.
You can park in the Borders garage across the street and then stamp the validation yourself as you walk in or out.

Simple no fuss good old fashioned barber shop, no waiting, clean and I got a really great haircut for $ 25. Carlos listens to how you actually want your hair cut!
