If you’re looking for decent sushi, this isn’t a terrible spot to go to. There are 2 options for sushi on Larchmont and you can say that California Roll is the cheaper of the two. I like the service here better. The waitresses were really friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. We came for lunch and I decided to capitalize on a Kyoto Bento box($ 12 – 13). It comes with your choice of sashimi(salmon, tuna or albacore), chef’s choice sushi(1 pc each of salmon, tuna, albacore), shrimp & vegetable tempura, 2 pieces of spicy tuna roll, a salad and miso soup. Not bad pricing for all of that stuff right? I was hoping there’d be more of the spicy tuna roll. I was initially in shock to see only 2 pieces but I can’t really complain when the price is pretty good to begin with. The sushi/sashimi tasted alright; it’s pretty decent. The sashimi was cut pretty thick but it wasn’t the freshest salmon I’ve had. If you’re looking for a good lunch special and you’re craving sushi, this spot isn’t bad. Don’t set your expectations too high though.

Their lunch specials are a great deal! For $ 10 I got miso, a big piece of salmon teriyaki, and a spicy tuna roll. Excellent service, the women who waited on us were very friendly and professional. Great inexpensive sushi place; I will definitely come back!

We really enjoyed everything! The Salmon, Yellowtail and Tuna sashimi was so fresh and melt in your mouth! Must try Shashito peppers! We grabbed a table outside on the Larchmont walk and had an awesome time! Delicious fare, excellent company and a fantastic vibe! We’ll be back when we’re in LA again!

I’m stuck between a 3 and 4 star rating, but I’ll just leave a 3 for now until I try this place again. I had ordered the Osaka lunch bento box to go(tuna, salmon, or albacore sashimi with salad, tofu steak, and some rolls). The price is relatively fair and the fish was fresh. The tofu steak was surprisingly good as well. I may be being unfair in my rating, but I expect only the best from Larchmont, and this place seemed more of a standard Japanese restaurant you can find anywhere. It isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t come out here to grab Japanese(at least based on that one experience so far).

Hmmm… I might try this restaurant a few more time before I commit to a permanent review. So disclaimer. But I’ve stopped by here a few times, usually for to go orders. Which are always extremely well handled and timely. They’re really awesome. The sushi might not be on the same level as maybe some joints in Little Tokyo buuuut the rolls are delicious… and they’re convenient. However, the one time I’ve actually ate inside the restaurant… wasnt the kind of service I was expecting. I came in at a really dead time… I was the only person there. Which was perfect, I really wanted to take my time for my late lunch and relax. The server sat me down at a table, and the usual. I asked for a pen to fill out the paper menu, and she told me «I’ll just take the order. Why do you need a pen? Theres no one here» It might have been meant as a joke but it came across really condescending. I then informed her, that it was okay and that I’m still thinking of what else I’d like to order so if she can give me a few minutes. And then she stood there. At my table, as I looked over the menu again. It was pretty uncomfortable. The whole experience was really rushed and I felt pressure to eat really quickly. And leave. She also stood at my table when she gave me the bill. I was still eating when I had asked for it, and was finishing my meal… but she just stood there. I hope this isnt a regular thing. Soooo yeaaah…

The owner did shout, «I DONTBELIEVEINREVIEWS!!! before he stormed off, but regardless of whether he believes in reviews or not, I hope YOU as customers do – My office is around Larchmont and I frequent many venues in the area. It’s one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of Los Angeles. Quiet and quaint, its a pocket of peace in the bustling city. I called in to this restaurant to get a small house salad to go. This was around 12:30 pm. I usually order a whole meal, but today I had lunch from home and just needed some greens. I came in 10 mins after placing the order, paid the cashier, and left the restaurant. Once inside my car and driving off, I noticed that the plastic bag the take out box was in was SOAKED in salad dressing(some kind of soy sauce.) There were puddles of soy sauce lapping inside of the bag. I know this sounds like an exaggeration, but it’s not. I was astounded at the amount of dressing(from such a small salad) and started to panic. I just got a new car and didn’t want the dressing to leak and ruin the interior of the new car. At a stop sign, I quickly started cleaning up the situation so there would be no further damage. At the office, I threw out the plastic and thought to myself, ‘My co-workers are gonna wonder where this tangy, overpowering soy sauce smell is coming from.’ But even until this point, it didn’t occur to me to go back to the restaurant to complain. When I proceeded to open the salad box, the salad was so SOAKED in the dressing that the leaves were wilting. I tried a leaf and and it was so thoroughly salty and gross that it was inedible. I had to throw out the box.(Oh, and they didn’t give me a fork, they gave me chopsticks. I lived in Asia for 15 years… in case someone is wondering if eating salads with chopsticks is an «Asian» practice — it’s not.) After work, around 7:30 pm I was running an errand across the street, so I dropped by the restaurant with the receipt to talk to them about what happened. FYI, I am not a belligerent person; I believe in communication and conversation. The cashier/server who helped me when I came in during lunch was there and I spoke to her: Salad dressing spilled everywhere, salad was drenched and inedible by the time I got it to the office. Would it be possible to get a refund? I was calm and explained the situation without vexation. She went back to get someone and little did I know what was coming next: Man who turns out to be owner walks over to me. Owner: AREYOUSERIOUS?!? Me:???(Speechless) Man: AREYOUSERIOUS!!! OVER A SALAD? WHYDIDNTYOUASKFORTHEDRESSINGONTHESIDE? Me: I didn’t know the – Owner: WHYDIDYOUCOMEINSEVENHOURSLATER? WHODOESTHATOVER A SALAD? ITSSEVENHOURSAGO. SEVENHOURS. Me: I was at work and just got off – Owner: PEOPLENORMALLYCALL. YOUDIDNTHAVETIMETOCALL? AREYOUSERIOUS? AREYOUDOINGTHISOVER A SALAD??! Me: I took out the food because I didn’t have time to eat here and I was at work so – Owner: I KNOWWHYPEOPLETAKEOUTFOOD. THATWASSEVENHOURSAGO. I CANTBELIEVETHIS. Really?! REALLY!!! Me: I was working for the past five – Owner: I DONTNEEDTOKNOWWHATYOUWEREDOING. I’VEDONETHISFOR15YEARSANDTHISHASNEVERHAPPENEDBEFORE.(Emphasis. Louder shouting.) THISHASNEVERHAPPENEDBEFORE!!! WHATDOYOUWANTMETODO? WHAT? AREYOUSERIOUS!!! OVER A SALAD!!! (Customers in the restaurant are staring.) Me: Ive never come to a restaurant about something like this before, either. Can I talk to the manager? Are you the manager? ***** Actually, I’m dumbfounded. I’m standing there trying to wrap my head around why this man is shouting at me **** Owner: IMTHEOWNER. AND I CANTBELIEVEYOU. OVER A SALAD?! WHATDOYOUWANT? I CAN’T DOANYTHINGFORYOU! Me: Dont you care about reviews? Owner:I DONTBELIEVEINREVIEWS. I CANTTALKTOYOUANYMORE! … Pushes past me and storms away. He was mean, nasty and vicious. He shouted a lot more things but this is the condensed Unilocal version. After this encounter, I stepped outside and I stood on the sidewalk for a few moments because I was still trying to understand what had happened. It felt surreal. The anger hit me hard on the sidewalk. I’ve been to all kinds of joints/restaurants in all parts of the country and in different parts of the world. This is HANDSDOWN the most terrible experience I’ve had with a business owner. The salad was about $ 6. The owner wasn’t having a bad day; he just straight up didnt care and didnt want to care. He immediately started shouting. Never heard me out. I didnt even bring up the issue about the new car. I was being respectful and calm. How do you run a business with that kind of attitude? Anyways, this is a seriously long review. If you’ve read this far — thank you. PLEASEDONOTSUPPORTTHISVENUE. It should be boycotted. *Go to the Sushi Restaurant across the street. Much better service and food.*

I’ve been going here for years with family and friends and have never been disappointed by the food or the service. The sushi is of solid quality and there is a wide selection from which to choose, all at very reasonable prices, and the service has always been friendly and attentive in my experience. My favorites at this spot are the Spicy Tataki roll, sunomono, spicy tuna hand roll, rainbow roll, and their entire selection of udon soups. I’ve never been disappointed by my food there in the decade I’ve been going there. 100% would recommend this place if you’re looking for good sushi for a good price.

We have been going to this place for years — I’ve been here dozens of times — and it has never disappointed. The rolls are all great, my favs are the Hungry Roll and the Tempura Rolls. My son has a thing for their tuna hand rolls, and my husband for their yummy Spicy Tuna Salad. They also do a great bento box. The service has never been anything but attentive and cheerful. I’d so much rather eat here than at other places on Larchmont where people inexplicably line up outside for mediocre food

I don’t understand how this place is still in business. The food is not terrible but it is overpriced for what you get. There were some rolls that tasted good, such as the Caterpillar Roll, but again not worth what you pay. I am giving one star for the food/price but three stars for service since my server was very friendly. So I averaged it out to two!

Yikes, avoid this spot for sure. I order a lunch special of California roll, miso soup and shrimp tempura roll. These are pretty basic things but somehow were botched. Miso soup was grainy, and both California roll and shrimp tempura roll were made with solid imitation crab. I had one bite of each and couldn’t stand anymore.

Their sushi and rolls are just okay. But I specifically asked for no wasabi in my 20 some pieces of sushi, the server put the plate on our table and said«sorry, it has wasabi in it» and just left it there… Strange…“But I asked for no wasabi” Then the server goes«can you not eat wasabi at all?» Slightly getting frustrated, «not eating wasabi at all is not the problem here…» «well then you should be fine, sushi chef just forgot and he put little bit in there» SERIOUSLY? What is that? Would they do that to someone who had food allergy of some sort too? I just couldn’t believe it! I spent good amount of money and ordered plentiful, but I just could not believe a restaurant that was not busy at all(there was just one other table that day when we were still there) did that!!! Restaurant who does not take order seriously and put things customer specifically asked to take out and mentioned it several times, yet still brings out food and is not willing to take back… That can be seriously dangerous in some cases…

About 40 dollars later, I would think the sushi would have been better. Friend of mine placed a order for pick-up and I could honestly say I was disappointed. Never have I seen so much rice wrapped and double wrapped with more and more rice inside sushi! After a few pieces I was full! I love to eat and can usually really eat more than a few pieces! Then I realized that the filling inside had the smallest pieces of fish accompanied with more rice. Other than that major detail, the freshness here is on point. The shrimp is very fresh and tastes great! Again, I wish they would cut down on rice! I ended up throwing away a lot of the rice filler and the rice wrapped around the sushi. :(

Food: We ordered the Salmon Spicy Scallop Roll(my favorite, but the pieces are tiny!), crunch roll, gyoza(small but delicious), and mussels(flavorful). We had two entrees and 2 appetizers for two of us but I was still hungry after all the food. Usually when I go to a sushi restaurant and order this much, I would be full by the end. Service: We came forty minutes before closing on a weekday so we had to rush our orders and ingest our food swiftly. The waiter came to check on us twenty minutes before the kitchen closed and we ordered our last dish since I was still starving, so that was considerate of her. Extra tip for that! Parking: You can find parking on the streets of Larchmont(usually paid if you come during the day or busy hours). Otherwise, you can go a little further and find free parking in the neighborhood and just walk to the restaurant(not far at all). Ambiance: We sat outside in the nice weather that night. I always choose to sit outside because I get a very nice view of the Larchmont Village and atmosphere(not too loud, not too quiet, just about right).

This is one of my favorite neighborhood sushi restaurants. The food is delicious and fresh, the service cheerful and its kid friendly. I come here at least once a month for lunch or dinner. My favorite dishes are the baked salmon roll, the vegi tempura roll, and the«five piece sushi» special that comes with California roll. My husband likes the Kobe beef teriyaki and the udon soup. They also serve beer, wine and saki. The décor is simple and clean. There’s outdoor dining, indoor dining, and an in between patio area too. Because it’s not a trendy place there’s almost always a table available somewhere.

I’ve been here a couple of times but never got around to write a review. Today we had the lunch special. Which was OK. It should be a bit cheaper cause then you would have more people come in. We sat down outside cause the bus boy said the AC was not on during the day. Which hello it was on when I went to use the bathroom. UGH. Anyways the lunch comes with miso soup a choice of Cali roll, spicy tuna or darn I forgot. Brain fart!!! But yes you can pick one of those and get a A-I entrée which let me name a few. salmon teriyaki, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura udon, shrimp tempura roll, salmon roll, crunch roll and etc. We ordered the Udon which my daughter liked. I ordered the beef teriyaki which was good but it just was beef teriyaki bowl. My mom ordered the salmon which did not come with rice. Weird. We also ordered the dynamite. It was good but my mom said it changed. The taste was different. I guess they have a new chef or they changed the way they make it. Service was great. They filled our water lots since yeah I looked a mess from walking 3 miles to the place. LOL But great workout going back home.
