I am very fond of this place, the bookstore and library are a impressive specialty.
Having attended some lectures, I wish that they had more oomph. Obviously targeted at Jungian analysts (which I am not), the speakers are learned, accomplished and doubtless engrossed with the subject matter. They’re intellectually oriented, almost dry and could use a bit of zeal to make it more entertaining. Also the $ 40 admission is a bit steep for lay people that are not writing off the fee on their taxes as research/​education. I’ve left the lectures feeling that I would have rather spent the money in the bookstore instead.
There isn’t anything elitist about this place, just maybe needs a B-​12 injection?
Recommended parking is across the street in the lot for the golf course and park, save yourself some frustration.

Aside from my library and museum visits, this place is one of my favorite haunts. It feeds my spiritual, intellectual, and professional hungers. Traffic along Pico Boulevard is always busy, and finding parking for this institute is challenging, unless you park on Beverly Glen after 6 PM for an evening class. There is a scholarly library with, of course, the collected works of the venerable C.G. Jung and his disciples like Marie-​Louise von Franz. The book store has most of the same. There are unique gift items, such as jewelry that have archetypal figures painted on them, figurines of the ancient god (deses), and totems from Latin American or Asian cultures. Outside the offices where the clinicians do their sessions, there is a shaded patio with a calming fountain, very close but worlds away from Pico Boulevard. And, of course, I go to the Institute frequently for their public programs, which are both informative and inspiring, and geared for both clinicians and non-​clinicians.
