Bro’s BBQ

BBQ in highland park?! I drove past here and the smell of the ribs being smoked caught my attention! I only had six bucks and some change on me and that was enough for a «3 rib plate» and a can of soda. It was a good amount if food for the price! It came with a side of brown rice, beans (with chunks of meat in it), and a baked potato. nothing special about the potato, It was a plain potato, but it went well with the food.
The ribs were great! They were almost all meat! I love ribs where you can see the smoke line on the meat! They were tender and packed with flavor! The BBQ sauce was thick and complimented the ribs well.
All and all I give it 4 stars for being so convenient and affordable. I’ll be coming back here next Sunday!

Ahhh the wonderful smell of BBQ in the air, what this? BBQ in Highland Park!, NO I’m not talking Carne Asada I’m talking real BBQ you know Ribs, Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Beans, I gotta check this out.
So I’ve actually been here a few times and while it’s NO Bludso’s, it’s pretty good food for the price and something different for us locals who live in the area.
They set up their smokers in the parking lot of American Woodworks Furniture at 6719 N, Figueroa St. early Sunday morning and around 11:00 or so when food is ready they open the gate and are ready for business.
Half rack of pork ribs, and sides is $ 10.00 or Chicken and sides $ 5.00
Ribs —
Good smokey flavor and nice amount of meat, he also makes his own bbq sauce that they give you on the side which is pretty damn good
Chicken —
Your choice of Breast or Leg and I prefer the white meat so got the breast, the chicken was cooked to perfection and very moist inside.
Both ribs and chicken comes with sides Rice yeah I said rice, Beans, Corn on the Cob, Baked Potato and bbq sauce, plenty of food!
Sides —
The beans had a real good flavor, but each time I’ve been there they’ve changed the way they make them not sure why but I still have always enjoyed them so I guess that’s the most important part.
Sides —
Delicious beans (with a little added salt), grilled corn on the cob was so sweet and so good, I passed on the rice, baked potato was just that a baked potato I guess if you take it home you can add butter or something.
Overall don’t come here expecting the best BBQ, but it’s good BBQ at reasonable prices and a nice change for those of us who live in the area, and if your nearby come check them out. 3.5-Stars
