Cute little place in Los Angeles. Was not really satisfied with my Tuna Tartare, but Lobster tacos were delicious!

It was my first time, drawn here by Dine LA. The menu had a pretty good selection. I ordered the ½ oysters as the appetizer, seafood pasta for the entrée, and the key lime pie for dessert. The oysters were amazing, even though I’ve just been recently introduced to eating them raw. They were great with just lemon on them, mainly because I don’t like cocktail sauce. The seafood pasta was actually the highlight for me. They didn’t give a whole lot of everything(2 shrimps, two calamaris, and 2 pieces of fish), but they were all cooked really well. For dessert, they came out with their famous key lime pie, which didn’t disappoint. It left me with a full stomach and a note for one of the best key lime pies I’ve had so far. Was this the 3 course meal worth $ 39? Probably not, but I’ll definitely be back to try their other things on the menu. Side note: my friend got the lobster roll but it was extremely small and said it didn’t live up to her expectations. Maybe not the best thing to get for Dine LA.

Absolutely delicious!!! We started with oysters and the butter salad(which I highly recommend) then the lobster roll(to die for) and the branzino(yummy). We ended with key lime pie and strawberry short cake. The service was exceptional and very reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

Came here for DINELA and it was a great choice! First course: six oysters Second course: lobster roll with sweet potato chips Third course: key lime pie Extra orders: more oysters — Kumamoto Valet parking is offered right when you arrive however, street parking is also available. The place is small but there’s enough room for everyone. I came here on a busy Saturday night, the place was pack but I never felt squished or overwhelmed with the crowded. It was a fun place to come with a group of people and enjoying a bunch of good seafood. Will be back again. High recommend the lobster roll! :)

Me and my sister got a dozen surf rider oysters, a lobster roll, and crab cake. EVERYTHING was so friggin good. The crab cake was stuffed with real crab and almost no filler. Hands down best crab cake. The lobster roll was dressed and the fries were perfectly deep fried. Super crispy. The only problem I had was that it put a dent in my wallet, but seafood is pretty expensive so I new I was gonna spend a pretty penny.

We came for the happy hour($ 1 dollar oysters, beer and wine, oysters in this case were Surfriders from Washington State). It worked and now after a dozen each we are working our way through the mussels in white wine and the tuna tartare, everything is spot on except the white Sangria, but my wife handed it back and the waiter exchanged it for free for a glass of particularly appropriate Sauvingnon Blanc. Wholeheartedly recommended if you are in the mood for excellent seafood.

Outstanding spot with fresh oysters. Seafood absolutely must rise to highest standards, and Blue Plate Oysterette does. They allowed me to taste the champagne before I committed to a glass, and I must say that impressed! Then the boulebaisse! Oh my. Fantabulous. Sublime. Damn! Perfect tonic for a rainy Saturday night. I will be back. Do not forget the key lime pie. Smack me upside my head so good… mmmmmmm. Hallelujah.

I am only docking a star, because of the parking situation. It is practically valet parking only, and there is a lot of ongoing traffic. In terms of food, I had the opportunity to have an assortment of the oysters, which were fresh and reasonably priced at $ 2-$ 5 an oyster depending on the kind you get. I also ordered the lobster roll, which was reasonable in size and served with fresh warmed butter. I also tried the lobster tacos, which was delicious and packed with flavor. We ordered also the calamari, which the breading kept falling out and it wasn’t as crunchy as I’d hope. But other than that, it was still flavorful. The oyster rockefeller was good too. The ambiance is really nice, and what I really like is they serve fresh lemonade. I am not a pumpkin pie person, but I managed to taste a piece of my sister’s pie, and I have to say it was pretty good. It didn’t have too much of the pumpkin flavor, it was a nice balance of pumpkin.

This was a very quick visit as I only stopped in for a beer and dessert. I was sat right away at the bar and was told the key lime pie was the best dessert on the menu from one of the hostess. I gave her the thumbs up because that’s what I came for and she only made me more eager to try it LOL. Without a doubt, this was arguably the best key lime pie I’ve had in years. I great mix of both sweet and tart with a delicious crust surrounding the filling. I’d gladly drive back for this pie. I didn’t order any plates and didn’t get the full dining experience here so three stars is pretty fair for now. I’ll be making my way back for lunch or dinner. Dessert 11/20/2015

Blue Plate Oysterette has the best happy hour, which features $ 1 oysters(fanny bay when I went). During my first visit here, my friend and I got the ahi tuna tacos and the lobster roll. Both were great but the portions were rather small, so order accordingly. During my second visit, we ordered the Caesar salad(basic, I know), fish and chips, and the grilled fish tacos. The star of the meal was the fish and chips. The outside of the fish was perfectly crispy while the inside was flaky and fluffy. Not too greasy or oily. Delicious! The grilled tacos were tasty as well and included 3 tacos with big pieces of white fish with cabbage. I’ll definitely be back.

This place was delicious and chill! I ran over here for the $ 1 oyster deal and boy was I satisfied. The oysters were very juicy and fresh. My boy ordered the fish and chips, which he wasn’t too crazy about. In my opinion it tastes good, but I’m sure he was looking for that NYC fried whiting taste and not the fresh cod that was used. All in all this place is great!

This review is for happy hour only — friend and I came here for Blue Plate Oysterette’s happy hour from 4−6pm. $ 1 oysters come with 3 types of sauces — cocktail, Vietnamese fish sauce, and some third sauce which I’m not entirely sure what is made of but server didn’t detail to us. Wish he would have. Or maybe I’m expected to know these things — SORRY I DON’T. :( They had 4 beers on tap — Allagash White, a pilsner, a saison, and Stone IPA. Don’t know where the pilsner/saison were brewed, but HEYLOOKATME I CANNAMEBEERSKINDA ;) $ 5 for beer on tap. I hope I’m not being super pretentious by giving this place a 3-star. During happy hour, they only offer oysters, though, which is the main reason I didn’t enjoy the experience. Wish they had a little more selection than that, especially just for a bit of variety.(Though I get that the oysters are supposed to sort of be the crowning glory of the place, I guess) It’s just sometimes I can’t get full off of only oysters. Like can’t I even get some crackers? Anyway… if you’re here for some real nice oysters during happy hour, please come here and enjoy. But just know that that’s all you’ll be getting. I’m hella curious about how their other food is(i.e. lobster roll), but I guess I’ll never know.

Oyster craving? Seafood craving? Come hither. Blue Plate on Beverly does not look to be your ordinary restaurant on the block but it doesn’t matter. They know how to deliver seafood! FOOD/SERVICE: Awesome waiter. Gave suggestions, complimented our strategic choices, & charmed customers all around. Didn’t even hide his laugh when he caught me going for that money shot of my undressed Lobster roll. Speaking of, that lobster roll was divine! As were their oysters! Got a dozen and did half East coast & half West coast. West coast oysters looked bigger but East coast were much meatier.(Size don’t matter– Case & point!). ANYWAY, also got the seafood platter and fish ‘n chips! Seafood platter came with limited fried oysters, okay amount of shrimp(good sized though not the puny ones chained seafood restaurants cough up), and plenty calamaris to share. Fish ‘n chips were crispy but those fries. Golden & delicious. The sweet potato chips were alright. Definitely should’ve gotten the fries w/my lobster roll. Will I come back? Yes. On my next paycheck meal splurge. It’s FRESH quality seafood, guys. Not your Red Lobster kind of dish. Heads up(s): — Came Saturday for brunch, not too busy. Seated right away. — Parking. It’s LA, folks. Beverly can be as bad as Melrose sometimes. — Dessert? Unfortunately did NOT try that key lime pie everyone spoke about(key lime isn’t really my cup of tea.) but Fonuts was easy walking distance! Digest as you walk those two minutes down the street.

Another Bouillabaisse Adventure! The restaurant was packed when we arrived, good thing we called for reservations. Ambience is a little loud, bright lights, and the tables are close to each other. :Food: For appetizers we got the Fried Seafood Combo which came with calamari, oysters, and shrimps. I didn’t like the batter much and it was bland. We got the Bouillabaisse but unfortunately it was not as good as we hoped it to be. I wasn’t a fan of the broth. It had clams(I requested for no mussels but more clams), fish, and scallop. The Salmon was good but nothing special. It came with homemade pickled vegetables and lemon caper sauce. The dish that I did enjoyed the most was the Wild Blue Fish with Chimichurri and asparagus. ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) :Customer Service: It was«ok». The customer service was not bad but it wasn’t great. The person who took care of our table was friendly but at times I felt like we were bothering her when we asked for something. :Tip: Call for reservations :M’s Notes: ~Indoor and outdoor seating ~Street parking

Date of service: Jan 20, 2015 Meal: Dinner, eat in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 8 Food to Spend Value: 7 Quality of Service: 9 Overall Rating: 8 Dine LA is a great thing as it propels people to try places that they hadn’t previously considered. I had never been to Blue Plate before, but they were on the DineLA list and had a nice three course menu for $ 50, so I decided to check it out. Two people going to dinner meant being able to order two 3-course meals and sample a number of different things. The first course offered Chef’s Crudo, Crab Cake, Butter Lettuce Salad, Butternut Squash Soup, and Six Oysters on the Half Shell. We went with the oysters and the crab cake. The oysters were quite good and very fresh, but the crab cake was definitely the highlight of course #1. It was a good size with very tasty lump crab meat, and the breading on the cake was well seasoned and the right level of crispiness. It was definitely a great way to start the dinner. The second course gave an option from the following: Grilled Octopus, Lobster Roll, Roasted Branzino, and Scallop Risotto. We opted for the Grilled Octopus and Roasted Branzino. The octopus came with braised cannellini beans and lemon gremolata. The flavor was simply out of this world. The octopus was very well prepared and was quite tender, and the beans and gremolata complemented it perfectly. The Branzino came with white cauliflower purée and orange supremes. It was also incredibly tasty, and the mix of flavors worked really well. I did have to watch for bones, so eating it took some effort, but it was well worth the effort. The octopus gets the slight edge of the two entrees, but both were spectacular. The third course was dessert and gave 3 options: key lime pie, crème brulee, and fruit sorbet. We went with the key lime pie and crème brulee. The crème brulee was good but not exceptional, while the key lime pie was stunning with a fantastic crust and the perfect amount of tartness in the body of the pie. Even after I finished the pie I was wanting more. The menu for DineLA had a good bit of variety and also provided good value, as the individual sum of our respective orders would have cost more than the $ 50 price tag of the special menu. The portions themselves were also quite good, and the food quality and taste was superb. The service was also top notch, making for an overall fantastic experience. DineLA drew me in, but I will definitely be back and look forward to trying some of the other items on their menu.

I’ve been looking for a good place to get bouillabaisse lately ever since I went to the Oyster Bar in Vegas. There’s quite a bit of Cajun restaurants in the O.C. but it’s quite a distance and considering the traffic getting down there. My friends and I decided to go to dinner and try Blue Plate Oysterette knowing that they have a bouillabaisse on the menu. We were able to get reservations easily by calling in and were seated promptly in a full restaurant. The interior is nice bright white and blue with a center bar and vintage seats. Of course I ordered the bouillabaisse. The others ordered grilled and seasoned fish an a side. The bouillabaisse wasn’t good as I was expecting, nor was it filling. It wasn’t a pure tomato broth but appears to have hints of curry and crème. Sorry, not my style. It came with clams, mussels, shrimp, and lots of fish. Honestly, I was expecting a little crab, a little piece of lobster, and a scallop. I tried the fish dishes from friends entrees. The fish is fresh and tasty and the sides such as the broccolini and coconut brown rice are good. Service here is very good and friendly. Prices here are relatively steep but so are the nicer seafood restaurants. This place is a bit more casual. For what this place is, honestly, I’d rather go to that seafood restaurant in downtown LA(WG).

HAPPYHOUR: 4−6PM M-F $ 1 oysters! For those of you EMC oyster lovers, this is the place to definitely try and maybe migrate to! Although EMC is more of the social hotspot with two happy hour times, if you truly want FRESH and delicious, clean oysters for the same price, I suggest you guys come here! Lobster Mac N Cheese $ 22: From DINELA menu: Chef’s Crudo(which changes daily) albacore tuna sashimi. Pretty fresh, thick slices that melt in your mouth and feel so refreshing, light, and cool. Eat it all together with the condiments of pepper and green. thingy on top! It all goes well together: D Lobster Roll(dressed): chunks of cold lobster mixed with a light mixture of mayo aioli sauce. very refreshing to eat if you want the cold version of the undressed lobster roll. Personally, for me, it is on the heavier side of mayo Lobster Roll(undressed): served fresh and HOT with butter. DELICIOUS.!! Probably the best way to eat the lobster roll in my opinion. The warm temperature makes the lobster chunks melt with its softness in your mouth –Sweet Potato Chips: delicious and crispy! Makes me feel slightly healthy to eat even though it’s fried haha(side to the lobster roll) –Fries: wow they’re so good!!!(Side to the lobster roll) Pros: –I love the layout of the restaurant! There is an inside and outside patio so depending on the weather, it is really refreshing and nice to eat outside and enjoy the nice sun and cool breezes. The layout is white and baby blue, which makes you feel kind of near a pier or beach. –the cups are so cool! They are actually wine bottles that they shaved and smoothed off so the bottom of the cups have that hollow bottom pushed in. –super nice, friendly, and attentive service! –the food was DELICIOUS! everything was so yummy –lobster roll was perfectly cheesy(always a factor and big plus from me: D) –dineLA lunch is totally worth the price! Normally a lobster roll is around $ 26ish? But for $ 25 you get a lobster roll AND an appetizer! –OHH! And free wifi :) Cons: –probably just the traffic that you have to fight for happy hour

I came here for their dineLA lunch special because I happened to be in the area. It’s located down a few blocks from Joan’s on Third. For dineLA, they had a two course $ 25 menu. They have outdoor seating that allowed dogs, so I brought my pup along as well. It was pretty low-key and chill overall. Our server Daniko(I’m probably butchering that?) was really sweet and courteous throughout our meal there! Street parking, no lot. I totally recommend coming here. FOUROYSTERSONHALFSHELL: I really enjoyed these! The four halves I got were pretty big! They have three sauces that you can add too. The oyster came off the shell easily and it was a slurp of goodness! BUTTERNUTSQUASHSOUP: This was really unique to me. It’s slightly on the sweeter side of soups, which I found surprisingly. It’s a good choice if you’re craving soup and a dab of crab meat! LOBSTERROLL: You can order this dressed or undressed. Dressed was already pre-made and served chilled. I got mine undressed, which is served warm and you can drizzle your butter on top: D. I would recommend undressed, but it’s totally preferable. SIDES: Your main dish came with sides. Your options were sweet potato chips, fries, and salad. The salad had a simple cherry vinaigrette, it’s refreshing and comes exactly how you would expect it to. The fries and sweet potato chips were both delicious and came in a decently sized portion(I couldn’t finish it). I think I favored the sweet potato chips more because they’re homemade, not oily, and so yummy! Dunk that thing in ketchup or enjoy them as is. The fries had seasoning that was really good, but is teetering slightly on the salty side. Love their options though! KEYLIMEPIE: When I saw this on the menu, I was hoping it tasted as good as Joe’s Stone Crab Key Lime Pie. It didn’t live up to my expectations when I compared it to Joe’s, but it’s still alright. They do try to make it unique by serving it in a circular shape with the graham cracker crust going all the way up the sides surrounding the pie.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, made reservations for 8:30 pm. The girls at the front were awesome, they really make sure you get your table at the time of your reservation. Since it’s a small place, it’s gets really packed. The food was great! I loved everything we ordered, I honestly think this place has better Lobster Rolls than Connie & Ted’s. We ordered the undressed lobster roll, which means the hot one with butter. Lobster meat was so sweet and juicy, Mmmmm… I’m usually am not a fan of Fish & Chips, but the fried fish here was so flavorful and crisp. Batter was a light tempura batter, not too oily. I didn’t get to try any raw oyster since they go for about $ 3.00 to $ 3.50 per oyster and you can get them for $ 1.00 during happy hour. A MUSTTRY is the Key Lime Pie!!! Oh gosh, it’s like heaven in your mouth. Every bite was insane, cross of tart and sweetness w/the creamy whipped cream on top & topped with shaved lime peels. YUMM!!! Can’t wait to go back and check out the happy hour.

Happy hour is limited to $ 1 oysters and $ 5 sangria and house wines. I ordered the white sangria and found it sweet and refreshing. Cannot comment on the food as I gorged myself on oysters, but the key lime pie is a must try! Loved the maritime inspired interior and the bathroom wallpaper as well. Totally kitschy! Happy to find this seafood gem and can’t wait to return to try more.
