Very long lines due to the FREE to get in event. Extremely unorganized and difficult to navigate. I had to flag down some head guy like 5 – 6 times because he kept pointing me in the wrong direction. I left early feeling some type of way. Free isn’t always good.

Far from the Essence Fest, the west’s first attempt wasn’t that bad. The weekend music festival was punctuated with affordable to hecka-​expensive ticketed events, and a free Fan Fest. Ticketed events included music performances by Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, New Edition, R. Kelly, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurklin, and the Jackson 5. Other ticketed events included comedy by Cedric the Entertainer and ummmm? LOL. Closed with the BET Awards. it was GREAT to be with my people all weekend. The ticketed events, as well as the free fan fest, were great weekend entertainment.
