Love their simple menu. They are so good at making those tacos. Delicious! I like their potato tacos, too. They’re a decent size so I only get 3. I get one shrimp, one fish, and one potato. 4 was too much for me. I would say I am an average eater for a girl. If I were to get one more, I would probably get one more shrimp bc they are my fave. We got there when they opened this one day and the salsas weren’t labeled so I tried each one. Their ‘hot’ was pretty spicy. It goes mild to hot from left to right if you ever have to guess. This is my go-to taco place when I’m on the Eastside.

I don’t even like fish tacos, but I dig Best Fish. The tacos are just the right size to get a few, demolish ‘em, and then not feel like you’re going to die.(I know, lots of comparisons here to Ricky’s — which are much larger tacos). I come and get a few — shrimp is super crispy, fish is very moist, potato is very filling(lots of fixin’s too, so no fear of blandness at all) Batter is light enough to trick you into justifying some healthiness factor. Also you can BYOB if you plan on kickin’ it for awhile.

Indeed, quite possibly the best fish tacos I’ve had are here at Best Fish Taco In Ensenada(at least as of the time of writing this review in January 2016). This place is awesome. Thank you, Unilocal app, for leading us here for lunch after a visit to nearby Griffith Observatory. The owner named this place Best Fish Taco In Ensenada because he modeled the business after the best fish taco stand in the Mexican coastal city of Ensenada, Baja California. This straightforward taco stand has a very simple menu with cheap prices: — Fish taco — $ 1.75 — Shrimp taco — $ 2.25 — Drink — $ 1.00 Their expanded menu includes: — Taquitos — 2 for $ 2.50 — Papa taco — $ 1.75 The papa taco is a potato taco made with russet potatoes, sweet butter, garlic, and Mayan onions with optional chipotle or chile verde salsa, Cotija cheese, cilantro, and scallions. The fish tacos are made with fresh water basa fish(a species of catfish) and you dress them yourself at the salsa bar. The salsa bar contains the following: — Shredded cabbage — Avocado salsa(hot) — Pineapple Kiss salsa(hot) — Mad Mango salsa(hot) — Mango Less(hot) salsa — Traditional salsa(mild) — Radish relish — La Crema Magica(«magic» cream) Each fish taco we had came with two pieces of battered fish inside a soft corn tortilla. The recommended toppings are cabbage, your choice of salsa, radish relish, and cream. Feel free add more than one type of salsa to your taco. I had my fish tacos with cabbage, avocado salsa, Mad Mango salsa, radish relish, and cream. It was glorious. They seem to have perfected the recipe for the quintessential fish taco. The ingredients are fresh. The tender morsels of fish are meaty with an appetizingly crisp batter. The cabbage provides additional texture and crunch. I love spicy food and found both the avocado salsa and the Mad Mango salsa to be legitimately spicy. You might want to try a little at first before covering your entire pieces of fish in them. They have quite the kick. The radish relish adds a nice tartness and the luscious cream brings it all together. I want another one right now just writing about it! I’m allergic to shrimp, so I haven’t tried the shrimp tacos. However, I have tried the other items: the taquitos and the papa taco. The taquitos are premade, presumably each morning, and sit inside a container at the counter. Each pair is deep-fried to order. Speaking of which, each taco is made to order, meaning the tortillas are put on the flat top griddle and the pieces of fish and shrimp are come out of the fryer when you order them. Yum. The taquitos are delicious. Crispy and savory. I suggest eating them with one of the salsas. The papa taco was OK. I really see no reason in ordering it unless you can’t or don’t want to eat the fish or shrimp tacos. I think the fish taco is way better than the papa taco. Agua frescas(«fresh waters») available during our visit were tamarindo(tamarind) and jamaica(hibiscus). We ordered both and they were great. These were made fresh, served out of large jars behind the counter. Sweet, ice cold, and refreshing. The taco stand itself is located in a predominantly residential part of LA’s Los Feliz neighborhood(same neighborhood the Griffith Observatory is located in), just west of Hollywood, Thai Town, and Little Armenia. It looks like a fenced-in«shack» at the corner of Hillhurst and Camero. Look out for it because it can be easy to miss. The place is small, but contains a decent amount of seating. I guesstimate the place can seat upwards of 20 inside and perhaps 10 or more on the covered patio outside. The ambiance is casual and laid back. You stand in line(one register only) and order and pay upfront. Despite the low prices, credit cards accepted. The stand has an aquatic theme with blue-painted walls, wall-tiled fish, a mural of seaweed, ocean artwork, and surf boards with paintings on them. The place is a bit worn and rugged, but that’s part of its charm. The kitchen, including the deep fryer, is out in the open, so you can see everything get prepped and cooked. It can be fun to watch. There’s no dedicated parking lot, but plenty of free street parking is available on Camero, Clayton, and Prospect Aves. We parked on Clayton. If you happen to be in or around Los Feliz, Best Fish Taco In Ensenada is definitely worth checking out. Enjoy!

Far from the best. I don’t know what’s happened in the intervening years, but quality has gone way down as of late. I am almost never one to turn down a taco, but these are almost inedible. I’d say, walk your little feetsies down a few blocks to Ricky’s truck. He’s got a far superior product.

Best. Fish. Tacos. Ever. I hate fish and I love the fish tacos here. The fish is tender and flaky, and super flavorful deep fried in the batter. The tacos accompaniments are great as well, some spicy, some creamy. I always get mine with crema and cabbage. Horchata is great too. Little hole in the wall with great owner.

Best fish tacos hands down. You know food is good when it makes you hungry for more when you’re not hungry to begin with. You don’t taste any greasy breading like most places do with fried fish. The salsa selection bar is grand from mild to surprise-bitch spicy. If you check-in you get a free drink too! The horchata is cinnamon-y and chocolately goodness. I would go to this place at least once a week if I lived closer. The price can’t beat for $ 1.75 for fish and $ 2.25 for shrimp. A place does things right when they only offer two food options on the menu.

A pretty simple menu… Fish tacos, shrimp tacos, papa tacos, or taquitos. There are several sauces to choose from ranging from pineapple kiss to mango less. Even though my palette usually prefers medium, I get the traditional mild as many of the others push borderline hot. On occasion the avocado sauce is made a bit more medium and its phenomenal when it is. The«la crema magica» is a cream type white sauce which is excellent. Give it a try and sprinkle a little bit of radish to give the taco the perfect balance. Its a toss up between the fish and shrimp tacos as they are both quite enjoyable. The potato tacos are ok. I’ve yet to try the taquitos because I’m not much a fan in general. 4 strong stars!

Came here after hiking the Hollywood sign. No line, food came out fast. I love that we can see them cooking the food. We ordered a potato taco, the baby ate it all up. Fish tacos were crispy but could be a little thicker. They also had pulled pork taquitos, I didn’t have it tho. We sat in the patio area, music playing, very relaxing and comfortable. The only reason I would not give it 5 stars is because they didn’t offer limes, what kind of fish taco place doesn’t set out limes? We had to ask for them. Oh and no beer, but they let us bring some from the little market next door. So we were happy in the end. Handicap friendly, even the bathroom.

Slave girl had a Groupon for this place and we totally forgot about it until the date of expiration. Even though we had dinner plan with a friend, we rushed there first before dinner time.(yes, the fatties ate two dinners that night) Parking wasn’t bad for street parking and the staff were very friendly. They have a super small menu for a such spacious restaurant. The only thing they offered were fish taco, shrimp taco, potato taco, taquitos, and homemade drinks. The highlight of this place was their salsa bar. All different kinds of salsa including mango, pineapple, avocado, etc. It’s absolutely necessary needed to enjoy those delicious tacos. The only thing I didn’t like was the oil tasted old. But overall experience was very pleasant. On our way out, the girls were asking us if we wanted to have our drinks refilled. They made us left happy.

Overhyped! I came to try the famous fish tacos but was pretty much disappointed when I left. The order came out very simple with just the fried fish on top of tortilla. You are meant to build your own taco as they have a huge salsa bar just off to the side. They have an assortment of salsas, the cabbage, pickled radish and their white sauce. I tried pretty much everything they had and it was just meh. The fish wasn’t seasoned well and it could have been moister. I don’t think I’ll come back as I’ve tried much better. They don’t hold a candle to Taco Nazo or even Ricky’s. P. S. Parking sucks. It’s pretty much limited to street and can be hard at certain times.

Not the best fish tacos I’ve had, but definitely really good! The fish was fried in front of us right after we ordered. The batter was perfectly crisp and the fish was very moist. The tacos came completely plain. You add your own condiments in their sauce station. I added shredded lettuce, sour cream, and tried some of their mango salsa and avocado salsa(warning; super numbingly spicy. but delicious!).

Came here for a quick lunch during work. The place is a small hole-in-the wall that is easy to miss. Was not busy at all around 11am on a weekday. I ordered 2 fish tacos and 1 shrimp taco. Tbh, I think this place is a little overrated. I liked that the tacos were made fresh. The lady deep fried the fish and shrimp right in front of me immediately after I ordered. A definite perk that food is made to order; however, the tacos themselves were underwhelming. There was a little too much batter and the fish was pretty bland. The shrimp was just a tad bit better but not by much. Presentation was not very good either. When your order is served, it’s just the fish/shrimp in corn tortilla so the tacos looked pretty bleak. They had cabbage and salsa on the side that you served yourself though so you could dress your tacos however you want. There were 5 – 6 different salsas to choose from(mango, pineapple, avocado), which were all pretty good. Wish they were a little spicier though. One major plus is you can get a free aqua frescas with Unilocal check-in. Overall, I would say the tacos were just average. Prices were ok but the food was just mediocre. Not bad if you’re looking for a cheap lunch.

After finally trying one of LA’s top spots for fish tacos, I will be loyal patron for life! This is a fish taco joint so no need to try anything else on their menu. They may have contemptuously but, I feel, appropriately named their business: the signature dish is comparable to the famous fish tacos I have tried all throughout Ensenada, Baja California. The preparation is traditional Baja style: perfectly deep fried, topped on a soft tortilla shell. The rest you prepare yourself at the salsa bar by adding some shredded cabbage, red relish, dab a little crema and spoon in your choice of five salsas.(Choices include traditionally mild, pineapple, mango, mango free and avocado varieties.) The different varieties of salsa adds both a real kick in flavor and certainly a big twist to the dish. The batter is made perfectly and the fish is fresh. They result in achieving a crispy, moist and tasty fish fry. The preparation is simple yet flawless. You get two 2 to 2.5 inch fish nuggets per taco. Initially, there may not appear to be much of a meal until you complete the taco by including the add-ons at the salsa bar. One fish taco is only $ 1.75 a piece! An excellent deal for fish or seafood tacos. Hearty eaters may be satisfied by ordering four of them. No-frills preparation, using the freshest and most quality ingredients, to produce fish tacos that are anything but ordinary. A must-try!

It’s a big statement to call yourself the«Best Fish Taco in Ensenada». Actually, I visited Ensenada a month ago, and this place hardly compares. Given — it’s decent, but I wasn’t that pleased with the product. There were two things on the menu. Fish taco and shrimp taco. The fish taco was okay. It was just a little bland. The shrimp taco was kind of not so good. I really like the shrimp tacos in Ensenada. The shrimps were large and juicy and the batter was hot and crispy. This shrimp taco had tiny shrimps and the batter was super soggy. I felt like I was just eating the batter. I wasn’t a fan of it. The condiments are self serve, so you can put all the toppings, salsa and sour cream that you want. Tip: When you check in, you get a free drink. I got the horchata.

Subpar. Nothing to «write home about». Well, for me at least. However, I will most likely be back for the shrimp and fish tacos but only because I know how to work magic in the kitchen. ;) j/k that’s a white lie! BUT Salt and lemon can make(almost) anything taste magical to my tastebuds, so we shall see, oh! Theres that mexican white cream to, that’s pretty good. I still search for magical shrimp/fish tacos local to this area. SUGGESTIONONHOWTODRESSYOURFISH/SHRIMP TACOS: Drizzle Lemon Sprinkle Salt Add Cabbage Squeeze White Mexican Cream E N J O Y Use Salsa only if you like the baked bbq/burned taste on your tacos! To each their own!

Pretty good fish tacos. For $ 1.75 a taco I’m down. The fish was cooked well and the batter on the fish was nice and light(in weight) but dark in color. The tortillas tasted homemade as well. They do have a salsa bar available with pickled radishes, mild salsa, avocado salsa, cabbage, mango salsa, and pineapple salsa. BUT the salsas looked pretty old, watery, and it smelled pretty bad over there. Being there kind of threw me off. Anyway. The fish tacos were tasty and I actually asked the lady to put the red salsa they had behind the counter on my tacos as well. Pretty good!

I think the name is really deceiving. This place should definitely not be called the best fish tacos in Ensenada. I feel like it’s such an insult to people from there and all Mexicans in general. Perhaps the reason why they make their food the way they do is because they are in hipsterland and they don’t know any better or have never had the privilege of having awesome fish tacos. Maybe it’s because I’ve been spoiled by my friends and co-workers who are Latino. Thankfully, they are great cooks and I am so well fed! I ordered a fish taco, shrimp taco, potato taco, taquitos and horchata. All were bland. Sure, after adding salsa and crema it was better, but do we need to add all that to make it taste decent. The tortilla was so hard and definitely not fresh. The salsas were okay, but could be better. The potato filling was lukewarm and tasteless. The horchata was gritty as if it was made from powder. On a positive note, it’s cheap and maybe you get what you pay for. The service is fast and friendly. The place is clean. If you want some excellent food, go to Mariscos El Jato!

This place is a pretty good find. My favorite is the shrimp taco. It was seasoned really well. I thought the fried fish was pretty bland. They have a variety of salsas such as pineapple, traditional and mango salsas ranging from mild to hot. I didn’t like the spicy radish much. The salsa bar is self-serve so you can load up your taco as much as you want and top it with crema. The menu is very simple: fish or shrimp tacos. You pay at the register and can watch as they fry your batter-coated fish and shrimp. They put three pieces in one tortilla, which is very generous given the $ 1.75 for fish and $ 2.25 for shrimp. It a hole-in-the wall with a petty nice seating area outside actually.
