I knew this place wouldn’t survive. I ordered a $ 19 turkey sandwich a few months ago. You would think for the price it would at least come with chips/salad/something. Nope. Just a $ 20 turkey sandwich. The prices were way too high for the quality. I hope something much better gets put into that location.

I was so happy to find this business on Seamless! I’m coming from New York where absolutely every shop is dying for more business via Seamless, to LA where restaurants don’t want to deal with delivery so I’m forced to use the ever SOEXPENSIVE Postmates. I’m glad that Bella Julia was smart enough to get on there! My critique is based on the quality of the food delivery– when ordering a $ 17 pasta with a $ 3 delivery fee + tip, an oversized styrofoam container is not going to cut it. They really should show pride in their food and provide a better experience with some nicer reusable plastic containers– the cost of that vs styrofoam is not astronomical and for a higher end café, it’s the least they can do. Still love this place and will order again, but hoping they improve the delivery experience because there is a LOT of money to be made on Seamless!

Omg! Delish! We had the artichoke sandwich, pasta marinara & peanut butter cookies with chocolate ganache. Pleasant space, beautiful chandeliers and the sweetest staff. :) the prices will feel expensive, but you’ll realize it’s worth it(and portions are big enough to split). I will be back.

Yum!!! I came here looking for Village Pizzeria and was surprised to find this place instead. But hey– it’s still Italian food! And it was delicious! I ordered the meatball sandwich, tender meatballs in delicious sauce and just the right amount of fresh cheese with arugula on fresh made toasted sourdough bread. I read another review that mentioned the meatball sandwich– I disagree with their negative comment, I thought it was SO good! Ate the whole thing, before I could take a picture– oops. Five stars because everything is made fresh to order with fresh non GMO ingredients, and the owner is a lovely lady who really puts her heart in this place. You can taste the love! I like the open concept, being able to see the food being prepared is awesome! And love the décor, they’ve done a great job. Modern and clean. The prices are on the high side, but it matches the quality. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Hostess /waitress very friendly and attentive I had a lattee and a cookie for $ 10 The $ 6 cookie wasn’t good. They kept it in a refrigerated case. It was so cold I couldn’t taste it. When I asked to have it warmed up someone from the kitchen said no that the Nutella center would melt. I asked for just a little warmth to take the chill off. Was declined Still looks like a nice place I might try the food if I’m ever near here again. I try to give my money to small businesses

Tonight we went to try the food and dare I say HEAVENLY… I had the lasagna and it was awesome so awesome that my 2yr old granddaughter stole my dinner for herself and smacked my hand when I went for a bite of my dinner… she loved it and my friend had the roasted chicken so delicious with the roasted veggies and the sauce what can I say… FABULOUS every bite. The most delicious food I’ve had. Come and try the food made with local ingredients and cooked from scratch with love from a beautiful soul named CHEFCHAZASMITH. I am proud and honored to call her friend and an inspirational person.

Had the biscuit du jour. it was delicious. Full of yummy treats. Los of different flavors and textures. Tasted the French toast, amazing! The Nutella whip cream is unbelievable! How do you make it?! It’s not totally smooth, has some chunks of Nutella in it. Even the coffee was lovely.

This little off-the-beaten-path Hollywood eatery is a few blocks off Hollywood Boulevard, away from the madness, nestled in a former pizzeria space on Yucca Street. The décor is minimalist; white walls and simple tables. This place isn’t about Hollywood or décor – It’s ALL about the FOOD. My BFF and I wandered in on a Saturday morning for brunch and were met with the owner/proprietor and his chef wife — we had no expectations and were simply hoping for a nice cup of latte and maybe some pancakes. What we got was an awesome cup of latte and pancakes that were elevated beyond anything we’d ever tasted before. The Lemon Basil pancake with Scrambled Eggs and Blistered Cherry Tomatoes was a meal unlike I’d ever had. Maple butter with rosemary garnished the side(who would have thought that rosemary would bring out even more maple flavor??) and the blistered tomatoes were like little candies, sweet and savory at the same time. The perfectly scrambled eggs(not too dry, not too runny) had a hint of lemon, and the pancake was fluffy and moist. Also on our meal menu was the Belgian Waffle with Strawberries and Nutella Whipped Cream — a picture-perfect Belgian waffle with just the right amount for crisp on the edges arrived with lovely, fresh sliced strawberries, but the star of this show was the hand-whipped cream with Nutella carefully folded in. No butter necessary for this dreamy confection. I am looking forward to visiting this hidden gem again.

What you see is not what you get here. Beautiful pasta photos got us to come here. Once we saw the prices for pasta and sandwiches, we seriously considered leaving. However, we were hungry and thought we’d give it a shot. After all, the photos were of handcut pasta and that’s worth a pricy tab, right? But it’s not handmade or handcut pasta. Places like factory kitchen and bestia charge more for high quality pasta and it’s absolutely worth it. Why pay $ 13 – 18 for pasta you can buy at Ralph’s? You can see the whole kitchen from half of the restaurant. That means you see everything prepared. That’s how I know that they use cheap commercial pasta and make it pretty. And there’s no salad bits or any sides to speak of. The sandwich was also nothing to write home about. They tasted pretty good but not worth the price. I think the management should remove those disingenuous photos from Unilocal. And if you go here, you are paying high prices for some cute décor that you can only see from one side of the restaurant.

Great local restaurant! Visited twice already for lunch and dinner, very happy and I left full both times. Portions are tasty, big and satisfying. The eggplant parm is great. My next time will be to try breakfast-I’ve heard good things and look forward to it.

I’ve been dreading writing this review as this café is brand new and sometimes it takes a bit to get the gears goin. But. with all these stellar reviews, I thought I had to share my opinion of my experience. First of all, I’m Sicilian. The chef herself and the host both expressed to me that she was just recently trained in Italy. The menu does echo an Italian flare so I was excited to try this place out.(Living in Beachwood Canyon, this café seemingly fits the neighborhood) I’ll get to the pro’s first. The Chef and what I believe to either be her father or husband as the host, are very nice. They are welcoming and seem excited to have opened their café. That’s about it. The con’s: The atmosphere inside is just strange. The kitchen is set up as a wide open floor plan so you can see everything and hear everything. When this setup is done properly, its nice. But here, its like you are eating in front of their entire staff, hearing pots and pans rattle and hearing the conversations of what should be the back of the house. To me, it was just odd. The seating is limited around and right above the prep area of the kitchen and then against the one window. Felt cramped and uncomfortable. The Food: We ordered the Burrata Caprese Salad. It was supposed to be topped with fresh basil and I thought served with some sort of crostini. Instead, it was a pile of burrata coated in olive oil with some sliced tomatoes. It wasn’t for me or my mom visually but it seemed to be done with all fresh ingredients. Was it ok? Sure. Was it stellar? Not by any means. The Porchetta Sandwich. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT. DONOTORDERTHIS. If anyone has had a good porchetta sandwich(Rocco’s on Vermont and Franklin does it out of this world) you know that its thinly sliced pork loin that has been rolled in garlic and herbs and roasted. Usually served with a mayo on an Italian roll. What came out to me was, honest to god, chopped pot roast. It was inedible, soggy and downright atrocious. I desperately wanted to send it back but the owner was so enthusiastic about her menu and her dolphin safe tuna, I didn’t have the heart to burst her bubble. The husband/father host claimed this is how its done in Northern Italy. I silently smiled and nodded and tried to hold back the vomit. The beauty of Unilocal is, hopefully they read this and either remove it from their menu or get it right. It is a monumental mistake.(As you can tell, I take porchetta seriously! And they should too) My mom ordered the meatball sandwich. It was just as big of a disaster on taste and appearance. The meatballs we’re ok. Stellar? No. I tasted her sandwich and that was enough for me. I hate to be so negative but I feel like people should know how I felt eating there. I have high hopes for them to work out the kinks and be a place that the neighborhood loves.

Just had a «ham and cheese panino» at bella Julia. Maybe it’s just me, but when I read«panino» on a menu I have certain expectations. Firstly that it’s a pressed sandwich on a certain style of bread and second that it’s trying to resemble something Italian namely an Italian sandwich . What I was presented with was not that. It was a very generous sandwich however it wasn’t even close to Italian. It was more in the neighborhood of Munich. So I would have rather they called it a sandwich because then I have no expectations of what I’m in for and read the menu a bit more carefully. Let’s just say it had way too much mustard and apples in it. Which is fine in a sandwich just not in a panino. FYI wait staff of greater Los Angeles, panini is the plural of panino. Don’t tell me you’ll be right back with my solo panini. Also there’s a Pet Shop Boys song called paninaro, which is about Italian teen aged boys who subsist on mostly sandwiches.

Amazing food and amazing ingredients. They use mostly organic ingredients and from what I understand prepare everything from scratch in-house(smoke their own ham and coconut, etc). Four of us Dined here together and shared everything. In no particular order we had the Bella Julia club sandwich, calamari appetizer, caprese burata appetizer, amalfi coast tuna salad sandwich, catch-of-the-day salad. Some hi lights: The layers of flavour in the club sandwich were incredible. This was probably my favourite. The«bacon» prepared coconut was a pleasant surprise. The breading on the calamari was nice and light, perfect(not heavy and oily like most places make it). And the marinara sauce served with it was so flavourful. I could go on and on. Do yourself a favour and check out this new hidden gem in Hollywood.

Went there for breakfast about the 3rd day it was open. Everyone was friendly and I was told about the goal of becoming a neighborhood staple. I love the idea, and my brioche toast with Nutella was realllly tasty(although 1 piece with a tablespoon of Nutella for $ 6 is a bit steep). I think the prices are too high to be a neighborhood go-to. All the breakfast entrees were around $ 12 – 16. I know organic isn’t cheap, but there should be a couple of items that are $ 8 or $ 9 as a base price with some add-ons to make the menu a bit more approachable. Maybe something like couple of eggs on a slice of that brioche toast for $ 9 would be a slam dunk in my book.

I work in the neighborhood and was bummed out when my two minute walking distance lunch joint, Village Pizza, left this location but excited to see what new restaurant would take over. Bella Julia did not disappoint! I was fortunate enough to be their first dine-in customer and pleasantly surprised to see that they had a ton of vegetarian options that were free of soy and fake meat. I ordered the Bella Julia club: fresh avocado seasoned in sea-salt, lettuce, tomato and coconut bacon on bread that had just been made in house that morning. I don’t think I’ve ever described a sandwich as «magical» before but that was the first word that came to mind. As a pretty conscientious consumer, it was great to hear from the chef/owner that all of her ingredients are GMO free. The staff is really friendly and as Bella Julia flaunts an open kitchen, it’s great to be able to see what care and pride they put into the food they serve. As a bonus, the décor is clean, classy and simple. This is likely my new go-to two minute walking distance lunch joint. It’s exactly what this little corner of Hollywood needed.
