Cute café with American style food. Hiked up to the Hollywood sign then ended up here for lunch. I would imagine parking being a b**** so wouldn’t visit this café just for the food. But since it was conveniently a few more steps from my car after the hike, decided to try it out. Ambiance is a little noisy on a Saturday afternoon; I wouldn’t try to do work here. Pretty good food. Decently priced. Okay service. Plus they have free WiFi for an hour to make up for the negative phone service in the area.

The food is decent. My girlfriend and I have come here a few dozen times over the last few years. The food is still decent. However, we were never very pleased by the slow and uninspired service. We ate there this morning, and our server acted as if she was doing us a favor by taking our order. Surly? Yes. Cheerful and friendly? No! When she brought the food, she practically threw the plates on the table. The busboy was way more attentive. When she brought my check, she gently tossed it on the table as she was walking away, and looking the other way. If you don’t want to work there, go somewhere that you’re happy. The bad attitude shows, and it shows big time. We won’t be back, as this isn’t the first time service was questionable, as well as relatively slow. The food is still decent though, and it’s a nice little café. Too bad the staff doesn’t carry on the bright and cheery look of the place.

This place is a solid three stars. Okay service — not friendly but efficient. The food came out faster than expected. The portions are not that big and they charge extra for syrup on the french toast($ 2 for bacon syrup and no other syrup available). They also charge for water. Aside for the nickel and diming, the food was good. The French toast was good but I had to order a side of bacon(4 total $ 1 a piece). Oink(for the record, I only ate two bacon and shared). They ran out of sausage and green juice. Also, they ran out of TP in the women’s bathroom so we had to wait until our next stop.

Gave it another try today and there still is something«off» about all the main aspects of dining here. Want to support small local businesses, but the service and food here were once again lukewarm, not to mention that the café now charges for water(but this is not mentioned when you ask for it). This minor fact wouldn’t even be on my radar if we had been told about the charge, but b/c we weren’t, it just adds to the plethora of irritants that make dining here unpleasant.

The food here is awesome! I’ve only been here a few times and looking at the menu I don’t really feel sold but when the food gets there it’s so good. I’ve had the Fez Salad(amazing and I don’t like beets. I got it minus the yogurt), the tea crème brûlée(best I’ve ever had!) and a few others which were also amazing. I feel like there should be pictures next to the menu item because the food is all so beautiful and the text doesn’t really sell that.

I give this business a 4 not primarily because there is any bad quality or because it isn’t a fabulous place. I just don’t quite feel it makes a 5. Pros– The Beachwood Café is a friendly mom and pop environment. It feels very homey and it is a nestled in the Hollywood hills. There is a tasty menu with healthy options. I mean really healthy. Their breakfast can be ordered up until 3pm. They offer a water that is 5 times filtered and there is a 1 hour TWC wifi you can use. Prices are average. Cons– If you need to use your cell phone there is absolutely no service. The parking is very scarce, mainly if you are visiting for lunch. After about 3p the place clears out. Like I said, overall I would recommend this place. The food is good and the staff is friendly.

In short: A well-lit, noisy neighborhood café with a diner-like feel, pretty good food, and reasonable prices. Ambiance: Noisy. The open design and high ceilings don’t help, as you can hear the clinking of silverware and plates more loudly than the person across from you. They’ve hung what look like the sleeping pads from baby cribs from the ceiling — I assume to try to dampen the noise. Better option might be to close off the kitchen completely and try to at least reduce the non-conversational noises. With the décor and design the place feels more like a diner(minus booths) than a café. Some positives: the café is well-lit, reasonably clean, and there are plenty of seats/tables without making things feel too crunched. Definitely not a place where you’re practically sitting in the lap of the diner next to you. Food: We had egg scramble, breakfast rosemary potatoes, and the Sophia(?) bowl, which consisted of brown rice, kale, tofu, pickled something, and peanut sauce. I liked both, but was not blown away by any means. The potatoes were very good. Everything was good enough to keep eating, but not so great that I would necessarily try to impress. The menu gets more interesting as the day goes on, but I cannot comment on the quality. Had a Bloody Mary as well. Nothing special, and not terrible. Cost: Pretty good for LA standards. Probably appropriate for the quality of the food. Summary: Reasonable option if you’re in the area and looking for a filling, sit-down meal without all the fluff and expense of a pricer restaurant. Not a place I would venture far out of the way for.

My favorite place to be to have coffee and apple pie on rainy days! Sadly in LA, doesn’t rain much lol This by far is my favorite spot to chill in the evening and conversate with a fellow friend. I’ve had the BLT sandwich which was absolutely delicious. I’m bad with memorizing the names of what I’ve ordered before, but I can say the food is exquisite. The location is just perfect… Keeps away large crowds of tourists from taking over. This is a little piece of «Hollywood» that I like to keep to myself from all my friends; unless I invite them.

Let me start by saying I have been coming here for a LONG time, ordered deliveries, and I liked the place. Today, my wife picked up a take out since we live in the area. This has been the most disgusting meal in my life. Both our plates had hair. Not talking about one little hair I wouldn’t have noticed. I pulled a hair out of my mouth right before I vomited. after the scene, I opened the sandwich and the chicken had long hair all over. I called them and asked for the owner, but she wasn’t there. A manager? Nope. So, they put Joe, some who had«been there» longer than waitress I was speaking to. He said, with an attitude, as if I was exaggerating, in order to solve the problem they could offer me a refund. Are you EFFING kidding me? Do you think I care about a refund right now? Why don’t you offer a «I will go right now to the kitchen to find out what happened and send an order to your home». A shame. Won’t order anymore, won’t recommend. Maybe they will take me more seriously once my complaint is filed with the department of public health. Biggest neighborhood disappointment.

The interior here reminded me of Disneyland, specifically, It’s a Small World, which I found charming. I came here on a Friday night around 6pm with a gal pal, and it was surprisingly fairly empty. We snagged a seat right away, and started to peruse the menu. The prices are entirely reasonable. Although, they will charge you $ 0.50 for tap water for the table now(yay for the drought in California). I opted for a cheeseburger with fries, and was quite pleased with it. The fries were pretty standard, and the burger was well cooked: all and all a filling meal, although nothing exceptional to be perfectly honest. Still, I was pleased with it! I think this is a cute little place to come before/after hiking up to the Hollywood sign if you are so inclined. There’s no cell service in the restaurant so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re meeting people there. I’d like to return to check out the breakfast options so that will likely be what prompts me to come here again.

Nice, cozy atmosphere. Food was good, but it’s not anything you couldn’t make at home. Service was friendly, however; it was a bit slow, especially for a Thursday morning. All around 3 out of 5 stars.

The food and coffee is decent enough from eating here a few times, but what would be better is the attitude of the servers. We asked for water, never arrived. I had to get my own knife and fork from a nearby table a couple of times. Every time we asked a question we felt like we were putting the server out. All they were short of doing was raising their eyes to heaven at us. I’m a polite person and used to be a server, so I get it. When people eat out they want to enjoy the experience and not deal with pouty, unfriendly attitudes.

Really enjoy this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is great to stop before or after a hike or horseback ride. My personal favorites are the Mac and Cheese which is made from scratch as well the breakfast burrito which is very flavorful. They also have an exceptional cold brew. Total win and will totally be repeating.

Casual, quiet little spot on the way up Beachwood Canyon… weekends get busy, especially Sunday mornings, but the weekdays you can always find a table. People complaining about not being seated right away probably missed the PLEASESEATYOURSELF sign. I stayed at an AirBnB on Bchwd Blvd and ate at least one meal a day at the Café. I can recommend the Brussels Sprout leaves with crispy bacon and pecorino cheese… the beet salad(though they should either make it a chopped salad or serve it with a steak knife), the simple grilled cheese sandwich made with Manchego… the Bahn Mi sandwich(too big and messy to eat as a sandwich, but very tasty… needs shredded mint leaves to complete the effect). Entrees come with either fries or sautéed kale with pomegranate… I was never a fan of kale, but I found myself ordering it every time. Craft beers on tap… local delivery… overlapping breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Again, if you go on the weekend, you have to deal with tourists and hikers… especially at breakfast when it gets packed… be patient… don’t whine and pout if they don’t treat you like a visiting dignitary. And contrary to one review, from what I saw, they are very dog friendly…

This place is almost too good to be true! Located in the precious little neighborhood of Beachwood/Hollywoodland, it has a kitschy, homey feel. The inside looks like part of the It’s a Small World ride at Disneyland minus the creepy singing dolls. Even the menus here are cute — they’re miniature! We came for lunch on a weekday and were able to seat ourselves immediately — I can imagine there may be a bit of wait on weekends, but since it’s somewhat of a hidden gem I’m sure they accommodate visitors pretty quickly. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and pretty much offered us water and to take our orders immediately. I was really impressed with the menu because there seemed to be something for everyone — salads, sandwiches, burgers, yummy-sounding desserts, a coffee bar, you name it! Prices were pretty standard for an LA café: $ 10 – 15 for a lunch entrée. I ended up with Sofia’s Bowl which has brown rice, cooked kale, tofu, daikon pickles, and cucumbers in a peanut sauce and my friend got the grilled chicken sandwich with fries — they also let her customize the toppings, which was nice! The sandwich came out really well and my bowl was absolutely delicious — the perfect mix of taste and healthy ingredients. It was exactly what I needed for lunch after a long hike up to the Hollywood sign. I’ll be back for sure!

y u no open on mondays? I always forget this fact when it’s monday and come here and walk up to the door and then realize it’s closed and feel like an idiot and go cry in the car. They have this quinoa dish called the fez bowl that is amazing. There are delightful veggie surprises in it. Momz adds their tasty af jidori chicken to this fez bowl to make its goodness even good-er. I’ve had a few bites of the baked brioche french toast… You know i aint gotta tell you that sh*t is bomb af. Beachwood is a really cute neighborhood and this place is just adorable. Sucks that it’s a total dead zone but at least it forces you to actually acknowledge the people you are eating with. If you aren’t after that supermodel bod get that baked brioche french toast.

So I had my first meal on LA here and I gotta admit I read the previous reviews but this is my local so I had to check it out! They sell breakfast lunch and dinner and I think the bonus about here is you get 2hrs free wifi! The service here was pretty good, my first waiter was a young guy who was really helpful with my choices he knew the menu inside and out and helped me make the right choices! He was also attentive and gave me enough time looking at the menu before hand and served me a drink in a matter of minutes! It was just a shame he was them replaced with another waitress and she was a bit too eager to leave my bill on the table while I’m I was still eating an hadn’t asked if I wanted to order more items. So I ordered the chocolate bread and butter pudding and this was the better choice as the air con is on pretty high and I felt frozen! But I gotta admit it was the best chocolate bread and butter pudding I’ve ever had and when I’m next down there I might just get that again!

Came to Beachwood on a Sunday morning(10ish) for brunch with a group of 6. We were able to sit immediately as there were many available tables(I guess we were on the earlier side for the brunch crowd??). Our server greeted us quite speedily and filled our coffee order equally fast. She was very friendly and didn’t mind when we ended the meal by handing her 6 credit cards to split the bill with. We all ordered a scramble(beachwood, runyon, and nichols) that came with yummy home fries and the MOSTDELICIOUS toast I’ve had in a while. I may have been the only one who thought that was the best part of the meal, but I was super impressed with it for some reason. Yum, Beachwood give me your toast recipe! :) Loved the décor of the place, borders on kitschy but in a 50s, nostalgic way. Lots of formica, geometric designs, etc. and they had a bunch of paper snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and glass icicles in the windows for the holidays. Parking was a cinch, we took two cars and both found spots within a block of the café! After brunch we wandered the neighborhood a bit, stopping into the cute grocery store next door and admiring all the picturesque homes. Definitely will be back again soon!
