Barry P. Duel

We saw Dr. Duel a few years ago for surgery when my son was 13 months old. He was a very caring doctor with a great bedside manner. My son didn’t have any complications from the surgery, and everything Dr. Duel said would happen with his recovery was true. My son is now 5 years old and you would never know there had been surgery.

I can’t thank Dr Duel enough for his care of our son. He was available at 3am on Christmas Eve to review our son’s CT scans after an accident and stopped the Trauma Surgeons from doing what we now know would have been an unnecessary surgery on my son’s kidney. He arrived at Cedars very early (6am) on Christmas morning to examine my son and consult with the surgeons, again his opinion was against the scary surgery and it was the right decision. He followed my son’s recovery closely and did several follow-​up ultrasounds to ensure that everything was healing properly. He took my phone calls (literally– the office would put me on hold and a few minutes later he was on the line to answer questions, I haven’t encountered a doctor like that before, usually you have to wait hours for a callback). He is very nice and was extremely nice to our son. In fact, after being in the hospital our son is scared of all doctors except for Dr Duel. I really can’t express how grateful we are to have had Dr Duel care for our son during this scary time after a serious kidney injury.

I can’t say enough GREAT things about Doctor Duel and what he has done for my son. Never have I met a doctor who has shown such genuine care and concern for his patients! His office staff members are courteous and professional and return phone calls in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend him to any parent looking for great care for their child!

I disagree with the person who said he has terrible bedside manner. Dr. Duell was very kind to my daughter and even shared a story about his own daughter. He did not want to do any invasive tests if they could be avoided which, I was very happy about. He is a highly qualified specialist and I would recommend him and the practice to any parent who wants the best care for their child.

He was great with my infant’s surgery.

Dr. Duel is a pediatric urologist, specializing in low-​invasive surgery. There have been some reviews on the interwebs saying he has a bad bedside manner. I didn’t find that to be true at all. He is direct and to-​the-​point, but I have always had my questions answered and he is always friendly with me and my son. The nurses on staff there are very good, professional and warm with my son. My infant son needed surgery to correct a birth defect. Dr. Duel did an excellent job and I trust him completely.
