Ive been coming here since before I was born! haha! My dad found this spot a super long time ago and would bring my mom on dates there before I was even born. I will say that the only thing I could recommend is the wonton soup and fried rice.

Probably the most garbage tasting food I’ve had in la yet, the only thing that wasn’t complete trash was the rice, pretty hard to mess up tho, the egg roll was greasy and tasted like maple, sincerely very angry and still hungry person

Bamboo Inn is a small joint on the seedy side of Los Angeles, but what part of Los Angeles isn’t seedy. If you can find it, the hospitality of the staff is great, and the food is pretty good as well. Be prepared for a wait during the busier times, as there isn’t much seating. Also bring cash, as they don’t accept plastic.

I’ve been coming here for over 2 years and it’s been great! Good food and beer at low prices. It’s not for the typical picky hipster douchebags or poser food critics. YOUHETWHATYOUPAYFOR. Parking can be a bit of a pain(street parking only), but awesome hole in the wall.

Old school restaurant, the owner thinks it’s been around since 1951. They open at 12 noon and the place started to get busy once we took a seat. The old swinging entry doors will give you the first impression that you are going to walk into a time warp. The food is average so don’t expect the best Chinese food from this place. The main reason to come here is to take a walk back in time to your youth, because this place brought back memories.

Very old-school with delicious food and good prices. Old fashion China-Meshi. Been looking for a place like this for a long time. Only wish they had better parking.

I’m sorry, but I can’t believe this place has 4 stars on Unilocal. I usually don’t leave bad reviews, because I don’t want to ruin the reputation of a restaurant based on one experience. But this time, it’s definitely necessary to leave a warning. I went for lunch during the week after seeing 4 stars and. I’ve never been so disappointed at Unilocal reviewers. We ordered 4 items off the lunch menu(bottom four on the menu) and 3 came out within minutes. The sauces were all the same for these 3 and it was bland. And by bland, I mean it in a really not delicious, I might get sick in 30 minutes, way. I hope the owners take this review as a warning to improve upon the business and bring real authentic flavors of Chinese food to the table…

This place is so good and cheap, it’s awesome! We ordered 6 dishes and our check came out to $ 31. Not a bad deal at all. This place is in the hood though! But I think it’s worth the trip. My boyfriend said he’s been coming here ever Since he was a kid and it hasn’t changed at all. It’s still the same people working and running the place. It’s a Chinese restaurant amidst Hispanic ones but I’m sure it still makes a lot of money. You can order take out too. I would definitely order take out at least once a week but it’s too far from where I live. Sad. Try the pork fried rice! I could eat the everyday! It’s so good and it has a lot of pork. The wonton soup is delicious as well. We tried the beef pepper steak. It was too saucy in my opinion. It had a good flavor but it was lacking something, I’m just not sure what. I wouldn’t order that again though. The crispy noodles are good too. You can order those as appetizers. If you don’t mind the location, I will definitely suggest this place.

Time warp to 1975 and my first taste of Chinese food. If my first taste of Chinese food had been experienced on a plastic tray in my elementary school cafeteria. Which is where I experienced most every one of my first worst food experiences. It was there that I tasted the worst(steamed?) hamburger ever. The worst(again steamed?) tater tots ever. The absolute worst hamburger meat taco,(again steamed? but that was not the issue) that I had ever eaten or would ever eat. As a matter of fact it I had limited my knowledge to every food item that I was served at Robert Hill Lane Elementary I would never have grown to love food the way I do. Which brings me to this review. Worst 70’s version, or any version of Chinese food ever. Truly, if you appreciate fresh food, authentic Chinese, and not the 70’s style Chinese version of starchy bland canned tasteless sauce or old rough tasting meat then stay away. If you want a great kitschy time warp experience with terrific food in this area go to Prince or have a drink or two at HMS Bounty. Please if you have taste buds or have experienced and appreciate Chinese food above the quality of the $ 1 per item Chinese found in the hood stay away from Bamboo Inn. Disgusting gross and tastless. So what if there is a lot served for a little, if it’s all completely bland and both old looking and smelling, who cares??? Seriously people, stop with the good reviews for this place, people actually use Unilocal to make important decisions. Like where should I have my next meal. I mean who knows, your next meal could always be your last. And if you come here to eat in this shady area it just might, and that would be an epic tragedy, in more ways than one. If you have a passion for food, the kind that compels you to write the kind of rambling disjointed and long winded review that I have because you hate wasting valuable stomach space on garbage that taste challenged Unilocaler’s have recommended, please look elsewhere, keep scrolling, keep searching for somewhere, anywhere else to eat. Zero stars. Only if negative stars still amount to Zero. If not, negative 5 stars.

And always get the same thing #71. VERY inexpensive and good. Only down side would be that is cash only but not much of a problem! VERY small hole in the wall but grrreaat! We will continue to go here!

This place is super cozy and a great neighborhood restaurant! The little old lady that served us was soo funny and nice. When she checked my ID I have no idea what she said but she made a joke and gave me a little playful hit on the arm, which just made me laugh with her. I loved the home made style egg rolls and the beers were only $ 2.75. This is my new go to place!

I give it a two because you can not beat the price for downtown LA. Seriously fed a family of 4 for less then thirty doll hairs! On the other hand, the food was not as good as I hope, but like moma said«you get, what you pay for!» Got an A rating so do not let the tiny, old diner look fool you. Seems pretty clean. I just have had better food… No second trip for me.
