B&K Sugar Arts Lab

I’m addicted to this place! They make the best cookies and pastries! You can even call ahead, and they will make you fresh, hot cookies right out of the oven. Their cakes are amazing both in taste and artwork. I had my husband’s birthday cake made here, and it was the favorite part of his birthday. I uploaded a picture of it, so everyone can see for themselves how amazing it came out.

Negative stars if possible. This was the worst experience I’d ever had at a bakery or any service in general. My sister had ordered my a birthday cake from Boston. The cake arrived 3 days late and was completely smeared. I waited all day for the cake, which never arrived. I had gotten a time stamp from the post office that told me when to be home to accept the cake.
The baker had told my sister it was fine to eat and that the dry ice would save the cake from being ruined despite being in 100+ degree weather. When the cake finally did arrive, not only was it melted, but the dry ice was gone because it had been so long. My sister called to see how they could rectify it since it was already passed my birthday, but the baker told my sister that she would need to pay an additional $ 30 for a delivery charge to Pasadena DESPITE already paying for shipping and handling already. The baker also told my sister that the cake is fine and we would have to deal with it despite me sending them the pictures of what the cake looked like upon arrival.
I get it. It wasn’t necessarily B & K’s fault that their package was not delivered on time, however why would they be okay with their product being on display in the world like that? As a business, at that point they should have just shut up and said they are sorry and just redid the cake because why would they want to represent their cake like that? I immediately went online to vent my frustration with how rude they were being to my sister and also my cake. They responded immediately saying how sorry they were and that they would have a new cake at my house asap. A month and a half later still no cake. The amount of the money has been returned to my sister’s card, but they didn’t even bother to return our calls and say they didn’t want to do the cake anymore and just gave up. They also decided to block me on twitter.

Imagine an artists studio where everything created is edible and AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. If you have ever driven down this strip of Robertson, you might think there was no reason to stop… now there is. Seriously… just stop. A lot of what the various businesses housed within do is made to order: Mollie B. Cookies, The Department of Sweet Diversions and of course, Bohnhoff & Kent, but to your eternal delight you will learn that they have a display of treats that you can purchase on site: Bohnhoff & Kents Brittle Bombs are ridiculously good (you will eat the whole bag) and the gift sets of jams from The Department of Sweet Diversions is the perfect hostess gift. If you need something complex, like a special event cake or catered cupcakes, call ahead and order, or just stop by… these are the friendliest people you will ever meet. AND… if you want a cake that is truly unique, you need to check out the chocolate covered confections made by Bohnhoff & Kent. The purses are incredible and the small cubes are perfect party favors. Seriously… these chocolate covered cakes are HAND PAINTED and so special, they are really mind blowing. If you are throwing your best girlfriend a party GET ONE OF THE PURSES. She will love you even more than she already does :)

This is a stupendous business. I’ve ordered several of the purse cakes for special birthday events. People are amazed by both the beauty and the taste. B&K did a beautiful wedding cake for my granddaughter. I’ve also loved the brittle bombs and the incredible tomato jam. A group of artists work their magic here. Delicious goodies that tease and please the eyes.

I’m not usually the person to have the big sweet tooth, but B&K may just turn me into an addict… Imagine the foodie version of Walter White’s lab from Breaking Bad. This place is amazing, and the group of artists (and I don’t use the term lightly… they are artists for sure) who work there make up the most unbelievable treats. As far as desserts and sweets go, this place is as good as it gets.

If I could live in this place, I would! The chocolate, the Brittle Bombs, the Cashew Brittle… pure heaven! Everything is made with love and it shows. If you are anywhere near B&K Sugar Arts Lab, you must stop! Do not pass Go! Stop and enjoy the, the… oh I can’t make up my mind! It is all so wonderful!

I stumbled across these guys online last year before they had a store and I have never tasted such incredible desserts or seen such obvious artistry in the presentation and creation!!! From the Brittle Bombs to the red velvet cake handbags covered in chocolate to the organic jams and home made cookies, this place is truly remarkable! Everyone loves the unique little edible gifts I get for them and seriously you muuuuuust try the cashew brittle and Brittle Bombs– just totally addictive!
