Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge

I am a fan of Amtrak. No stress of having to drive long distances and the opportunity to relax and sleep on a train is awesome. Did not know the Metropolitan Lounge existed until our family had Sleeper train tickets.
The Lounge is located upstairs in the Los Angeles Union Station. The Amtrak staff are so courteous, helpful, and efficient. Especially if a member of your family is disabled, they accommodate very well.
There are complementary snacks and beverages in the lounge as you wait for your train. Fresh fruit, chips, and large chocolate chip cookies are available. They have sodas, teas, and coffee as well.
You can kick back either at the table and chairs or the leather seats. Although the décor is very simple with a corporate feel, Amtrak does sufficiently to keep their business class and sleeper train customers comfortable enough.
When it is time to go to the train, they prepare you and transport you via a red cart. The Lounge is a nice, clean and comfy place to chill if you are in business class or a sleeper train.

Yep, it’s a bar in Union Station. That’s about all you need to know. Maybe the drinks are too pricey, I don’t recall.

Choo-​choo! Woo-​hoo! The Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge in LA’s Union Station makes riding the Pacific Surfliner between LA and San Diego more comfortable for business class. This lounge is upstairs in Union station, and you must have a business class ticket. The staff in the Metropolitan Lounge can check your luggage on the train, and you can pick it up in the San Diego station, but you must check on your luggage at least 45 minutes in advance. They can also have a «red cab» pick you up at the lounge and take you right to your train.
The lounge has a TV, seats, and complimentary chips, cookies, sodas, and coffee, and tea bags. It also has clean toilets.
The staff in the Amtrak Metropolitan lounge are terrific. Every train station should have a lounge like this for business class. Bravo, LA!
If you buy your Amtrak train tickets in advance, you can get a AAA discount, if you’re a AAA member.

I love this lounge! When traveling by train, I upgrade my ticket not just for the better seats of business class, but to use this lounge.
