We’ve had our taxes done with Mr Scher since 2009. We are pleased and satisfied with his work. When we go to his office, he is ready to see us immediately and answer our questions and take care of your tax needs. Every tax year, we’ve walked out of his office fully satisfied with his work.

Great returns, inexpensive rate!

I had bad experience with him. It was about payroll and luckily I didn’t do any tax return work. He is not responsive by phone or email. It seems he is not interested in small clients (he can say that before taking work). I will not recommend him to anyone.

I want to rant but will not. Instead, just list the facts.
— Contacted Robert in early March for our business and personal returns, at which point he filed extensions for both.
— As April came and went, we still hadn’t heard back from him.
— We called him and left messages/​emails repeatedly and hoped on only on the off chance would he pick up his phone. Never returns emails.
— May and June came and went. Finally at the end of June he had our taxes prepared, but not with out difficulty (required many back and forth changes etc.)
— We filed and sent in our returns with the assumption that he had in fact filed an extension as he had said he did in March.
— Multiple PENALTIES (and thousands of dollars of late fees) from IRS and the State of California came our way due to failure to pay (contacted these entities and confirmed that he, in fact, had not filed the extension)
— Contacted Robert about the issue, he said he’d look into it and get back to us the next day. He hasn’t and that was 2 weeks ago. He’s now AWOL.
In short, he’s unprofessional and irresponsible and has complete disregard for his clients and the fiscal/​legal trouble he has gotten them into. DO NOT USE ROBERT SCHER FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES.

Tax papers not returned after months of calling for him. I do not get emails or telephone calls returned. When I did speak to him I asked if he is in bad health. I was told that he has business customers keeping him busy. Now I have a few days to file my taxes, even with a 3 month extension. I did not select this CPA from Unilocal

Robert is as thorough, diligent and rigorous as one can get. Whats better is that he takes time to explain the details in a language you can understand.
I went to Robert for tax advice and am convinced that I’ll get my 2011 taxes done from him.

Needing a good and trustworthy accountant to do my taxes for this year, I decided to schedule an appointment with Robert. He surpassed my expectations and ended up saving me lots of money. He’s very personable, passionate about his work, and is very detail-​oriented. He even took time out from his busy schedule to answer all my questions. I have already recommended him to friends and family. I will come back to him next year to do my taxes!

Mr. Scher is a very reliable and reasonably-​priced accountant. He prepared my taxes quickly and even advised me on my exemptions and 401K contributions. I highly recommend him.

I went to Robert to do my taxes this year for the first time because my other accountant was too expensive and had been getting more and more so over time. Robert did an excellent job, including helping me work through some different scenarios for next year due to job changes, and has reasonable prices.
I sent him spreadsheets of expenses by computer, saving on meeting time. He generated everything. I picked it up, signed it, and mailed it and a few weeks later, my refunds were deposited electronically. My only suggestion for improvement is that he should do electronic filing and I understand he plans to start doing that soon.
