Los Alamos Airport covers 87 acres, has one runway, and offers no commercial service. LAM reminds me of the one in Charleston WV in that it’s perched on top of a «Mesa» and the surrounding land drops down suddenly after the runway ends. In both cases, there’s not a lot of room for error. I was once a passenger on a small private plane as it took off here. The drop off and the associated scenic view of the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding canyons was stunning.
