We had a sunken livingroom that had carpet and needed to be raised and then we were putting in new wood floors. Plus we had existing wood floors that needed to be sanded and refinished. Wood n Nichols did a fantastic job on everything. We were very impressed with how quickly they completed the job. We will recommend them to anybody who needs wood floors refinished or new.

After my experience with Wood-N-Nichols, I can’t say I would recommend them to anyone. From horrible communication, to crappy work, to a marginal fix, I’m still irritated. I had similar work done at a previous house and it was fantastic. I decided to have these guys do some repair work at a new house that my wife and I purchased because they had already stained the floor a few months ago for the sellers to put the house up. We removed a wall connecting the separating the living room and a bedroom to open up the living area. I figured, if they had already done the floor, it would be easy for them to match it and I would have the best chance of a non-issue repair. I was wrong. The first thing that is not okay in my book is we had an appointment set for a Friday,(which I had set because I had the day off). I get a call 30 minutes before the crew is supposed to show up to cancel. I reset the appointment for Monday and end up having to have my dad come to watch the whole thing. They guys apparently showed up at 11 and worked for 3 hours, while one of them talked on the phone the whole time. They then returned the next day on Tuesday and once they were done, Tom was already asking about payment. I had my dad texting me from the house saying it didn’t look very good and Tom asking for payment, so I decided to hold off until I got to see how it looked. They left my house and said they were done, my dad said it didn’t look very good but thought maybe it needed time to cure or set. When I got home I was pissed. It looked like something was spilled on my floor the color was so off. As I had told Tom, the owner, earlier over the phone that he wasn’t getting paid until I saw the work myself(which, by the way, another red flag is that his first question was about getting paid and not how I liked the work), I held to my end and sent him pictures. He admitted it looked horrible. I got some sob story about his leg and health problems, although I have no idea how that should affect me, since we was not even the one actually performing the repair. I have a strong feeling that had I paid when the guys were done(which is what he was trying to get me to do), I would have never seen him again. It’s still not what I would have expected, but it blends in enough to hide until we get the entire house refinished or put in new flooring. I just couldn’t have holes from missing floor. Rule number 1 for hiring a contractor… never pay up front.
