First off, let me start by saying that staff at Charleston Coffee House were very accommodating. I decided to stop in one morning on my way to work. I wanted so much to fall in love with this particular spot. Lorain has needed an independently owned coffee shop on the ghost like main strip for years. I asked the worker if I could get a large iced vanilla latte. He looked taken back by the request and said«yeah…I can make that». I think my expectations and his expectations differed on the actual making of the iced latte. I noticed the automatic espresso machine and instantly realized they probably didn’t have chilled espresso for cold drinks in the fridge. The«iced vanilla latte» wasn’t even close to a latte in the slightest. I was given a lukewarm frothy milk poured over regular coffee… *sigh* The price considering the lack of knowledge and craft in making the latte do not match/align with basic coffee standards. More coffee knowledge & reasonable prices need to be seriously considered by managment.

As soon as you walk in, you’ll feel the good vibe… it reminded me of back East, Hip but in a relaxing way. I ordered breakfast and got a very good cup of coffee and sandwich. Server was polite and happy to answer the questions from the new kid in town. They offer live music, which I hear is good and will go back for that, I’m sure. I see another post about this place comparing the value to Subway or Panera. They may be a better value, but I’ll come here for the atmosphere, the great vibe, their free and friendly WiFi environment and to have a beer when I listen to local musicians. That’s a nice package…

A wonderful coffeehouse in downtown Lorain! This is one of the bright spots in the city. A classic look and feel to it with an eclectic motif. Great prices on sandwiches and coffees, and they serve alcohol in the evenings, they have a few tables out in the front to sit on Broadway.

A welcome addition to downtown Lorain! A cute little coffee shop with snacks, sandwiches, salads and of course… coffee! They also have free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets for computers. My favorite thing about The Gardens of Charleston is it’s relaxed and«homey» feel and décor. I always seen to get a lot of work done while I’m here! If you are looking for a great new coffee shop, give the gem a try!!!
