Absolutely love Dr. Cannizzaro! He is extremely patient, and really listens to what you have to say. He shows genuine concern for all his patients. He even gives his cell phone number out and encourages parents to call whenever they need to– including weekends. He provides a wonderful balance between modern medicine and homeopathic remedies, and tries to find the root of an ongoing problem, rather than just a bandaid to fix it. I’ve also been the PCU side(the walk in for his patients) and have been treated quickly by the nurse practitioners. If your chid has an issue that they feel needs to be seen by Dr. C, they will pull him over to look at your child(it’s happened to me before!). Be warned, he does give a big Juice Plus spiel at the beginning, but after that he just asks if you’ve heard of it and moves on pretty quickly. Cannot express how happy I am to find a Dr who is so wonderful with my daughters.

Dr Cannizzaro is still one of the best doctor’s I’ve met HOWEVER. His staff is just deplorable. I’m not sure if this is under Dr C’s control, or not… Only twice have we had to go in not on a regular child visit, both times our daughter was passed over to the walk in clinic, never seen by Dr C. The last time this happened(also the last time we were there as we have changed peds), we were told to come in any time. We sat in the normal waiting room(where sick kids were playing with all the toys and sneezing on them). I went in to pay my co-pay after 15+ minutes and the staff were literally lounging around, laughing at something. Meanwhile, my sick daughter was out in the waiting room MISERABLE. Then after about 30 minutes(no one else had come in to either office but many had left), we were ushered back to the«walk in waiting room». This room had NO toys, no books, nothing! It was a few chairs. Granted, I was avoiding the snot toys in the other room, but there was NOTHING. We told them that unless a room was ready, we were going to stay out where at least we could read her books. They seemed to get huffy at that… Once we were seen, the PA was nice, but she started pushing that damn Juice Plus(Dr C also did this but after a while would just say«I’ve told you about Juice Plus, right?). She spent about 3 minutes examining my daughter(including a quick look in her mouth and stating«it’s not strep or anything like that”-no cultures?). After those 3 minutes, she went on for at least 10 minutes about Juice Plus. She tried giving us some sugary treats from JP. When my husband declined, she said«oh, Daddy won’t take them» where he then noted he has diabetes. She THEN went on and on about the sugar free pills! We have looked at juice plus, it’s expensive. If it’s that good give us some! To top it all off, when we left, she gave us her card-she sells Juice Plus!!! We called after that to express our concerns. We spoke to a woman in the office who said she would pass along our concerns to the office manager. No call back from them or Dr C. I went in to get a copy of my daughter’s immunizations to take to the new ped visit, and they asked why I was leaving. I wrote«check the phone call we made after our last visit» which of course they had no record of. I briefly recounted our experiences and she said she would pass it along. Again, no call. After going to our new ped(Dr Jennifer Thielhelm), I realized that I had no CLUE the nurse’s name, the staff name, or anyone but Dr C at the old office. At Dr Jen’s, we knew the front desk lady, the nurse, and of course the doctor immediately. They also took the time to talk to Rowan. Dr C was AWESOME with Rowan, you can tell he has experience, but the rest of the staff talked to me, not to her. She had no trust in them. I’m sorry to have to say all this, maybe if Dr C gets new staff, it will be different…
