JG score of 4⁄10(+1.5 for food, +0.5 for atmosphere, +1 for price, 0 for no Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return) This place was recommended to us by several young women we work with in Marshall. They recommended the items we got. We tried two Tortas, one steak and one barbacoa, the chips and hot sauces, and a pork and cheese Pupusa. The sauces were all delicious. The chips came with a green type sauce and another pico type hot sauce. The entrees came also with a delicious orange type sauce… Our favorite entrée was the Pupusa. It would easily be a repeat item. The two tortas were okay as far as Mexican sandwiches go. They were good but not standout and we would not get again… they had many other items on the menu to try from as well. The atmosphere is interesting. I know I have been by here maybe a 1000 times and never been in. The inside seems much larger than it looks from the outside. There is a restaurant and seating area in the back part. The place has like a little grocery type section in the middle and many baked goods against the right wall. Mexican décor is everywhere from trinkets to boots. The price was great. Under $ 10 each for splitting all that. They do not have Diet Dr Pepper. The service was typical and friendly. Our server did speak English. We would not mind trying here again sometime.

I was on my way to try Jalapeño Tree when i turned my head at the stop light. There in front of me I saw a huge sign that said GORDITAS on a tiny shop that had a full parking lot. I pulled in to the lot and made a parking space(like the many before me) and walked in. The place immediately reminded me partly of the bodegas(or the Mexican equivalent) of my SoCal home and partly of summers spend in Guadalajara visiting relatives. Stuff hanging everywhere, rows of pastries in the back, coolers full of mexi coke and jarritos. And a little«restaurant» hidden away in the corner. Here I ordered four Gorditas, two Pupusas, a Squirt(in a glass bottle), and a Rompope ice cream. It was so delicious, and so cheap! I seriously ordered WAY too much food lol But it’s all so good and authentic!!! Language is a little bit of a barrier. I dusted off the high school Spanish, and with a lot of pointing I easily ordered without a hitch. Everyone was super friendly and they seemed excited to have this gringo eagerly swimming through their foreign waters! I’m sure Jalapeño Tree across the street is fantastic, and definitely geared for more standard sit down dining, but if you want a real good adventure check this place out!!!
