I had my wheel bearings go out while in Longmont. I took my truck to another shop in the area that wanted almost $ 1000 to change out the bearings, brakes, roters, belts(I had just replaced) and so on. James took my truck in and made sure the bearings were indeed going before recommending them changed. He showed a genuine concern and sympathy for what the other shop was trying to pull. He did a great job at a great price. He has my business. Nothing but curtious and professional. Well done!!!

I’m really surprised by the C.W. review because that has not been my experience with James’ Auto Repair and I’ve taken in both of my cars many times for various repairs. I’ve taken my cars in for simple things like oil changes to brake and rotor replacements, door lock actuator repair, sensor maintenance, some minor stuff with the engine on one of my cars and for a few other things here and there. I live in Boulder but I go all the way to Longmont just to use his shop because of all the shops I’ve gone to, his seems to be the most honest and reasonable. The repairs are top notch. I’ve never had complications with any of he repairs long after they are done. James also seems to really love what he does and whenever I take my cars into his shop he actually hangs around and likes talking about how the parts that need to be repaired are supposed to work. He goes into detail the way a person excited about a new gadget likes to talk about all the things the new gadget does. I don’t know what else to say except that I love the work at James’ Auto Repair and I think the mechanic is honest and trustworthy.

James’ main love is racing cars, I believe he’s running a garage to finance that. But he and his crew do an absolutely amazing job in maintaining and repairing vehicles. First, the work: They do great work. They only repair what needs repairing, and if you ask a question(or show any interest) they’ll talk your ear off about what and why and when. They love cars and they love to talk about them. The cost: When I’ve gotten a quote(say on a tune-up) ahead of time it has always been what I’m charged – or I get a call saying«Your alternator belt is cracked a little. We can change it for $ 35.» When I’ve gone in with something that needs fixing, I’ve always been pleasantly surprised that the bill is so low. The people: Recently my wife went in to get her car fixed and I tagged along to give her a ride and wrangle the kids. The mechanics talked to her, directly and not condescendingly. They did not constantly look over at me when they needed a decision, and while they were happy to answer her questions they were not surprised that a woman could understand car talk. This is the garage you’ve been looking for.
