Gastroenterology of the Rockies

Chose wrong location on my review. Same group but my experience was lafayette not longmont.

First off all of the staff including Dr. Bersentes were great, totally professional and100% competent. What I do have issue with is this place is just out to make money. I was billed a co-​pay for my consultation which my Insurance has no such thing, then when I had the «Procedure» done I was billed by the facility and the Dr. they pull this trick so they can maximize the amount of money they get from you and/​or your Insurance company.
I was upset that even after paying close to $ 1,000.00 out of pocket, I’m still having the same issue as when I first when in for my consultation!

I met with Dr. Raju for some gastro issues i’d been having, which ended up being Giardia. Dr. Raju was great, seemed compassionate, easy to talk to, and seemed dedicated to figuring out what was ailing me.
Here’s where things turned for the worse. I believe the nursing staff over there is quite nice, but extremely disorganized. I was called by one nurse and given a diagnoses and given antibiotics. A few days later i was called by another nurse, who was just calling to tell me the same exact thing, had no idea i’d already been contacted and given a prescription. as in, i could have still been suffering with my condition during that time and they had no idea that i’d already been contacted and started taking meds.
Another issue was that i’d dropped off a sample for testing for this condition, for whatever reason the sample was unusable, i was not notified of this for weeks.
I felt sick again one week after the antibiotics, as if I still had giardia so asked for another round of tests to make sure the meds had worked, i dropped my last specimin off for testing 3 weeks ago and just received a call back today saying i’m parasite free.
Additionally, i was not made aware of the fact that even after Giardia some people are left with Lactose sensitivity, i believe this is why i felt like i was still sick after the meds. I had to do research and talk to others to figure this out. Nor was it recommended that i take pro-​biotic supplements after the round of very harsh antibiotics (which knocked me out so i couldn’t even leave bed for a day, also not warned about that). I think anything designed to kill all of your intestinal flora should probably be followed up with some probiotics.
In all, i was not impressed with their seemingly uncoordinated effort, i received calls from multiple nurses unaware of what the other was doing. Getting a hold of one of the nurses involves calling a main line, at which point you need to know the nurse’s name in order for them to transfer you to the right office, usually you end up on hold for 3 – 5 minutes and then every nurse who picks up asks for your name and date of birth.

I love Dr Gatof at the Longmont office. He explains what he’s doing, what medicines he’s giving me and why, and is just in general a nice person and doctor. He always listens to me and tries to help. He is a great doctor and I appreciate his help.
