As a professional cabinetmaker I can tell you I buy a lot of lumber. This place is one of my last resorts. They have a decent stock of furniture grade plywood and lumber BUT their prices are stupid. Like 35% higher than every other professional yard. The sales people are professional enough but they really cater to the set and stage industry specifically so their pricing is designed for huge contracts where they offer some discounts. Retail is a small part of their business and even to a midsized shop like mine they offer really terrible pricing. Try Rosenzweig for plywood and lumber or Roberts in Long Island. For moulding, Dykes is better.

I have spent the last few months trying out different lumber yards in and around Brooklyn looking for the best place to get materials for furniture that I have been making. In my experience, most lumber yards I have called or visited have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The people I talk to are usually impatient and annoyed if I don’t know exactly what I am looking for, and often, when they find out I am a new guy, I get slapped with higher prices because they think I don’t know any better. Much to my relief, this was not the case with Le Noble. I have been to Le Noble a few times now and every time they are very patient and helpful, they take the time to explain to me the different options and applications for their products, and go out of their way to make me feel welcomed and valued as a new guy. Not to mention they have an extensive inventory of all types of hardwood and plywood, the best selection I have seen so far. I was looking for some unusually thick walnut planks for a table I was building, and they were one of two lumber yards that I found(out of about a dozen that I called) who stocked the size walnut I was looking for and were able to cut it down to the exact size I needed. The other lumber yard who had it, Adriatic Wood Products, was going to charge me over $ 400 for the same product I was able to get from Le Noble for $ 200. I highly recommend Le Noble, not only for their selection and their prices, but for their honesty and customer service which seems to be lacking in most other places in the area.
